Carl Besambeau carried the day.

Carl Besambeau was really helpful in the whole project, starting with a careful photographic survey in close detail, and ending with stepping in for a colleague on sick leave to install the lift, working on a Friday til 7:30, and providing a full explanation of how it all worked. We're very pleased with the result.

The engineer

The engineer, David, was efficient and friendly and the whole measuring up excercise went smoothly.
Both the original surveyor , Andy, and David were excellent.

The star rating should be zero!

The star rating should be zero ….. BUYER BEWARE

I have a Thyssen Krup Flow X stairlift, valued about 7 to 8k.

Installed October/November 2024

It has never been 100% right with faults galore including a replacement chassis as it was faulty. The lift has a safety alarm that goes off when nobody’s near it at 2am and at other times no fix on that yet it’s one of its noisy quirks you have to live with……not funny!

In the last three months it has started dropping oil/grease on the beige carpet that is now a mess, - that has little use as the stairlift is a means of getting up and down the stairs
.
Senior Stairlifts answer to this problem is the rail needs to be greased and to use a can of WD40 degreaser to clean the carpet.

The moral of this is simple avoid this stairlift at all costs as you be using WD40 to keep the carpet clean!

THIS COMPANY ARE SCAMMERS . THAY SENT SOME ONE OUT TO LOOK AT MY LIFT LAST DECEMBER I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE CIRCUIT BORD WICH WOUD COST ME OVER £600 IM A DISABLED PENSIONER I SEAD NO WAY I COUD NOT AFORD THAT AMOUNT OF MOUNY THAY CHARGED. THAY STILL TOOK £180 IN CALL OUT CHARGE. I GOT MY IN TOUCH WITH MY LOCAL AUTHORITIES . WHO SENT SOME ONE OUT HE SEAD IT WAS THE BATTERY AND CERTAINLY NOT WHAT THAY HAD SEAD .. THAY ARE LIYING SCAMMERS THE MAN THAY SENT OUT ALSO COME IN TO MY BEDROOM UNINVITED DISGUSTING. .DONT USECTHIS HORRIBLE COMPANY THAY WILL SCAM YOU OUT OF UR MOUNY ITS DISGUSTING ROBBING PENSIONERS .THE MAN THAY SENT OUT STUNK HORRABALL AND SHOULD NOT HAVE HAVE COME IN TO MY BEDROOM. PLEASE PLEASE. DONT USE THIS COMPANY .FOR UR OWN SAKE THAY WILL SCAM YOU LIKE THAY TRIED TO ME.!!!!

Great company

Dealt with online - sent pictures got a quote and arranged the decommissioning. They arrived promptly, the engineer Carl, did an excellent job and left the place neat and tidy. Would recommend as other companies were just going to charge for removal. Was paid the agreed amount on completion.

Making my life easier

The engineers were friendly,efficient and very tidy.They explained everything to me and Reece and Eilidh,watched me using the lift to make sure I was comfortable with everything.I was very impressed and would have no hesitation in recommending this company.

Revitilize your old stairlift

For anyone with an older stairlift, I can highly recommend Senior Stairlifts. The office staff are friendly and the stairlift engineers competent. I am very satisfied with my reconditioned seat. The stairlift goes better than ever now Thankyou Senior Stairlifts

We had an outside stairlift fitted for my husband. A huge thanks to Jordon and Jason who worked so hard to make sure everything worked well. Very polite, professional and tidy workers.
Would highly recommend this company.

Top class service from the staff ( dale) and a lady i didn't get her name, booking my repair was effortless with Dale who diagnosed the possible problem right away. Was offered next day visit but had to put it back to after.weekend problem diagnosed had a wait of 48 hrs for part( very acceptable as between xmas and new year.repaired by Dan quick and professional. Cannot praise Seniors staff enough. One price plus parts no add ons like a lot of other companies who wouldn't repair as it was not their installation. To all at Senior Stairlifts thank you and a happy fruitful new year

Prompt, professional, efficient & courteous

Engineer visited 24hrs after Senior Stairlifts was contacted. He phoned to advise of his arrival beforehand, was prompt, courteous and professional yet friendly. Checked the stairlift over, made a few tweaks and gave us some advice. Wouldn’t hesitate to use this company again!

Little to like

Phoning on behalf of my elderly parents, yesterday I arranged a free no obligation quote for Senior Stairlifts to visit them and quote for a stairlift.

Despite the basis of this visit, overnight they emailed me with an invoice for £1,200.

When I phoned them up to complain they said it was just human error, refused to apologise, and said they were surprised I was complaining. I have naturally cancelled the forthcoming appointment.

Whilst I am perfectly able to contest the bill and complain about it, a more frail, elderly and vulnerable person if they had received the invoice, might have worried that it was actually due and paid it.

Thank you for taking the time to share this, and I’m genuinely sorry for the worry this mistake caused.

To clarify the situation for anyone reading: the invoice you received was generated in error due to an issue within our system. It was marked as paid and there was no outstanding balance, no request for payment, and no charge applied to you or your parents. This was confirmed immediately when you phoned our office.

I personally called you shortly afterwards to apologise directly and to reassure you that we have recently hired a dedicated software engineer to prevent this kind of technical error from happening again. We completely understand why you felt cautious, especially when enquiring on behalf of elderly family members, and we respect your decision to cancel the appointment.

For context, we complete thousands of stairlift installations across the UK and have over 500 five-star reviews from families who trust us with their most vulnerable relatives. We take that responsibility extremely seriously, and we would never intentionally send a misleading invoice or request payment without consent.

Once again, I am sorry for the inconvenience this caused, and I wish you and your parents all the very best.

I would not recommend this company.

Ordered a stairlift for my terminally ill partner. Was assured that if I waived the 14 day cancellation fee we would have the stairlift in 3 to 4 weeks so I did. Sadly my partner died within the 2 week period. I could not cancel without losing a very large deposit so decided to go ahead with the stairlift. One month later they said it was ready to be fitted. I was told the engineer would come today at 9am. I’ve just spoken to the engineer who is at least 70 miles away and has 2 more jobs to do before he will get to me and would be there mid afternoon. As I have to leave the house at the time he’d be arriving I have had to stop him coming today. Absolutely appalling service from a company with no empathy at all. I have also twice asked for the date that manufacture started on the stairlift and have had no reply. This is poor customer service and not a company I would recommend.

Sue, I am truly sorry for the loss of your husband. We know this has been an incredibly difficult time for you and we have never taken that lightly.

I do want to give some clarity on the process, as there are several points where we are unfortunately limited by the manufacturer and by the nature of a bespoke curved stairlift.

Your stairlift was sold on 6 October. We returned the following day to carry out a full technical survey and placed the order with the manufacturer immediately, including paying for expedited drawings to speed things up for you. All lead times we give are the exact times provided by the manufacturer and are always subject to change outside of our control. Once a curved lift is in production, we receive very few updates until the unit physically ships. This is standard with all European manufacturers and means we can only give firm dates once the lift is on its way to us from the UK distribution hub.

The lift left the EU on 7 November and arrived with us shortly after. As soon as it landed, we booked the earliest available installation date for you.

We always schedule curved installations as all-day appointments, and our engineer calls when they are around an hour away. Unfortunately, it appears this was interpreted as us arriving first thing in the morning and remaining on site all day. The reason we book an all-day slot is to ensure our engineers have the time they need to fit the lift correctly, safely and to the highest standard. This was explained at the time of booking. When our engineer called to say he was en route, the appointment was cancelled on your side because the timing did not work for you.

Regarding the deposit, curved stairlifts are made completely bespoke to each individual staircase, so they cannot be returned or resold. If we could have taken it back for you, we genuinely would have. We also applied a £250 goodwill credit to try and help in what is clearly a very upsetting situation.

We fully appreciate how emotionally charged this has been, and we are sorry that the timing ended up coinciding with such a painful period in your life. At the same time, we do need to protect the business from circumstances that no-one could have predicted.

Problem solved

I ordered a recon wave X stairlift recently, must say that ordering and insulation can’t be faulted, but not their customer service. Yesterday about 5 pm I used it to go upstairs, did what I had to do but when I came to come down stairs, there was no power to the arms. I rang customer service got recorded message saying they were busy but if I leave message they would call me. I waited over an hour and decided to have a look it and found on of switch turned it on and off and bingo stairlift working again, so I could get back downstairs. Sue contacted me and explained all. Engineer will be coming to check stairlift, so all is sorted

Recommended company

Senior Stairlifts was the answer we were looking for to install a stair lift. My husband had been imprisoned upstairs for 3 years. Our house was built in the 1700's so represented a challenge for the company. Unfortunately we had been led down by a firm that happily took a deposit but failed to deliver the goods. Joe came and surveyed the job and from then it was plain sailing. The engineer was unable to fit the lift due to his being unwell. Reece worked on the following Saturday to ensure we had our lift fitted. He worked efficiently and went far beyond his installation. The customer service from this set up is exceptional. There is no pressure but once a sale is agreed it is all systems go. Joe and Reece are exceptional examples of caring for the customer. Well done everyone!30

So far, so good

So far, our experience with Senior Stairlifts has been very good. Salesman Lewis was professional, clear in his explanations, and not at all pushy. Tom, the initial inspector, carried out a careful survey and gave us confidence by answering our multiple questions thoroughly. We’re still at the pre-installation stage, so I’ll update this review once the stairlift is installed and we’ve had time to experience the after-sales support. Senior Stairlifts were miles ahead of their competitors in terms of customer service and replying to any messages .
