Horrific experience, never again!

In my 30+ years on the internet, I have never been treated the way I have been by SimpleLogin/Proton...

I had a SimpleLogin lifetime account sinds 2022 and used this for literally all my e-mails (using a few custom domains that I own). End of December (Merry Christmas!) I noticed that something was wrong with my e-mails. After some initial troubleshooting, I tried logging on to the SimpleLogin dashboard, but to no avail: I could not log in. Tried resetting my password, to no avail, so I sent a request to their helpdesk.

The answer was simple and short: my account had been disabled due to "abuse". I freaked out (I mean, from that moment onwards, ALL my emails bounced) and first did everything to find another service (thanks addy.io, you were great!) and after that was done and emails were functioning again, I reached out to SimpleLogin again to ask for more explanation. They refused to provide further information and simply reiterated "abuse" and that the decision was final.

No warnings, no questions, nothing. I can assure you, I did not abuse anything. Sure, I probably technically violated their TOS by signing up with a service twice or something, but never anything that would really need to be called "abuse". But as I don't get any further explanation, I have no idea what triggered this.

Moving on, I of course wanted to load all my aliases into the new service (I use unique aliases for each service/website, so there are a LOT of aliases), so I reached out again, asking if they would provide me with an export of my data. They right out refused, claiming that my account was terminated and this was no longer possible. I won't leave it at that and will try to use GDPR legislation to eventually get it, but as a lower priority.

And as a final blow, today, they charged my credit card (I had set up automatic payments) for the next year... Even if my account and their service is gone. I mean...

Nowhere in this whole process did I have a real "human" interaction, someone who might care about their customer, everything seemed either bots or copy/paste standard replies, although it usually took multiple days go even get a response. I was contemplating moving to Proton for a lot of stuff, but after this: never again, this was absolutely disgraceful.

Had my account deactivated without reason. After no response from support after 2 days, I switched to a self-hosted alternative. They did eventually reply, and my account magically worked again, but I have no trust or confidence in SimpleLogin now.

Great when operational currently shit

When it was operational, it *was* a good service.

Currently, it seems to be partly offline, run by AI scripts that disable paying users without any real and serious path to restoring accounts, and with no explanation from the support.

Presumably, from other forums criticizing Simplelogin, I have deduced that the "crime" is to have created 2 or more forwarding addresses, using Simplelogin's interface and permission according to the manual.

5 Days, and no action from Simplelogin. Simplelogin is shit.

*Finally, a made-up answer from Simplelogin arrived. As it appears, SimpleLogin is scamming its customers because its product has become obsolete, and equivalent services are free online. The scam is that the customer's account is terminated with any type of general reference to "the sky is blue" statement, while being presented with the option to pay for a new account.
SimpleLogin has simply stopped making $$$$ and therefore tries to scam the existing customer base and new customers "annexed" from Proton AG, for which SimpleLogin is a subsidiary, and has been given access to Proton's customer base with violations of privacy clauses, etc.

SimpleLogin is indeed shit.

* A SimpleLogin employee sent another letter trying to invent undefined "abusive" reasons for the disabling of the account, and with a new offer to buy a new account.

Once again, SimpleLogin is shit and don't do business with these people. For example, the stated undefined reasons would occur logically for any prolonged use of any website where the interest of the user would be an interest that SimpleLogin, and to a greater extent, Proton contractually promises to protect.

There are currently 10s-100s of services on the internet providing better, faster, safer, and more reliable services than SimpleLogin - without any costs.

My premium account got banned for no reason

They banned my account for literally no reason at all within ten days of paying for their premium subscription.

As you can read from the rest of the reviews, that's not the first time something like this is happening.

I'll demand a refund through my bank and never use any of their services again, including Proton's services of course.

I’ve been using SimpleLogin almost daily for quite some time, and it has been absolutely reliable.

The app makes it super easy to create new aliases on the go, and everything just works smoothly.
It’s a simple yet powerful way to protect your privacy and manage your online identities more securely.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants more control over their personal information!

Charged before renewal, canceled in time, no refund

I was billed on Sept 6, 2025 for a yearly subscription that didn’t begin until Sept 7. I canceled within 20 minutes on Sept 6, before the new term started, but SimpleLogin refused to refund, citing a “no refunds” policy and hiding behind server-time technicalities.

The result is I was charged for a service period that never began. This experience shows SimpleLogin doesn’t stand behind fair billing practices, and I can’t recommend them.

Perfect for managing emails; preventing spam

I got some of their services free because of my proton account. I liked it so much that when I got the opportunity for a lifetime subscription for this + proton pass I jumped to take it.

I've been using this for over a year now, and it has made a wonderful difference in controlling who has access to which email you want. If something is likely going to spam me, they get one of my emails that I plan to get rid of in a few months. Because you can choose different emails for services, you can immediately know if a category of phishing or spam shouldn't be going to that directed email.

Cant be trusted

Cant be trusted. They keep suspending my account for no reason. Customer service is very slow takes weeks to reply. Other reviews are correct they can and will ban you without explanation and you are left with mail cant read and you cant log in to your account. For this money you can create your own email forwarding service

Terrible customer service

Reverse alias function not working and customer service is terrible... takes them 2 days to respond to an email... their repsonses are of no use whatsoever and they keep asking the same information... they obviously don't take teh time to read previous email threads. It's beyond FRUSTRATING!!

No support and possibility of being wrongly banned by bots, use at your own risk

I started to use their service recently and while setting everything up, I encountered an small issue at first unrelated with SimpleLogin: Apparently my email provider really hates when SimpleLogin redirects Amazon emails... It marks those as spam even with the anti-spam filter completely disabled! Maybe there is a special phishing filter that stays on? Because of that when the verification emails didn't arrive, I assumed Amazon blocked the new email alias for being a 'disposable email', as I encountered this problem with others services (and I supposedly had no spam filter to interfere). So I tried to create a few others aliases hoping one would finally be accepted, until SimpleLogin sent me an email threatening me to terminate my account for "creating multiple Amazon accounts". Having no idea how they could get to this wrong conclusion, and not wanting to lose access to all my web accounts (and my 1 year plan I just bought), I opened a support ticket... Then after several days without any reaction I opened another... And then I tried to send emails to reach them, without success.

So in conclusion this company seems to be an automated ghost ship. I'm sure this email was created by a dumb automated rule with no human supervision. I see in others reviews this is becoming a new trend. Maybe Proton fired everyone after purchasing the company. But in all cases: You are on your own. The service works (for now), but if something goes wrong, know there is nothing you can do about it, even if you have a paid account. Ironically I am glad this problem happened because at least now I know there is no support and can prepare accordingly.

Keep in mind that if you get terminated, even by a mistaken bot, all your aliases will stop working and you will lose access to all your accounts that uses your email for authentication! To counter that, I decided to buy a domain name and used it to (tediously) recreate all my aliases. That way in case their service go down, I can at least point my domain to another email/alias provider and restore access to my accounts. I strongly suggest you to do that if you plan to use this service, at least for accounts you can't afford to lose. Or maybe just use another service that is actually operated by humans...

Needs work, couldn't accept my Stripe verifications

I got locked out of my Stripe account last week for a former e-mail to get paid for a podcast. Thought I could set it up with my e-mail forwarding from this company as it worked before. It didn't. I had to go through all kinds of steps with Stripe because I did not have access to my e-mail. This works for maybe 8/10 e-mails forwarded. Shouldn't it work for 100%, and the e-mails that matter?

You can't reply as an e-mail alias without jumping through hoops in a weird coding.

It isn't worth the trouble to me. I would rather set up a lovely custom inbox that has catch all or any alternative but this. Proton bought it, and right now, Simple Login does not bear the quality level of other Proton products.

Giving it four stars because the concept is incredible and I want to see it wind up working. So many people are people you know, I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley and never have my real e-mail given out to!

Could not Find a Better One

Having used their services for few years, I find them very competitive and reliable.

I have also had the opportunity to engage with the support team and, while the their response was not immediate, it was within reasonable time and helpful.

It's also worth noting that if you become a paying user, the aliases you've created will remain valid until you disable or delete them, regardless of your subscription.
This is a must that I have found offered by no other competitors.

I hope I won't encounter the issues reported by other users but since this is about my experience, I must give them 5 stars for their services and support.
