I bought my saddle originally for my old mare after trying a clients saddle. I couldn’t believe how, after 20yrs of riding in a normal treed saddle she could go so differently and better in this saddle. Instantly better movement an happier horse and she no longer got a strange sweat patch on her shoulder. Fast forward to now and I now use the same saddle on my other horse who is a completely different body shape. She has always been ridden in this saddle having been backed in it. Her back is “perfect”, shes got great top line and never any tightness doesn’t need any shim pads.
I also use the same saddle on my ex racer, he does need shims due to some atrophy, but it’s testament to the saddle that it can go from a wide hunter type horse to a skinny tb. I will say the saddle feels completely different on each horse, obviously because the horse beneath it changes how the saddle sits on their back. But it’s not like sitting on the same saddle like it would be in a treed saddle.
I love my saddle - I recommend them to all my clients - most of them already have them anyway! Customer service is brilliant- always happy to talk through everything. Definitely worth getting a fitter out as opposed to buying one and trying to fit yourself. Would definitely buy another

Hugely disappointed with SMART bought an elite dressage saddle and it has made my pony's back worse. Their customer service is awful. They ask you to get reports from professionals then disregard them to suit their own narrative. They pretend they are going to 'help' and work with you but do the opposite Would never recommend them. Got warmed by other saddlers not to use them wish I had paid attention. Beware of just relying on their Facebook for a non biased review they delete all negative and then block.

I've purchased a few brand new saddles before, but the only one that truly suits my needs and my horse is the Smartsaddle. It consistently provides a perfect fit, and my horse performs wonderfully with it!

I bought a Smart saddle some years ago to be sure that a back issue in my horse was not going to be made worse by his saddle. I had it fitted. It was comfortable for both of us right away, and the saddle transferred easily to my current horse. He is older with some arthritis but you would not guess that to see him work. I school and hack in the Smart saddle and rate it very very highly for both his comfort and mine.

I've just bought my used new smart GPS Saddle, we're getting used to it being so different and if I want to have a saddle saver I need to buy the Heather Moffat suede saver, I'm trying to go without atm although It's difficult as I don't have much 'cushioning' down on the seat area.

I have bought a couple of brand new saddles, the only one that works, is my Smartsaddle, it fits stays a good fit and my horse goes well in it!

My mare has improved in her symmetry over her back unbelievably since getting her smart saddle

Fantastic saddles, I very much wish that I had discovered SmartSaddles before now. The difference in my horses is so good to see and feel, no more cold backs or grumping when girthing up. I feel like the whole riding experience is better for them and me. Now I will say that I am purely a happy hacker, my discipline is......riding because I love the company of my horses. That is it. If you, like me want the best for your horses and seriously can't deal with all the complications that come with modern day saddles then I highly recommend having a go with a SmartSaddle.

I have always been wary about treeless saddles and only through a friends enthusiasm was I convinced to at least speak to a Smart Saddler (as these saddles were in a different league apparently). To be honest I just gave in and the saddler came with a hunter/jumper for me to try. Needless to say Smart didn’t get it back!! My horse instantly moved so much more freely and the saddle naturally put me in a better position. I can’t emphasise enough how much difference this saddle has made! The fact I can put it on my other horses with a different shim set up is an added bonus for me too. The only negatives I can think of is that the brown leather is very dark almost black so you’re going to have to use black stirrup leathers to match and their saddle pads are limited in colours and have their massive logo emblazoned on it which is not to my taste. I’ve had Velcro sewn on to my existing CC pads so I can have what I prefer. I’ve had the saddle 3 months now and still very very happy to recommend!
