THE WORST EMPLOYER EVER. VERY TOXIC ENVIRONMENT ❌ AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

Advice to Job Seekers 👉 If you receive a job offer from any company where the owner is Neil Degg, run. The money is not worth the toxic environment and your happiness.

The company name changes every few years, which is a huge red flag. If you want to read more reviews, search for "The Big Initiative". The current name is The Vocational Training Hub or TTH Group ( another old name was The Training Hub). I imagine they'll change it again soon.

Leadership:
The owner/CEO is a bully. He bullies his business partner and staff during meetings, in front of everyone. He has threatened staff in front of the whole office that they will not pass probation, or shared personal information such as salary.
Every business decision is made based on the owner's feelings, with no business plan behind anything. They hire 5–6 people at the same time with no plan, then after a month or so either fire them without reason or change their job role, and the same thing keeps happening over and over every couple of months, for the past 5–6 years.

Probation:
Almost nobody passes probation. Everyone's probation period gets extended by 1–4 months without exception and without reason.

Working Hours & Flexibility:
No flexibility whatsoever. Everyone has to take a 10-minute break at the same time in the morning, 10 minutes in the afternoon, and a 40-minute lunch break, like it's an army
Staff are expected to arrive 30 minutes before the official start time just because the CEO wants it, despite working hours being 9–17:30 in the contract.
Contracts stated hybrid working, but management suddenly enforced full-time office attendance for everyone, except one favoured individual who works 4 days from home and 1 day in the office (likely a family connection or similar)

Management Style:
Micromanagement to an extreme level. Zero trust in team members, every single thing you do is monitored and controlled.
HR has login access to everybody's inboxes and checks work emails, Zoom chats, and Monday boards on a daily basis which is so wrong.
Everyone sits in one small office together including the CEO and business partner, however nobody is allowed to talk to each other, ask questions or ask for support. Instead, you are expected to send your question via email , Zoom message or a Monday ticket. CEO is so arrogant that he messages his staff for anything while he is just sitting next to them.

Culture & Colleagues:
Colleagues are nice, but you can't even build friendships with them. As soon as management notices you're getting close with someone, they'll fire you both with no reasonable explanation.

Feedback — Going Nowhere:
They sent an anonymous feedback form to all employees. Around 90% of responses raised similar concerns. Nothing came from it, instead, more people were fired within a week.

Review as a previous employee:

Review as a previous employee:
- Very incompetent and weak senior management.
- Experienced staff/ SMEe treated as children!
- zero flexibility! Including break and lunch times!!
- No room to suggest better ideas.
- Contract termination for no reason and no warning.
- Toxic work environment where idiots are bosses.

THE ONLY POSITIVE ABOUT WORKING AT TTH WAS CITY CENTRE LOCATION.

Confusing

It's hard to find anything good about these courses.

Inconsistent navigation. Which means you spend time exactly which graphical element you're meant to click on.

Inconsistent timings that force you to stare at a screen after completing a section waiting for a timer to count down.

All of which distract you from content which is poorly structured, badly written and in some places - plain wrong.

There's a 'test' at the end - which is impossible to get less than 100%.

This is bad enough, but when the course relate to safety, well-being of vulnerable people - it's dangerously irresponsible.

Honestly this is the worse training hub ever, imagine spending 45mins on a training because they want you to read and there’s a specific time that wouldn’t let you move until it finishes the count down.

Do they think people don’t know how to read quickly, I reckon those that set that time must be bunch of dumb individuals that can’t read quickly.

Not everyone is a slow reader like them, fix this.

Appalling.Worst training site I have ever used.Incredibly slow clunky interface. The content is good but delivered really badly through the portal. Each page takes around 10 seconds to load.A 3 minute video takes around 7 minutes as you cannot move forward until a ridiculously frustrating timer lets you....spme 4 minutes after the videp has finished playing.A classic example of you get what you pay for...and it is free.I have never been so frustrated, demotivated and annoyed at any website ever.Way too time consuming when other portals give the same content in a quarter of the time.A course that should've taken 25 minutes took well over 90 then did not save, did not tecord me as passing and expects me to waste another 90 minutes doing it again.Absolutely dreadful interface that IT or website designers could fix to make much more user friendly.

Avoid avoid avoid

The management is truly awful and a surprise they're still in business. Staff are micromanaged on every point. There isn't senior management. Management doesn't describe it. Clueless in the projects they were looking to deliver with no fraction of a plan, leading to several people being let go because of their naivety. Zero company culture.

All the "positive" reviews - I have not experienced any of these job titles when I was there.

words cannot describe how awful this is...egregious perhaps. Have wasted precious hours on my days off trying to complete about 13 modules before I earn a penny. I have tried 4 or 5 times to complete some and it kept telling me to press complete but there was no complete icon. Don't waste your time. Has also cost me 50 quid with the DBS. Absolute joke.

Just completed the saving money in a cost of living crisis course and was disgusted to see them pushing propaganda around the Russia/Ukraine war.

I've always thought this training platform was naff, loads of little mistakes, out dated data etc, but this is a step too far.

Not streamlined in the slightest

Not streamlined in the slightest with no thought put in for the older generation on how press next in the lessons, 60 year olds can't exactly see the tiny button on the side of a virtual watch/ TV remote to skip to the next lesson and word limits for questions should be clear. Took hours to complete because of the lack of streamlining

Terrible customer service

They didn't add EFAW to the course I paid for and whenever I called them they hung up half way through the call. Dealing with them was like pulling teeth.

It is absurd that they called me and told me I am being selected for a job interview with Samsung and the only way to get the interview is to pay for the training with training hub, which has no refunds. When I paid for the same class with another place that does have a refund, they immediately emailed me and told me clearly I wasn't serious about the job and I am now disqualified. I would recommend staying away from these folks.

Disorganised .. pointless .. waste of time

- The CEO definitely is trying to rip off 'Udemy', with a launch of a new business model, however, with the lack of experience in this area & training currently focused on Adult / Social Care, this leap will certainly fail as they won't be able to compete with the bigger players.
- The CEO definitely has ideas of grandeur, however, doesn't seem on the face of it to have the financial backing to implement this .. on several occasions I've heard that 'we can't afford X role'. I was worried about getting paid .. given I had no formal documentation ... I did chase on a couple of occasions and met with hostility.
- The CEO likes to have some power-play over his staff & comes in tracksuits .. whereas his employees are asked to wear business attire .. having such a leadership style is maybe one of the reasons this business has a high turn over of staff.
- There is ZERO atmosphere in the office and staff are asked to email/phone other colleagues when the office is really small, you could just walk up to the person (yes we are in the middle of a pandemic .. but you could still social distance). However, with that being said .. the use of phones doesn't look great to others when you're on the phone with solicitors, talking about them taking a case, about the none payment of business office rent since March 2020.
- I did notice that they used their Jira tool to schedule interviews and saw they mentioned about one candidate as 'scatty' ... very unprofessional and I'm sure illegal
