We used Katy Hutchinson from Robert Crossley solicitors for buying and selling our property. It turned out to be a long and complicated process, and the experience was mixed. Our chain broke when our initial sale fell through, and the team was very patient and supportive while we found a new buyer. Our onward purchase was also quite complex, but she managed to navigate it and get both transactions completed successfully. The main downside was communication, which was quite slow during the early and middle stages of the process. However, it improved significantly as we got closer to completion when they became much more responsive. We are grateful for their perseverance with a difficult case and thank Katy for getting us over the finishing line and into our new home.

Katy and the team were friendly and professional the whole way through, always following up in a couple of days as they claim. Most things went smoothly.

However, the house purchase was close to going wrong because apparently nobody seemed to know what a Lifetime ISA was. I was requested to pay more stamp duty than I should have as a first time buyer, and I also had to get them to withdraw my LISA otherwise I would literally be unable to pay the deposit. It got a bit stressful towards the end waiting for the money to come through on time because it was left a bit late.

Unless you're doing a straightforward, normal house purchase, be vigilant.
