Dear Owner,
Dear Owner,
I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding a series of incidents that I have experienced at your bakery.
On my first visit, I was short-changed by £1.20. I initially assumed this was a genuine mistake. However, on my second visit, I was again short-changed, this time by £0.70. When the same thing happened for a third time and I was once again short-changed by £0.70, I became concerned that this was no longer a simple error.
I raised the issue with staff and asked to speak to the manager. I was informed that the manager was not present. A female member of staff eventually returned the missing £0.70 and offered an apology, but the manner in which I was treated throughout the interaction was completely unacceptable.
When I attempted to explain my concerns, including the rude attitude shown towards me before the short-changing incident, I was met with hostility. I was told, “Don’t play that card” when expressing my concerns, a comment that I found dismissive and offensive. I was also called a “dikhed” by a member of staff.
Most concerning of all, I was told to “come back at 3:15pm round the side.” Given that the bakery closes at 3:00pm, I found this comment extremely intimidating and interpreted it as a threat or an invitation to a physical confrontation. No customer should ever be spoken to in this manner for raising a legitimate complaint.
As the only Indian customer present at the time, the repeated short-changing and the response I received when challenging it left me feeling deeply uncomfortable and concerned. While I cannot know the intentions behind the behaviour, I believe it is important to make you aware of how the situation appeared from my perspective.
I have always believed that mistakes can happen, but being short-changed on three separate occasions, combined with rude, aggressive and intimidating behaviour from staff, is entirely unacceptable. Customers should be treated with courtesy and respect, particularly when they are simply asking for the correct change and seeking to raise a concern.
I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter thoroughly and inform me what action will be taken. I hope you will take this complaint seriously, as no customer should have to experience the treatment that I received.
I would not recommend, racist staff
