Bought the new shelly motion detector…
Bought the new shelly motion detector and it does detect but does not upgrade after 45 minutes online ! - or connect to alexa routines as advertised - I have a degree in computing and it just does not work - lots of advanced programmers trying to get shelly devices working all over the web so unfortunately will be sending back - paperwork should make this plug and play but it does not just an expensive paperweight - Raoul - UPDATE / the device is now seeable by shelly themselves and our network - needs manual i.p setting when it settles down- but is still not triggering alexa so will give two stars as still not triggering routines - UPDATE finally two 1/2 days later managed to update firmware and connect and trigger alexa voice routines !!! - what could be an excellent product is supplied with mispelt and bad documention and you tube videos - I am going to try to set the device up again now i have an idea of whats involved and possible rescore this company and product if all goes well - their customer service get back to you well enough but their answers are not very helpfull unfortunately ! - people outside if I.T. would struggle-maybe they should aim for PNP out of the box working as Samsung appear to have acheived ?

delivery times do not apply. They promised to dispatch my order in 10 days after payment. When I contacted they told me it take another 30 days. I ask for refund...
Practice with 20 devices
one year ago I installed a system of 20 devices on two floors of the house to control the electric curtains. As a result, 4 devices are broken, others spontaneously open at night or when you are on vacation.. The idea is good, but the poor quality of implementation needs to be improved.
Very poor business practices
I ordered two products from Shelly and only one showed up so I contacted them and they asked for a picture of packing so I sent pics of packing, packing list and the invoice and they told me that it needed to be sent in a different format, so I did and I also sent it to myself. They then told me I sent a video which I didn't so they then said to send in a different format which I did and they said they couldn't open it cause it was the wrong format (they sent me the link for the formats required) I will never deal with such an untrustworthy company again.
I'm going to be short
I'm going to be short. Bought 10 shelly 2.5 two years ago. Today I'm removing the 3rd broken unit. Enough is enough... Looking for alternative.

Great experience with little downside
I was trying to avoid rewiring my 1930's home because much of the home still has knob and tube wiring. My living room has 4 lights that are all individually controlled at the fixture with no switch to turn them all on at once. Instead of spending thousands of dollars rewiring, I was hoping the Shelly Dimmer 2 and Button 2 would work. I had many email interactions with them (phone didn't go through). The support wasn't perfect, but I got comfortable enough to try it. I couldn't believe how easy it was to install and setup. They all work! I can turn off each light manually, or all at once with the app or Button 2. I am really impressed. When I ordered, the parts were at my house in less than a week.
Upsides:
Easy to install
Easy to use
Works with knob and tube wiring that is 100 years old!
Many options to customize
Downsides:

Purchased from them many times (around 8). Shipment are normally fast but during promotions sometimes they handle the orders with some days of delay.
I went through their support a couple of times and it was always great! Since they sell devices that may be subject to improper installation they ask you many questions before reaching a conclusion (and I think is normal). In my case both devices were replaced free of charge.
I will always buy from them!
Evasive
So-called technical support were useless and evasive. Of what use would a video be of me turning a switch off and on? That's what they asked for, rather than replacing a defective product.

OMG BAD BAD BAD
OMG BAD BAD BAD, just upgraded to the new app and the app is now asking me for the username/password and is locking all my devices. SAME username and password works on the website. I DONT want to have to use the website to control the devices.
Great devices until they locked me out. VERY bad app.
UPDATE: I had to uninstall the APP and reinstall. Afterwich it accepted my username/password. HOWERVER, it then didnt recognise the pin lock code. It has reset it to 0000. So I had to figure that out and go through the devices and reset it to my usual code.
This software update is rushed and fragile. DONT upgrade until they have fixed it.
"Customer Service" Ignore emails and do not send replacements as they say the would.
I ordered a WiFi relay to turn on my heating, low draw device, I did an update as recommended by the app on the firmware. After a reboot, the Wifi Relay Shelly 1L device was bricked and wouldnt do anything apart from when power was applied, the led would flash on for a fraction of a second and do nothing, I sent photos and videos to support who responded ok, but only to their benefit, they obviously have a problem with this batch or software and just used me for feedback and the knowledge.
They said they were going to send me a replacement part. They have sent me nothing. I have tried to contact them many times about this, all ignored.
Dont waste your time helping these clowns they dont help. Avoid the product, if a firmware update bricks the device, it shows their product is flaky.
Ordered on 28 July still not arrived 8 weeks later
Ordered on 28 July. Email says 7-10 days delivery. It is now September 17th and still not arrived and the tracking link no longer works.
This is with paid shipping. I've ordered things from China with free shipping that have arrived more quickly than this.
Excellent customer service!
A Shelly 1 I purchased about 1 and a half years ago failed. Contacted their customer service. Every response was within 30 minutes. And within 24 hours a new product was ordered for free!

Slow shipping and misleading information on website
Order a Shelly EM module as website saying the item was in stock and then told of a shiping time of about two weeks away (after the order was placed). I messaged customer services a day after when it should have shipped to be told they are still waiting on stock. The website continues to show the product as being in stock.

Spend few hundred dollars on motions sensors and few door sensor. All the products go offline in few days and you need to setup again.

Torn between the good and the bad with shelly.
The good:
The devices are fair prices and work. Constantly updating with new firmware and features. I have spent a lot to turn my house into a smart home and these are doing the job.
The bad:
Poor shipping - expect orders to take from 2 weeks to 3 months. Customer service do not advise customers of delays and are happy to say things will be dispatched when they are not.
Customer service are also generally unhelpful when it comes to order, which really lets a good product down.
Worth considering other brands with availability as the market open up.
@shelly - Please get your act together and put a bit of care into customer care. (And dont sell orders you can not fulfill!!)
The door sensors are rubbish
I bought some door sensor 2s.
Terrible... let me tell my story...
Set-up OMG what a faff:
- So to start off, they use these specific, difficult to get and expensive batteries (CR123). Perhaps other people think these are common batteries? But they cost me allot of money on top of what is already an expensive device and I struggled to find them.
- It took me 3 hours to get my first one set-up :-/ 3 hours of pain and suffering. I had to constantly tap the sensor with its ‘other half’ every few seconds to stop it going to sleep mid save while using the web interface or Shelley app to try and apply my desired config.
- once finally setup, the power went on it and I had to factory reset to get it working again.
So, its set-up now and I can see doors opening and closing! Yay!
Longevity:
- I got less than 6 months out of BOTH devices before they died and I had to put new batteries in.
- When they died, I put new batteries in and instead of simply coming back to life, they do nothing. Just sit there and blink with their little red light, not connecting to the network or the Shelly app or even exposing an access point anymore to allow me to try and connect and work out what’s going on!... no thank you. I don’t want to factory reset every 6 months.
- I turned off the tilt sensor, temp sensor, basically everything other than the door sensor itself, as that’s all I wanted it for and wanted to maximize battery life (fail).
In summary, I’m pretty disappointed I wasted my money on these and basically wish I hadn’t because they are allot of effort and are not just a pointless waste of batteries.
