First they quote you a price for a repeat policy, then they say someyhing like cant get you up on screen have to put you through to sales then sales take you through whole questionaire then they quote higher price.

Claim for delayed luggage

Claim for delayed luggage after LHR fiasco.
Claim July 2024.
On-line Nationwide web page said Personal Belongings was everything we carried except golf equipment.
Claimed for personal items e.g. shaving kit, extra pair trousers etc but also a smart phone charger. This was subjected to many arguments saying wasn't covered.
Some thirty documents were exchanged and finally went to Financial Ombudsman September 2024. January 2025 still waiting for a decision. February 2025, FinOmb agreed with UKinsurance stating 'industry standard practice'
Conclusion: UKinsurance is poorly staffed company and is constantly looking to claw money back. Indeed it seems their main objective. They had a fixation about proving 'exchange rates' which are not given by my bank.
Nationwide have now changed to Aviva, lets hope for improvements.
Financial Ombudsman is slow and likely to take the view of business'.
Cheap insurance is not worth the hassle.
Note that only people who have not made a claim, say anything good about UKi

UK Insurance cancelled my Mortgage…

UK Insurance cancelled my Mortgage Protection policy I've had for 20 years on the grounds they do not sell the product anymore and just a few years after rebranding it from Nat West. I am 65 yrs and will struggle to get another policy. Bad form and bad business.

Avoid Darwin / Direct line


Complaint case ref 192171510 Appalling, disgusting service
Raised a complaint about a claim over a 2 week period multiple calls made to darwin & copart.
copart blaming Darwin, copart blaming darwin being fobbed off on the phone by both parties.
So I Raised a complaint & they only listen to to 1 days calls - disgusting !!!!!
Anglea white from customer relations who after 5 weeks cannot even do a proper full investigation.
My advice is stay well clear of Darwin insurance who are part of the direct line group all staff work from home , which means they don't care about customer service.
Copart & Darwin totally incompetent zero professional approach- loose information & photos sent in emails which they state they have recieved!!!
This company clearly have an agenda to hide the truth & hide behind there t&c.
DO NOT INSURE YOUR VEHICLE WITH DARWIN OR DIRECT LINE THEY SEND EMAILS THAT HAVE LIES IN THEM THEY LIE OVER THE PHONE.

Avoid at all costs

where to start? so slow to act on claims or answer the phones - waiting 45 minutes to speak to someone... they keep asking for information that cannot be provided - e.g. proof of traffic delays in a foreign country - have this as part of Nationwide Account, but it is such poor value...

I will never use UK Insurance again.

I receive travel insurance as part of my monthly account subscription with my bank, Nationwide. The travel insurance is provided by UK Insurance. I recently travelled and phoned UK Insurance to add 2 young adult family members with no medical conditions to the policy for our ten day trip. It was basically a rip off. The amount they charged me would have bought an annual stand alone policy with better benefits with a different company. Thankfully Nationwide are not using UK Insurance from October. I will never use UK Insurance for anything else in future.

Staff are ALL under trained or just…

Staff are ALL under trained or just don't give a damn.
Promises of call backs, emails, ect that never happen.
Agents won't direct you or connect you to the correct line if you've ended up on the wrong one.

I have been dealing with one customer service agent (James) who will tell you whatever you want to hear to placate you and get you off the phone.
Trying to get money rightfully owed back to you is damn near an impossibility. Looks like the only way to get anything done with them is to go to the ombudsman

See Laura Rush's review mine is almost identical. ByMiles are UKinsurance's broker, they do not help in anyway at all, like Laura I have been put through to other companies like Aviva and spent hours trying to get put through to UK insurance. Once through everything with very disjointed I felt like I was being pushed from one to the other.
My car has been in the repair shop for over 2 months now waiting for a simple headlamp and when I ask how long is acceptable to wait I am repeatedly told it takes as long as it takes. I asked if I could have a 2nd hand part in place until a new one was available and was told No as this would PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER??? it's flipping headlamp not the brakes!!
I will not be renewing with ByMiles as I do not want to renew with UK Insurance and I will source an insurance company who do not use a Broker in future and I will definitely look up the reviews first...........

One of worst insurance you will ever come across, absolute useless company and some of the staffs are rude, not friendly. I took travel insurance they said it covers baggage damages and my baggage was damaged during transit, one suitacase one of the wheel is missing and another one is cracked. They replied stating this can be repairs therefore its not covered. Ofcourse any or most damages can be repaird but it will cost fortune which is why people take out the insurance.
Absolute disagrace!!!!!

this company auto renews and does not email or posts and then lives bad credit on your credit profile
i have stopped using this insurance company but they have not cancelled the policy
beware its a scam company using worst commercial techniques.Just found out they are leaving negative credit report

Overrated & False

Direct Line were quick to grab my money but weren’t that helpful when I made a query about something which seemed contradictory to what was said. This was back around 2003 and I’ve seen how they are connected to the RBS group and premiums they have offered are excessive. The premium for my car was over twice the dearest of all others.

I sniff greed here and while some customers give it top rating, that makes no difference to me as they have that money-grabbing mentality as well as looking to give customers false security and making innocent customers victims.

I play the fool sometimes to see how they try to pull the wool over my eyes, but I am not going to let them fleece me.

The overall picture I have is “avoid them”.

Absolute mess from start to finish when making a claim on car insurance. Had an accident for first time having driven for 2 years. Very scary experience. Claiming and contacting my insurer was not easy at all. Took 3 days to reach them. BY MILES are the broker who put me through to 2 more companies before Uk Insurance. It’s taken 2 months for my car to be recovered and written off. They’ve had the settlement figure and sat on the payment and still to this day not paid! Call after call they say they will call back and do not. Completely added to the stress after the accident and made life difficult as I needed the settlement paid before purchasing another car. It’s been 2 months. They do not care at all. No compassion. Just call centre staff who say they’ll call back. No one wants to own mistakes or do anything to help. Do not touch with a barge pole! Avoid!
