We read their website on how a skip is ideal for house renovations, read their restrictions and no where does it say carpets are not allowed, so you’re not allowed carpets, glass, electrical items, paint, rubble, plaster board, treated wood, artificial grass, furniture.
What part of a house renovation can go in a skip then??
We have paid for a 6 yard skip to gut a house and the bulk of it is the carpets, they now want another £520 plus vat for the carpets on top of the £360 we’ve already paid and the answer is you needed to look on our needs of business link for carpets not allowed, carpets are a industry standard to be excluded. So why would you not have this on your what’s restricted page??
CON do not order a skip from this company!

We’re really sorry to hear you felt disappointed, and we completely understand your frustration - no one wants unexpected surprises when they’re knee-deep in a house renovation. It’s stressful enough already without having to think twice about waste rules!
You're right to expect clarity, and it’s feedback like yours that helps us improve how we communicate important details. While carpet is mentioned in our Terms of Business and the order confirmation/reminder emails, we can see now that having it clearly the main waste restrictions page of our Plymouth branch would make things clearer upfront — especially when you're trying to plan a big job like gutting a house. We're taking that onboard immediately.
To explain a little further for others reading this: the issue with carpets isn’t just a company policy — it’s actually due to how the Environment Agency regulates disposal of certain items like carpets and upholstered furniture (which are classed as “end of life” or POPs waste). These materials require specialist handling and can’t go to standard landfill, which is why they’re restricted or incur high surcharges with most skip providers across the UK. It’s not always obvious unless you’ve dealt with skips before, so we do try to outline this clearly - but clearly we need to make it even easier to spot.
We’re genuinely glad to hear you managed to make full use of the skip in the end and avoided any additional charges. That shows how versatile a skip still can be - even without carpet - and that your renovation work was still able to progress as planned. That’s ultimately what matters most.
We never want customers to feel misled. Your feedback has been shared with the team and we're already updating our messaging based on it. We’re a small business that genuinely values transparency and trust.

Communication and pick up was stressful
I used reliable skips due to doing a garden project, arrived on the day I asked , finished with the skip earlier than anticipated, call to say was ready when they were , it came to the day I asked to be picked up but was not so, two days later phoned, was unable to speak to someone just kept going to answer phone , eventually got a text saying it could be anytime during the week, I was not best pleased as was getting a delivery drop so needed my drive back , texts went back and forth , If the pick was as good as the drop off then 5 stars but not knowing estimated time was a mayor concern , communicating was stressful.

Fantastic customer service from start…
Fantastic customer service from start to finish, we ordered over the Christmas period and was given the first available date for delivery. Unfortunately it was a terrible snow day but the driver was very professional and managed to drop it off on the driveway with no problems. We also received a call a few days before collection to see if we needed more time. I would recommend to all. Fantastic.
