I got my mortgage from a mainstream lender who other brokers have had access to and been able to give a competitive quote. It's the service that differentiates them. In this department the mortgage genie excelled.

I used Andrew Dougal and explained to him that I was looking for a second mortgage for my elderly father but I'd used another broker who said he could not help me and was offering a rate of 5.99%!! The mortgage was going to be in the region of £1,400 instead of the £850 I've managed to arrange by not using either!

Instead of Andrew helping me and my father he called the broker and told him he wasn't going to 'step on his toes' and then came back to say I hadn't been accepted through Newcastle building society. (the other broker actually told me he called him to say this).

I then used a random broker found online in Chris at The Gateshead mortgage Co who passed me with flying colours! The service was an absolute shambles and its possible they had agreed to split the higher amount of commission owed to them by ''not stepping on each others toes''
I'm considering contacting the FCA regarding the problems as I'm sure they'll be very interested in these sort of practices.

Absolutely excellent service from Tom Clarke. He made our mortgage process looks so easy. It was very difficult due to Umbrella Company I am using, but he was just outstanding. Highly recommended.

Fantastic service, was suggested to them by father in law who used them and couldn't fault the service. I have now used for two mortgages and honestly there fantastic. Eoin can't help enough, polite, professional and gets the job done simply, quickly and takes away all the stress. I have several mortgages elsewhere and soon as there due I'll be straight on phone to Eoin. He also sorted out our life insurance providing better cover, for less money. Guy is a legend

Daniel and Jake are professional, polite and communicate effectively. What took another broker over 7 months to not even come close to completion was done in 8 weeks with the Mortgage Genie. We were updated every step of the way and their solicitor appointment was fantastic too. The whole process has been great and we cannot thank you all enough.

We've had great support in finding a mortgage through mortgage genie throughout our whole experience, as we were unsuccessful buying a property twice but finally successful last time. Andrew was great in finding us a mortgage that worked for our personal conditions (recently on fixed term contract and PhD with a stipend) where other mortgage advisors said they couldn't help.

Rebecca made my experience as painless and as close to enjoyable as a remortgage can be, restructuring my payments to give me flexability and finding the best possible deal. I'm about as likely to recommend a mortgage broker as I am an operating system but I would most definitely use them again. And look for a link on a cashback website to save a bit more
