I was cutting down some yukka plants in our front yard and found a family of ringtail possums with 2 babies. One baby got left behind and after I called the hotline a beautiful carer came to rescue the baby and give her a new lease on life. This service is amazing and I recommend it to everyone. Thank you for your support and care of our beautiful wildlife 🙏❤️🥰❤️🙏

My phone call went to message bank but they called back quickly. They were so appreciative of our call and grateful that we wished to help the magpie. The animal ambulance was already out but was able to get to us within 3 hours. The person who came to collect the magpie was also very grateful to us for looking out for the magpie and assured us they would do everything they could to fix his injuries and return him to our park.

I found a fledgling magpie yesterday evening and no sign of either parent nearby. Elected to bring it home with a plan to find a vet or volunteer org. Reached out to SOWFI and they provided really good advice…and confidence… that we could care for it overnight and then take it to the vet in the morning - which we did. A good outcome!

Whenever I’m out and about and find an injured creature I always ring the Wildlife Foundation. Recently two ducks with five ducklings crossing a road. I got them over the road but needed advice about what to do next. Today, an injured magpie having trouble walking. On both occasions they have made welfare checks to ensure all is okay. They are always caring and very helpful. A wonderful organisation.

Spoke with Belinda (I think) about a baby possum that fell out of a tree and then crawled into a drain.

She was so empathetic and caring, gave me the correct number to call and am now waiting for the SES team to come check to see if we can retrieve the baby and help it.

The person I spoke to was awesome, helpful and understanding. Gave clear instructions .

The lady I spoke to was extremely helpful when I rang about a concern for some birds. She also kept me updated with the situation as much as she could after I rang.

The team arrived promptly and were able to catch a possum who was not at all well and take him to the animal hospital. A really fabulous service as I had been trying to catch him for hours.

Had an obviously unwell possum that had started sleeping under our car in our carport. Rang SOWF who were extremely helpful and prompt. Van not out on day 1 but attended within an hour on day 2 and Possum caught without fuss. Very pleased with SOWF service. What a great band of volunteers!!

I had two seperate accounts, where I had to have unwell possums picked up . The 24/7 operator was so helpful , as well as the volunteers that came to collect the possums. Such caring , wonderful people that couldn’t be more caring . Thank you

Great organisation for Native Animals

Very caring gentleman answered the phone and took time to offer good advice and was very supportive so that I could take care of an injured bird in until I was able to get specialised help for him in the morning.

I rang about a young Boobook owl in our street who was being harassed by other birds. Two SOWFI persons attended,assessed the owl and determined it was healthy. I checked the following day and the owl had moved on successfully. I think the SOWFI people provided a great service!

Kevin was so helpful when I had no idea what to do with a young barely alive Murray magpie that had been in my chimney for days. Rang the animal hospital for me and got straight back to me. Amazing work.

Rang in relation to an injured possum, the operator was caring and concerned.
Between his advice and our luck we caught it and took it to the local vet.

Belinda wasn't able to come out to us but gave great advice on how to handle a Boobook Owl to get to the vet. Thanks Belinda.

Sue was very prompt calling me back about an injured kangaroo and made several calls to find a volunteer to help. Thank you for providing such a great service to help our wildlife.
