I would give them less than 0 stars if…

I would give them less than 0 stars if I could. We had generally positive experiences with Ting until recently (until they got bought out?). However, in the last 2 months we have had nothing but problems:
-my husband bought a new phone from their site, and paid for rush shipping. They did not ship for two weeks, and when he called to ask why, they just kept repeating “it shows here your phone will ship on (date).” No explanation or apology and no refund of the additional shipping cost.
-My son bought a new iPhone from Apple, which only takes eSIM. According to Ting’s website they recently began doing eSIM. We attempt to install the eSIM that THEY PROVIDED, and it wouldn’t work. I called Ting and they told me they don’t do eSIM and that I must be looking at the wrong website.
-due to these issues we decided to swap carriers. Received SIM cards from the new carrier and try to install a card into my husband’s recently purchased phone. It won’t work—so I call the new carrier. A very nice representative spent 90 minutes with me attempting to get it to work. We finally conferenced called Ting. The ting rep insisted the phone is unlocked. I go into Settings and the phone is locked to DISH. The Ting rep then said “oh…. We will submit an unlock request and it will take THREE DAYS.”

So basically, they have no idea what they are doing, the representatives have a script they follow and will not deviate from it/can’t answer anything, and though ting allegedly sells unlocked phones, they actually sell phones that are locked (whether the reps know this, I am not sure).

Just get Mint mobile, they are wonderful!

Ting using Boost Mobile sucks...

A little background first. I have a Samsung 7 and it works great. I have had no issues with this phone OR Ting in the past. I have been a Ting customer for years and loved it. No issues at all. Then they informed me they were upgrading to 5g and sent me the "X3" sim. The first thing I did was check to see if the new sim was compatible with my old phone and it is. As soon as I inserted the new sim it would not see the sim! I called Ting and tried everything. They decided to send a 2nd sim. That took about 4 days to rcv the new sim even though they said it would take 2-3 business days. I had my hopes up with the 2nd sim. It connected to the Boost Network. The next day I went to work and got no network connection. All it would let me do is make emergency calls from my workplace. It was the same at restaurants nearby. No network. I contacted them again. Went thru all the motions again; remove and install sim; reset the network to default; set the APN to dish.com. Nothing worked. It seemed to work only near a strong signal. It worked at my home but not at my workplace where it has worked flawlessly for years. I called them again and they sent another sim. Same issue. When I called them again the only explanation they could give is that my phone is too old even though its a compatible phone. The problem I believe is that Ting was sold to Dish and they use Boost network which is horrible. I had no issues when Ting was using T-Mobile. So now I am forced to live with the horrible connection, or buy a new phone and try the current sim or just try another company. I am really disappointed with Ting now. I really don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to accommodate the sim to get a network connection at my workplace. My S7 works great. Why force me to get a new phone to get a good network connection?? Thats crazy!!

Customer Service is NOT what it once was!

I have been with Ting for over 9 years. Their customer service used to be great, but since the merger, it went downhill fast. The new SIM card routine in December 2024 was the final straw. After 3 weeks of my wife's phone not being able to make calls and numerous (5+) calls to customer service (with some calls over an hour long), I got nowhere. The Reps just read off a script and if your problem is not listed, there is no one they will "bump" you up to. Very frustrating!!!

Credit Card charged double/Service not discontinued upon request

My credit card was charged double in October 2024. The bill showed the correct amount. My credit card was deducted for double the amount. I disputed the charge with my credit card company for the overage amount. Ting asked me to pay a $15 fee because I disputed the overage amount with the CC company. Please stay away from this company. Something has changed in the last several months. The customer service isn't what it used to be.

Is it too much to ask to have a phone/SIM that actually works?

Day 19 and my phone still does not work. My phone will no longer send or receive MMS messages since I installed the new 5G SIM Ting, sent me. They sent me a second new 5G SIM and it still won't work. I have tested the second SIM in 3 phones. It won't work in any of them. I have talked to, chatted with, and sent service requests to at least 13 service representatives. They have "created a ticket" for the tech team twice. When I call to check on the progress of the ticket they say there is no record of it. I foolishly wasted another 48 hours waiting for them to help me. I have a phone that has not worked properly for almost 3 weeks. I am unable to get any useful help. I have gone through all of the troubleshooting on Ting's web site, chat feature, and been on the customer service line multiple times. On one phone call I was transferred to T-mobile Business, and then to Boost Mobile. One of the customer representatives thanked me for being a loyal customer for more than 100 months. After being a loyal customer with 5 lines for that long, they now don't seem to care that my phone works properly.
If you are considering of choosing Ting, be warned they are willing to go to great lengths to NOT get your problem solved.
It appears I am paying for a phone/SIM that does not work and Ting refuses to solve the problem.

AVOID Ting

After many years of having service for Ting we decided to change carriers because their service got WORSE when they were bought out by a bigger company. After moving my service they STILL CHARGED another month of service even though I provided confirmation that the service changed at least one month earlier. Typically, they claimed something about the "user agreement."

AVOID Ting altogether!! Bad phone service and bad customer service.

Sent a new sim card to the wrong…

Sent a new sim card to the wrong address twice. Customer service said they'd send again to current address, but nothing happened for 10 days. Contacted them again, and they said they'd send to the current addres (and did) but left out part of the address. I am abroad and get the mail forwarded, so probably will not receive the SIM before the cut off date.

Sharp decline in customer service

I used Ting for years after I left the US, it was a great service worth paying for to keep the number ready to go on return trips - until they told me they were sending a replacement SIM to my old address. I told customer service I have moved, they sent the SIM card anyway. It took two more attempts to cancel the account and they don't seem to be responding at all to emails. Really disappointing.

I can’t even access my own account!

I can’t even access my own account even if I contact customer service. This has happened twice to me because of their antiquated methods!!! I lost my phone in Mexico and they needed the phones ID information to retrieve my login - since it was lost I couldn’t provide it. So I bought a new phone and signed up for a different company. It’s like Ting never consider their customers might lose their phone????? So now, my mother is still on the account because she’s the only was who still has a physical SIM card (ting doesn’t do digital sim) and once again I can’t access my own account with out my mothers phone ID information. She doesn’t live with me and there is no way I’m going to explain to a 72 year old woman over the phone how to retrieve it. COME ON TING!!!! there are modern ways to give me access to my account!!!!! Well, the next time I see my mom in person you better believe I’m grabbing that info and canceling my 12+ year account. Way to go Ting on be a first class dummy. Rule #1 - do not block entry customer entry into your product!!!!!

DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE

DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE. I had it for years and they recently made some changes that have made this service very unappealing. You will not be able to get any help, not ever. They are outsourced now. They will overcharge you and there is no one to help. I've cancelled but am still being charged. Still trying to get help.... still trying....

Support is a wait time in hell!

Service is lightning fast! Sometimes faster than my video card! Support is NON-existent!
I needed to pay my bill, with a new debit card and after an hour and a half on hold, I just gave up!
Not only is the wait time a lifetime, but the hold music is absolutely insufferable!

Outstanding service

Outstanding service, picked up calls quickly. Polite and easy to understand representatives. Very inexpensive and good reception. They always handle any concern I have had efficiently and most importantly I do not feel pressured to buy services, etc.. like I have with T-mobile or Verizon. My experience with Ting mobile extends back more than two years.

Ting is incredibly crooked,but also very stupid. i signed up with them after being referred by a friend so i received a $25 credit on my first bill. I had the Flex plan, which is $10 a month plus $5 for every GB of data. I only use WiFi so i didn't expect to have to pay anything for data. But if you use a Smart Phone (even in airplane mode only) you will still get minute data leaks. So they will charge you $5 for a GB of data even though you've used a mere few KB's. For this reason I decided to cancel with them and start using phone over internet. Upon cancelling, Ting tried to bill me when i owed nothing. Luckily when i signed up with them i used a burner credit card and told them that my name was Sigmund Freud ( like I said, they hire very stupid people) which went totally over their heads. So, all in all, I avoided their swindle.

Lying thieves

They said they supported both tmobile and verizon, but they only sent me a tmobile chip, and then said they couldn't support verizon. I cancelled the service. Then, a month later, they charged me for a month's service. I had to call 3 times before I got anybody who actually could recognize me, who said they wouldn't refund the month service. They are liars and thieves.

Worst experiences ever

One of the worst experience i have ever had with a cellphone company been with them for a year or so was stuck on there old plan which gives you barely any wiggle room to work with data wise never sent any promotional emails or anything about there new $15 a month deal was stuck paying upwards of $45 a month for MBs of 4G no associate or sales person said anything about me being stuck on this outdated plan that they axed months ago been overpaying like crazy very angry

Account closed without any authorization

Without any authorization, Ting mobile cancelled my account saying that I had closed my account. I have three lines and did not close this account. I did call to inquire about international usage and that was all. It is now 19:15 and I have to wait until their service dept. opens at 8 am ET. Very disappointing and frustrating.

They claim I used 12 GB of data in one…

They claim I used 12 GB of data in one day, all in the background. I have my account set to suspend data after 5 GB. I do not believe that I actually did use all this data in one day, but even if somehow I did, it should have been cut off after 5 GB. When I complained to them, they simply told me that the feature to cut off data doesn't work (even though when I look at my account it still has that setting). Now they want me to pay $155 for one month of phone service.
Update: Ting charged me $155 but I got my money back by doing a chargeback through my bank. Ting then shut my phone off. They offered me a $100 credit if I would reverse the chargeback, but I am not interested in a credit with Ting since I will never do business with them again.

Ting sucks

Two ting employees were in front of my house, I don’t know what they were doing. Their truck was blocking our driveway. Then they took off their rubber gloves and threw them in our yard. They are rude and unprofessional. I wouldn’t get ting if you paid me a million dollars.

As stated by many other customers recently this company has suffered greatly due to recent changes. the customer experience used to be amazing, customer support were knowledgeable and took time and effort to fully address queries. All seems to be off-shored now and the team just parrot scripted comments and do not solve problems - awful.
