Misled
I was a customer of Keep for over two years, and unfortunately my experience took a very disappointing turn.
When I first signed up, I was told the service would always be free. Without any prior notice, they introduced a $19.99 weekly fee and removed the free option entirely. This felt misleading and unfair, especially for long-time users.
Earlier on, I also learned the hard way that reward points expire. I had been saving mine to redeem for higher-value rewards, only to lose them before I could use them.
At one point, I was offered the opportunity to increase my credit limit by depositing funds. I deposited $5,000 based on the understanding that the account would transition from secured to unsecured within about six months, at which point my funds would be returned. However, after six months, I was told to wait longer. Even after a full year, nothing had changed. My money remained with them, earning no interest, and I received no clear answers.
To make matters worse, the new weekly fee was introduced just before I could use my remaining rewards, effectively forcing me to pay to access them. As a result, I lost approximately $30 in rewards.
I ultimately decided to close my account. Although I did eventually receive my $5,000 back, it took time, and my account still showed as open a month later. Between the lost rewards, lack of transparency, and time spent dealing with customer service, the overall experience has been frustrating.
I feel misled on multiple occasions and am now considering filing a formal complaint.
Bait-and-switch: No notice, sudden subscription fee after 1 year of free use
I used Keep’s business Mastercard completely fee-free for a full year with zero issues. It was exactly as marketed no monthly or weekly charges. I don’t know what happened to “Forever Free”they promoted when I signed up.
Then in March 2026 I suddenly saw a subscription fee appear in my dashboard (approximately $19.99 per week / ~$80 per month, billed every 4 weeks). I received no email, no pop-up warning, and no advance notification about this major policy change. The only email I ever got from Keep about the subscription was the billing confirmation after the change had already taken effect.
Their own Cardholder Agreement clearly states that fee changes require at least 30 days’ notice via email. That did not happen here. This feels like a classic bait-and-switch on long-time customers.
I have yet to redeem my reward points for travel (only available while the account is active). I am also filing formal complaints with the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) and Consumer Protection BC over the lack of proper notice and misleading business practices.
Keep, if you’re reading this, a simple email to existing users before rolling out a $1,000+ annual fee would have gone a long way. Many other small business owners are in the same boat and are leaving for Venn, Loop, or Float.
Would NOT recommend.
BAIT AND SWITCH: Charging $84/mo for an unactivated card!
Absolute bait and switch. I signed up for Keep because it was advertised as a no-fee business card. Out of nowhere, they hit my account for $83.99 for a 'subscription' I never agreed to. To make matters worse, I haven't even activated the physical card yet.
Charging a 'subscription fee' on an unactivated account is predatory. If you're a small business owner in Canada, stay away. They are currently pivoting from a free service to forced paid tiers with almost zero notice. Filing a formal complaint with Service Alberta Consumer Protection today. Total scam.
No longer free. Bait-and-switch. $20 per week!
Mandatory $19.99/week fee now, after being marketed and sold to me as a free card. Their revenue should come from transaction fees, not account fees. Sure this is a small price to pay as a business but there's many other options out there like Venn and Loop. I don't see the rewards and other benefits being worth over $1,000 per year-- that's more than an American Express Platinum.
Their service was "fine", with some minor technical issues, but nothing that impressive. I've started using Venn instead.
They gained a bunch of new customers by offering a low cost (free) product, and now force you to upgrade to a paid plan. I understand business conditions change, but they didn't grandfather existing long-term customers in, and I can't trust them. Who thought this was a good way to do business? (The CTO emailed everyone an apology but said the decision stands firm).
After over 15 months as a client and now +$1,000 per year to have this card
After over 15 months as a client, they have introduced their Premium blablabla service for 19,99 per week. (+$1,000 per year) to access the credit - no opt-out option. This cost is more than expensive than a Platinum American Express card that offers over $3K in direct perks per year, plus lounge access.
Keep for Small business is a complete joke and it is definitely not recommended at all
Not worth the cost
It was a great service before they added an over priced weekly charge of 49$ can, when I went to cancel my ‘Free Trial’ it offered it at 29$ can per week. This is to much for what it is.
I feel concern for small businesses who have have taken a loan from them and can’t pay it back before their ‘free trial’ ends.
The company is a joke
The company is a joke. They just added a $29.99 a week fee to my card. $1,559.48 a year to have this card
No-Fee Card Is Now $80/Month — With No Opt-Out
I signed up for Keep's business Mastercard based on its no-fee positioning for small businesses. In March 2026, without meaningful advance notice, Keep introduced a mandatory $19.99/week subscription fee — approximately $80/month — to continue using the card. There is no opt-out. Declining means closing your account.
I received an earlier email framing this as an exciting new upgrade with a free trial. I did not respond, as I did not want the additional service. I was not informed that non-response would be treated as enrolment.
When I contacted customer service, I was told the fee was non-negotiable and account closure was the only alternative.
This is a material change to the product's terms, introduced without transparent disclosure or informed consent. Trustpilot reviews from other customers this month confirm this is a widespread experience — cardholders discovering mid-trial that billing had already begun, with no prior email communication.
Keep targeted small businesses that traditional lenders overlooked. Introducing a compulsory subscription fee once those customers are reliant on the card is not the behaviour of a trustworthy financial partner. I will be fiing a complaint with the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) and encourage others to do the same.
Keep just turned into a scam as of March 2026)
Time for another review. Keep just turned into a big scam. After almost a year of using their credit card, they hit customers all of a sudden with a subscription fee of 29.99 CAD per WEEK! This equals an annual credit card fee of 1560 CAD!
I believe this business operation is illegal. I can't imagine that the Canadian law supports a scam like that.
People, go to Float, Vault, or Loop. Similar services and way more transparent.
Beware of bait and switch
Beware of bait and switch. My non-profit signed up for keep a year ago to use their cards and had a fantastic experience onboarding and use the platform. We wanted to sign up for the bank account too, but were not eligible.
A year later, all of a sudden, and with no prior notice, I receive an email that we are on a 4 week trial, our account is upgraded, and will be charged $20/week to continue using the platform.
After communicating with their support team, they tell me that this is not an optional upgrade. I explain that the fees are higher than the operating budget of our fully volunteer drive non-profit, and I am looking for a way to make this work or failing that, we would need a longer time than 4 weeks to find an alternative. Keep would not budge.
For a startup company not to value their customers and to treat them in this manner tells you everything you need to know.
Surprise subscription fees, poor disclosure, and sloppy support
Keep looked good at first, but my overall experience ended up feeling like a classic bait-and-switch.
I signed up in July 2025, got approved for a business Mastercard, and started moving my business expenses over. Their advertised interest free grace period and overall setup seemed attractive and well suited for business needs. But over time, the cracks showed.
First, their own help documentation listed the wrong support email, so when I needed help after an address change, my message went nowhere. Despite eventually finding the correct Support email and also advising them of the discrepancy in their documentation back in October 2025 they still have it listed incorrectly now in March 2026 which demonstrates a very real lack of attention to detail.
Second, Keep asked for sensitive verification documents by regular email. When I raised concerns, I was told the communication was ‘fully encrypted and secure,’ which was inaccurate and misleading. Regular email is not generally considered a secure method for transmitting sensitive documents, and Keep did not provide a proper secure portal unless I pushed back.
Then came the deal-breaker. In March 2026, just by chance, I logged in to my account and discovered via a pop-up message that I was supposedly in the middle of a “4 week free trial,” after which I would have to pay $19.99 PER WEEK just to keep using the card. There had been no clear communication to me beforehand, not even a single e-mail notice that I received. I was already partway into the trial without even knowing it.
That is outrageous. I signed up for a business card product, not a surprise weekly subscription. Whether or not additional features were introduced (in their opinion) does not justify how this was handled. A fundamental change to pricing (especially introducing a weekly subscription) should be clearly disclosed and require informed consent, not be quietly applied through a trial that the user may not even be aware of.
The fact that this was not communicated clearly and was not (and still is not) prominently disclosed on their main site made it feel incredibly shady and predatory.
Keep markets itself as a modern alternative to traditional banks, but in my opinion it has become worse. Between subscription fees, reduced value, poor communication, questionable document-handling practices, and a lack of transparency, it's impossible to trust them with my business. I canceled the subscription immediately and have moved my spending elsewhere.
I would not recommend Keep to any business owner considering them. There are other recent reviews raising the same concerns, which suggests this is not an isolated experience.
they say it is free but after one year…
they say it is free but after one year they want $49 per week for the card and some other features. Cancelled them.
Irony is their website still says "Always free" in the FAQS.

Advertised Free then slap you with $30 PER WEEK
Advertised Free and once you take the time to move your banking with them they slap you with $30 weekly.
Their reward system is horrible. while 1.5 points per $100 is similar to most banks, you cannot use them because the price of their flights are double the market. you get 56 days to pay back the card but defenitely not worth it when paying 132/month to use that in subscription fees anyway plus the equivalent of 60% interest (when they no interest just fees that’s what they mean the equivalent of 60% interest plus subscription) on your balance after that. After wasting my time with keep, I found a much better Fintech for businesses in Canada. That’s have more products in their free subscription and offer e-transfer and more.

Just stay away from this credit card…
Just stay away from this credit card company, they are not as reliable as any other bank, they are just running a scam to make money out of businesses. They will force you to pay what you don't owe, they will randomly apply monthly subscription fee on your free account.

They pulled a horrible bait and switch
They pulled a horrible bait and switch. They promised 0 fees and all of a sudden they started charging 30 dollars per week. Do not do business with them. Also Visa Avion offer also 1.5 points per dollar but the flights on their platform are 40% lower than keep.

had a very poor experience with KEEP.
had a very poor experience with KEEP.
Even though my credit card was never activated and never used, KEEP still charged me a $34 monthly fee for over a year. These charges were taken automatically without clear consent or transparent explanation at the time of signup.
I find it unreasonable to charge customers for a card that was never activated. Customer support was not helpful in resolving this issue.
This experience has seriously damaged my trust in the company, and I would not recommend this service.

An overall amazing experience
Great customer service, fast approvals, and it all costs a fraction of what I'd be paying for a traditional credit card. I definitely recommend this service for anyone who needs business credit.

It was really hard to get someone on the telphone. Didn't give me the warm fuzzies. Then I applied had to give my bank statements ect. Pretty invasive. Then they took 5 days and when I called back they said we were declined but didn't let us know. If you market your service as fast approval they failed!
We applied to venn.ca and got apporved and were making payments in under an hour.
