I tested with FT DNA for genetic genealogy purposes, and when they offered a medical / dietary DNA test with their partner Vitagene for a reasonable price, I took the opportunity.

As with the genetic genealogy, I learned a number of interesting things, including something I always suspected - I have a "famine" metabolism that processes food (esp. carbs) VERY slowly, making it harder for me to lose weight - and in modern American society, that is getting tougher anyway! However they suggested dietary and exercise changes that would work with my metabolism. They also offered supplements tailored to my system, and while I have not yet tried these, I may give it a whirl sometime.

I learned many other interesting things about how my genetics affect my body and overall health.

The Vitagene team was prompt, efficient, and as far as I can tell, right on the money with their information and advice.

I would recommend Vitagene to anyone who wants to learn more about the way their DNA affects their body and metabolism, and who wants to improve their health in general.

Getting better. When I first tested I had already had multiple tests and knew I had gluten sensitivity aka celiac. Your first test said likely able to process gluten. Same thing with cholesterol and all y’all wanted to do was sale me vitamins.

However, the results seem more accurate now and the company seems to be moving a better direction.
