I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Sinclair’s Collectibles.

I placed an order on 22 September for over £100. The website states that orders are dispatched within 3 to 5 working days, but I received no communication or dispatch notification.

On 28 September, I emailed to ask where my order was and whether it was actually going to be sent. I was then told that the items had been in a different warehouse and that they would be sent out that day. This was only communicated after I had chased the order myself.

When the parcel finally arrived, I was extremely disappointed with the presentation. The packaging was in poor condition, with dirty sellotape around the box, parts of it not properly sealed, and the lid was missing. For items costing over £100, and particularly as these were purchased as a gift, I expected them to arrive properly packaged and presented.

I immediately emailed to explain that my order had arrived in a complete mess, but I did not receive a response. I then called head office. The lady I spoke to was very nice, but I was told that I needed to continue communicating with the warehouse by email.

The warehouse then responded with the following:

“We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your purchase.

This item has been sent to you in its original MacKenzie Childs packaging. These items come to us directly from the manufacturer in the packaging that they use.”

I understand that this may be the packaging supplied by the manufacturer, but that does not change the fact that, in my opinion, the overall presentation was not acceptable for an item costing over £100 and intended as a gift.

I have since followed up again and am now receiving no response to my emails.

So, from the order apparently not being dispatched until I chased it, to then receiving it in this condition and being unable to get a response to my complaint, the whole experience has been extremely disappointing. Understandably, I cannot give this as a gift now as it is embarrassing.

I would not expect this level of service or presentation from a company selling collectibles as gifts, particularly when spending over £100, and I can quite safely say I would never purchase from this company again.
