I've read all the reviews from 1-5 star and I agree what has ben said by Chiappini about the CEO's salary. £140k is NOT a huge mount to head a charity that has distributed 1.7 BILLION treatments; carried out 9.2 MILLION cataract operations; and helped 342,868 people with disabilities earn a living. 91% of donations go to the charity work. Only 9% is used to grow awareness and funding.
If I can find fault with the charity it is that the do not respond to the inappropriate and untrue claims made by the 1-star (so called) reviews.
Also, why do Trustpilot not take down these damaging reviews?
I shall now sign up to make a monthly donation.

I clicked on a QR code on a leaflet that came through my door. Asking for support for the blind. I then opted to donate £25 on a one off basis, filled in my credit card details and expected a confirmation, but instead was taken to another page trying to sign me up to something else. At which point I quit only to get an SMS from my bank suggestion this might be a fraudulent transaction. I got in touch with the bank and fortunately the transaction had not gone through.
Shame, as the cause in the leaflet seemed genuine and worthwhile.

I wanted to donate to sightsavers. I have no experience with sightsavers. I am very disappointed with the quality of reviews. This is meant to be a review of the organisation, instead it seems to be a rant from people who know little or nothing about the organisation. Therefore I am none the wiser.

It should be The NHS getting the money as people have been waiting here for over 12 months. Why should we supply other countries where we can't get it done here?

Hi I just seen the advert with Lebasa the little boy he is about 2 or 3 in it but I have to say that the advert as been out for years he has got to be about 7 or 8 now I think u need to improve ur adverts before i send any money to help it's unfair for people

Another con artists fake charity who spend more on ads and their CEO than they people they claim to help

I’ve read a fair amount of info on this charity and suffering from painful dry eyes myself, it’s difficult to watch the children especially.
Having worked for a hospice and understanding the role of a CEO, I cannot understand the complaints about the salary. In Cape Town, a similar uproar followed the CEO of Africa’s largest children’s hospital. However the extra funds she brought in through her expertise and professionalism were staggering. You get what you pay for!

if the ceo donated the half the salary how many children would this help,if the ceo would do this i might donate

I read these reviews with interest after watching a TV and seeing if I should donate. I am pretty appalled that you have been allowed to leave these ridiculous reviews. Firstly, £144,000 to run a huge Charity is actually a lower salary than most Charities and as for the Enoch advert - do any of you have an idea how much it costs to create an advert. These reviews sum up the toxic online culture. You are not reviewing what this Company does, you are putting forward your personal feelings which have no reference to how it operates. So thank you for making up my mind to donate.

I think the commercial is disgusting, first of all it’s old ( 9 years ) and for them to think it’s ok to put something on their face to attract flys is horrible. Instead of helping themselves, they just film. £2 a month isn’t going to the children, it’s going towards advertising, production and crew.

As always I research the company and reviews is there any chance these poor kids are getting a little of donations as be better than nothing..regards Alan

Enoch is 2 & going blind. the advert is readily available on search engines showing the advert from 2014. that's 9 year's. hasn't Enoch being operated on yet.

Such ashame i use to contibute 10pounds a month,
i have read the previous reveives what a despicable
charity preying on the vunerable im sure the ceo could
contribute a big lump sum out of her salary i wonder if she does.
i just hope all the children with tracoma get the help they so rightfully deserve.

This is a disgusting way of trying to con people of giving money to this charity. CEO earns in excess of 140K and all you are doing is pulling on people heart strings by showing such disgusting pictures of black kids with flies on their eyes. Stop robbing the public

Just seen a sightsavers advert featuring 2 year old Enoch who needs surgery. This ad has been on tv for years so Enoch must be about 12 years old now. I would hope he has had his surgery to correct his sight and it would actually be nice to see his success story. Instead, sightsavers are still using the same child, surely this shouldn't be allowed and is falsely asking for donations.

Your CEO earns in excess of £144000 and yet you show the most terrible of children with flies around their eyes on you TV adverts. That's disgusting. All you are doing is pulling on people heart strings and should find a better way to ask people to donate.

Absolutely disgusting charity (business). The proceeds keep the executive staff in a lifestyle and they have never even interacted with a third world child let alone met anyone with trichoma. A CEO on a salary of £140k and they have the nerve to ask public on the bread line for money during a time the cost of living has risen and people are struggling! Channel 4 should be ashamed of itself advertising for charities like this. I have opened a petition in Parliament please sign this to eliminate these companies.

I have often written out a cheque for £30
To Sightsavers. However now I know that
the CEO is paid over £140,000 each year
I will no longer donate to this charity.
She has the cheek to say she doesn't claim for a car nor expenses. So she should NOT.
I am disgusted that she doesn't seem to be embarrassed that she takes such an outrageous wage which obviously rises each year. This mocks the word CHARITY.
