I am a numpty BUT heck no VISA prompt!…
I am a numpty and didn't check my VISA status... Then again I wasn't even there to book the ticket in person. The agency however allowed an elderly lady to complete and assumed the other passenger had the right papers without any indication or warning.... If I had booked on line it would have raised the point in process. Complete dereliction of basic duty of care, borders onto negligence. I really don't know what value add (or minus, minus = add) there is.

While we understand your frustration, we would like to clarify a few important points for the sake of transparency and fairness.
Although the flight was booked by a longstanding and trusted customer on your behalf, we do recall that you were present in our office during part of the consultation. You left before the travel dates were finalised. At no point was any visa or immigration status discussed or requested from you, nor was it indicated that you were unsure of your travel eligibility.
As a standard part of our service, we display clear signage in our office advising all travellers to check their entry and visa requirements, and all booking documents explicitly state that it is the traveller's responsibility to ensure they meet immigration criteria. This is an industry-wide standard, both for in-person and online bookings.
You mention that an online platform would have flagged this. In practice, many online travel sites do not verify visa or immigration eligibility at the point of booking. Most provide general guidance links but do not assess individual circumstances. Likewise, once tickets are issued, your contact details were updated with the airline. If there had been an issue that fell under the airline’s duty of care, they may also have contacted you directly.
Had you been unsure at any stage, we would have gladly advised you further — we are always happy to assist. We regret that this was not raised during the booking process, as we could have worked together to avoid any disappointment.
