Excellent Service

The process of replacing my existing Hearing Aids with new up to date technology Hearing Aids was impressive. The Audiologist, Celeste de Frietas, is very knowledgeable and competent, as well as easy to get on with. I found it reassuring knowing that replacing my Hearing Aids was in capable hands, and all went smoothly.

First class service

The help that I had from Celeste de Freitas was excellent. I had to replace my right hearing aid due to it being lost whilst abroad. My initial consultation was very helpful and the second visit to receive my new hearing aid was excellent. Celeste is a very good and personable individual who makes you feel at ease and helps you all along the way.

Amazing!!!

My consultant, Celeste de Freitas, was absolutely brilliant. She was very professional and explained everything thoroughly. She made the whole experience a pleasure. I hadn't realised how bad my hearing had become until I was fitted with my hearing aids. I just wish I had had them sooner.

Excellent service

I cannot thank Celeste enough for how she handled the delicate situation with getting my mum hearing aids, she was very reluctant and worried about the process and wearing them, but Celeste was amazing simplifying and being direct with her tone and language to accommodate my mum. Being thorough and ensuring any worries that she could anticipate were answered and demonstrated.
Celste gave mum confidence and was very generous with her time, putting my mum at ease and helping bring her back into the conversation now she can hear and join in on what we are saying.
So pleased with the process, fitting and follow up service.

Excellent service.

I have recently transferred to THCP following the retirement of my audiologist, imagine my alarm when I lost one of my hearing aids just a few days after he had retired.
Since then I have had two appointments, one to have my replacement aid fitted and another for ear wax removal, both with very thorough, good humoured and helpful professionals. First class service and excellent value for money.

Went to see James

Went to see James, Had a blocked hear he’s was quick and efficient to book me in and cleaned both hears. Hearing is a 1000 times better now. Highly recommend people to get this done.

Misleading + psycho-babble

I had a hearing test because I find it difficult to hear clearly what someone is saying among a group of 6 or so people. I'm sure the testing was accurate, showing I have some hearing loss, but the advice was not. I was told I wasn't "normal" because I react strongly to sounds but I have asked well over 20 people if they react strongly and only 2 said no.

I was told such reaction was "misophonia," a supposedly emotional condition but I don't agree with so-called "disorders" or "conditions" (unless they are physical) and reject the medicalisation of everyday life (however troubling) - see Thomas Szasz. The company responded to my review by telling me that this "disorder" is "science" but that's just what I am disagreeing with. I think this type of "science" is pseudo-science and, to stress the point, there are no such "disorders" or "conditions" and I am opposed to the medicalisation of everyday life. It's a question of ethics, not medicine.

I was told to seek CBT which I don't agree with; it's superficial. I was told I had moderate to severe hearing loss but I researched this and "moderate hearing loss" means not being able to hear someone speaking at normal volume, which I have no problem with, even when someone is wearing a mask, usually. If anything I have mild hearing loss but can still hear leaves rustling etc. The company's response to my review does not even attempt to address this.

I was told I'd have to wait a year for an NHS hearing test, but a number of my friends have had one within a few months, and that NHS hearing aids are poor but I researched this too and found that many people got infections from invisible in-the-ear aids and had gone back to the NHS. The NHS aids are free; private ones are £1,500 to £5,000.

Regarding your concerns over the discussion of Misophonia - this is a well-recognised condition within the scientific community. If you are interested in exploring the scientific evidence on this subject then I would like to direct you to this article as a starting point: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fnins.2018.00036/full. During your appointment, your audiologist's responsibility was to provide you with information and advice to help to lessen the impact on your life of your strong reaction to certain sounds. However, it is of course entirely your decision on how you proceed with this information and we are glad that you have assessed the options and decided that you are happy to continue as you are without further intervention.

In terms of your concerns over the reported level of hearing loss that you are experiencing, these classifications are based on empirical measurements of audibility (which were measured during your hearing assessment), rather than subjective assessments of sounds you are able or unable to hear in everyday life. Finally, regarding NHS hearing tests and hearing aids, we are sorry that you felt the information was misleading. The waiting times for NHS hearing assessments have recently been longer than in previous years due to a backlog caused by the restriction of services as a result of Covid-19. We are happy to hear that your acquaintances have been able to obtain assessments in a shorter time period than we were aware of and will pass on this information to the audiologist in your area. Additionally, NHS hearing aids are of course a good option for many patients, however, the technology used is several years old compared to privately purchased hearing aids and therefore will not include many of the more recently developed advanced sound processing features, therefore potentially leading to poorer hearing outcomes, or reduced sound quality. Finally, it is exceedingly rare for hearing aids of any kind to lead to infections as long as they are correctly fitted. As a company, we pride ourselves in providing safe, quality hearing care and therefore would of course work closely with any patient experiencing issues of this type to rectify the situation and identify a suitable solution, without the need of the patient to resort to visiting either the NHS or another private provider.

We hope that this has helped to alleviate some of your concerns regarding the information which you were given during your appointment and hope that you can obtain satisfactory assistance with your hearing concerns in the near future. I am very pleased of the service iv received and am so happy with my glasses also with my hearing and tinnitus and am very delighted with the staff they are all amazing and friendly easy to talk to
