Hi Donald - thank you for your email and I've just replied to you to discuss this. As mentioned in my email, everyone is impacted differently by our soup and although most people get along well with our soup, and the dietary fibre and bioactive molecules (particularly glucoraphanin) in our soup are very good for our health, we've had a small number of people who have experienced changes in their digestion as a result of adding a lot more of these compounds into their diet in a short space of time.

We usually find that for this small subset of our customers, introducing the soup to your diet more slowly over a period of time gives more time for your digestion to adapt to the changes and helps to avoid the unpleasant side effect you've mentioned experiencing here. As per my email, I'd be happy to either share the guidance from our dietitian on digestive side effects and how to enjoy our soup without suffering from them, or else arrange for a return and refund of your order.

In terms of eating more than one bowl of soup a week: The bioactive compounds in our soup work to change the way the metabolism in our cells works, through turning on and off different genes inside our cells. All the research both we and others in the field have done indicates that eating a high dose of glucoraphanin once a week is beneficial in this regard. There is also some data to suggest that eating it twice a week may bring additional benefits compared with eating it once a week - but we’ve not yet done the dosing studies that would be required to confirm this and see whether eating it more frequently than twice a week would bring still more additional benefits. Therefore, while there is nothing to suggest that eating our soup more than twice a week would do you any harm, we recommend sticking to eating it once or twice a week, depending on what you can afford, since that's where the strongest evidence lies.

Hi Chris - really sorry to hear about your experience here. First of all, it's concerning to hear that you were shipped damaged products - we'd like to look into this to understand why something like this would have come out to you from our warehouse, which never should have happened.

We're also really concerned to hear about the reaction you appeared to have to our soup. Our soup is made with our unique variant of broccoli, but is a safe functional food product and we've never had any reports of reactions like yours before. I can't find any record of you contacting us previously, so please do so on hello@smarternaturally.com so we can discuss this with you and arrange a refund for your order.

Our product is based on more solid scientific evidence from than 20 years of research, both by ourselves and the wider scientific community, and we're working really hard to create a product and company that works for our customers in a way that we really believe could help make a difference - so it's disappointing to hear you have this view of us. I hope by contacting us directly we can change your negative view of us and what we're trying to do.

Hi David - sorry again about your delivery experience with us. We generally have a good experience with our current couriers, but unfortunately, like many online retailers, we do have issues from time to time with them.

Your feedback is really useful, as we're currently looking at whether we can change the carriers we use to improve our service to customers - whether this means switching all customers onto a new, more reliable courier service, or being able to switch just customers where the local service of our standard couriers in their location is poor, since this would allow us to address the "variance from location to location" in courier service.

Obviously this work doesn't change the bad experience you had, for which I'm sorry and sorry that it cost you as a customer for us. I hope you might consider rejoining us as a customer once we've implemented these changes to our delivery process!

Hi Jean and Barry - I'm really sorry for the experience you've had with us. As explained in my email to you, unfortunately our warehouse is having an issue with booking shipments to the Channel Islands with Royal Mail.

I appreciate this is disappointing and frustrating, but I'm afraid I've given you the best options I could at this time (paying additional postage costs, or a full refund). I am actively still looking into this, as I agree that we should be able to ship to you at our standard rates, and I don't fully understand why this is currently a service we're not able to book with Royal Mail. It came as a surprise to us too.

Apologies again for your experience here - I have tried to keep you updated with the situation as it evolved, but I appreciate that it's still not the experience you were hoping for when you placed your order.
