Avoid any premises with a top up meter If you run a food business
If you run a food business, or frankly any commercial operation where reliable power is essential, do not take a premises with a Top Up Meter. It is simply not worth the risk to your stock, your livelihood, or your sanity.
Their system for alerting you to low credit is shockingly inept and dangerously irresponsible. The only warning you receive when your electricity usage is getting critically low is an automated email containing a "top up here" link—except the link has no actual URL attached to it -despite asking them twice to repair it. You literally cannot click through to pay them to keep your own power on. When you pay them it says paid and when your check back is still showing a negative credit and customer service attitude " oh maybe the signals a bit weak- meh!!"
I have complained about this broken, glitchy alert system endless times, and their customer service team genuinely could not care less. They offer zero sense of urgency, zero accountability, and completely ignore the fatal consequences a sudden power cut has on commercial fridges and freezers, especially if you aren't on site all the time - imagine not being tied to your desk 7 days a week next to their meter. They truly do not give a damn about their customers or they would have fixed this simple technical oversight
Save yourself the stress, the lost food stock, and the operational nightmares. Avoid Top Up Meters completely.
