lie after lie

Chased order when well over the stated delivery - Spoke to Tony the owner multiple times who promissed each time delivery would be in the coming days ... never materialised. Spoke to Steve the Sales manager - guaranteed would be with us two days later and yet again didn't appear, finally received skirting over a month after ordering.. was damaged but not reporting as they continuely lied so suggest reporting damage would take twice as long as it took to receive. Don't mind about the delay - but do mind that each and every phone call was lied to.. will call you back - no, will be out today, three time - no. Guarantee will be with you - no.... Just tell the truth and stop wasting everyones time!

How could they get worse - avoid

Simple. Avoid like the plague.
I ordered online from this company at the behest of the people who are redoing my study. It was a shockingly bad experience made worse by surly and unhelpful service from a guy called Steve.
1. The online T&C basically tries to waive consumer rights and give this firm carte blanche to deliver at whatever quality (the end product was substandard) and whenever it likes. I'm sure it contravenes fair terms in contracts and they heavily rely on this to deny complaints and would not lift a finger to support me, leaving workmen waiting for days.
2. Customer service was surly and clearly practised in being unhelpful.
3. The real company behind this operation is not the dormant company SkirtingBoardsDirect, but a business called T&T Floors. Despite numerous requests, no legally valid VAT invoice / receipt was produced. I have reported this to Trading Standards and HMRC after giving fair warning.
4. The tracking link eventually provided for delivery was to a dummy staging site. Despite repeated requests, no tracking was provided until the last minute. The delivery couriers DX dumped the skirting in the front garden and refused to deliver to our apartment.
5. After all of that, the skirting itself is of dubious quality and we'll have to chop it about to get anything usable.
Life is too short to deal with unfriendly and dodgy businesses like this. If they had been less impolite and a bit more helpful I'd be less bothered. I wish I'd looked at Trustpilot reviews before ordering.

The company has responded to my review as per the below. Please note the following.
1. My comment re contract terms is correct and the company seeks to expressly disclaim standard consumer protection for online orders. If you ignore all the negative reviews and choose to order from this company, please read the T&C first. I believe these to be Unfair Contract Terms especially in terms of delivery timetable and quality assurance. The value of the order is low enough that I won't bother to engage a solicitor to test this, I'll just manage with what they delivered and reorder elsewhere if necessary. Furthermore, a non-compliant VAT invoice was sent to me and repeated requests for a compliant invoice were refused. This showed wilfull negligence.
2. Asking a company for a bit of help in progressing an order could be met with some politeness and offer of support, rather than the brusque response received. This company's concept of fairness to its customers is reflected in its 2.9* rating on Trustpilot.

We’re very sorry to hear you had such a negative experience. We always aim to provide good service and quality products, and it’s disappointing to learn that we fell short of your expectations on this occasion.

To clarify a few of the points raised:

Our terms and conditions comply with UK consumer law, and we do not waive any customer rights.

We work with national couriers such as DX, who deliver kerbside as standard. Unfortunately, this means they are unable to carry items into apartments or upstairs.

Your order was completed well within the contract period. You placed your order on the 5th, and on the 6th you requested that it be pushed ahead of other customers’ orders. We made it clear at the time that this would not be possible and that your order would be fulfilled within the timeframe stated at the point of purchase. We do not believe it is “completely inflexible and unhelpful” to treat all customers fairly by processing orders in the sequence they are received, rather than prioritising one order over many others.

Quality control is important to us, and we regret if the products you received did not meet the standard expected.

Your comments regarding communication and customer service have been noted and will be reviewed internally. We will continue working to improve so that experiences like yours are not repeated.

Terrible! Do not order from them!

If I could give 0 stars I would, but unfortunately the website will not allow me to. Please do not order from them! I made my order in May, the skirting boards did not arrive for a month despite the website stating 10 days. I had to keep calling and emailing to try and get somewhere with them. I spoke to different people numerous times and they kept making false promises. The skirting boards arrived in more than a month. They were stuck together, wrongly cut and incorrect. I called them and complained. I waited another 2 months. It took calls, emails and constant chasing to get a response and update. 2 months later the correct skirting boards arrived. I went back because I wanted to order the remainder of the skirting boards as I had initially only ordered 2 boards to try for my room. They were TERRIBLE. Steve, the owner, was extremely rude to me when I wrote an email and told them about their service and requested a discount. He was shouting on the phone, interrupting and told me he will not accept an order from me because of my email and my partner’s call. He said we were rude. I was next to my partner when he made the call and we were not rude. I have never experienced anyone as rude as Steve. Do not order from them! The money I have spent on the skirting boards have been a complete waste. I will be reporting them to Trading Standards.

The Manager was RUDE and a LIAR.

The Manager was RUDE and a LIAR.

I was asked to call the company after waiting 3 weeks for some skirting boards, every time I rang, he said he would call me back in about 10mins and never did!

When my manager tried to call and the customer, he was RUDE, disrespectful and was verbally abusive.

Its in my mission to make sure NO ONE orders from this mans CRAP company ever again!

Poor delivery arrangements

The website said it would be 7 to 10 working days for delivery which was fine. I emailed on the 11th working day to ask for some idea on delivery as I needed to make arrangements with my work to receive delivery. I received an email response just saying it's being processed and I'll hear from the courier when it's ready.

I then got an email 3 days later saying the order had been processed and that I'd get notification from the courier about delivery.

I then got a text from the courier the next morning saying it was being delivered today. So I had a grand total of 0 days to arrange my time to receive it. My wife just happened to be home that day to receive it but I was a bit miffed by how it all turned out.

Terrible experience-avoid

Terrible experience. Many phone calls with various assurances given. Eventually after the person I spoke to hung up on me after saying that it could be 30 business days to fulfill the order the goods turned up. They were very badly made with numerous chunks out of them and every end chewed up. Hopefully because they sent in excess of the lengths orders and with a large pot of filler I will be able to do the job. How this company is still in business is a mystery. Next time I will check trustpilot and avoid those with over 60% one star.

Horror story

Horror story. Wish I had read the countless negative reviews before parting with my money. Thankfully used a credit card so I had protection. The worst customer service experience I've ever had. No delivery date was ever sent and never returned all the calls I placed chasing for delivery. Always promised delivery would arrive in the next few days, but never arrived. It would be in a few days, then another conversation I was assured it would be on a courier the next day, another call it was still in production. Such conflicting answers. I was consistently fobbed off, and left hanging with no hope of receiving the goods ordered, or if they eventually turned up months later, be defective and un useable. Please take heed of the other multiple customers experiences before adding yourself to being one of them. Simply detestable company.

We do clearly state that all orders take between 7-10 working days to complete, and customers receive an email once goods have been dispatched for next working day delivery. On your head be it...

60% of 1 star reviews tells its own story.
Phone calls are promised but never returned. Assured deliveries don't materialise. Sent emails seem to mysteriously never make it onto their 'system'. Read the reviews. This is a recurring theme. My personal horror story ended after a couple of weeks of chasing when I sent a polite email cancelling my order. I didn't receive a response (surprised - me neither) so I rang. I was very cordially informed that morning, after first not being able to find my email?, that my order had been cancelled and my money refunded. 4 hours later I received an email advising the goods had been shipped! Now IMO there is stretching the truth or it's the other thing. Dear reader I'll leave you to come to your own conclusion. Said goods arrived OK but the journey from order to despatch was tortuous. Atrocious customer service has been turned into an art form. It does make you wonder what their reaction would be if they were on the receiving end of such cavalier treatment?

For clarity, we do clearly state in the product description that "All boards 220mm and over in height are made up in 2 sections. The sections come square edge ready for fitting one on top of the other." This information is advertised on all relevant skirting board listings.

I need a larger than normal quadrant…

I needed a larger than normal quadrant skirting board. I could only find one supplier - Skirting Boards Direct.
I thought I may have to pay a premium BUT! Very friendly welcome, they had exactly what I wanted and the whole transaction was done very professionally.
Result: I am a delighted customer.

I would recommend them.

DO NOT USE

Got a faulty/ substandard board I couldn’t use for window sill, reported immediately (ie within the ridiculous 12 hours they give you on Ts&Cs on website).

Was told no refund, or only a partial one after a lot of back and forth, and on top of it would have to pay for return postage. DO NOT USE!

Have never come across someone being able to sell you faulty items at your own risk.

Thank you for your feedback. The marks you’re referring to are natural features of beech timber and not defects. This is a characteristic of the material itself and is expected with this type of wood.

As your order was made specifically to your specifications, it is not eligible for a full refund under our terms. We can accept a return arranged and paid for by you, and in that case, a partial refund would be issued upon inspection.

We understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, but we always aim to be clear about the nature of natural wood products and our returns policy.
