PLEASE Stay clear of this awful company. Liverpool.

This is a 100% honest review with evidence to support my concerns.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.Athough they confirmed on e mail back in march that the flat would be ready and mould free on my sons move in day last week(liverpool) the place was a disgusting unsafe tip ! Front door wouldn't close shut let alone lock! Had to be left open. Huge window frame in living room not even attached to the wall! So dangerous.Big main window opening with no stay so could fully open the window on to the street 4 flights up ! FLAT IS UNSAFE .Rubbish left from old tennants- disgusting! Mould and water ingress everywhere.Oven unusable- again disgusting! I can't even describe the condition of the bed..I wouldn't be happy to let a dog sleep on it. Flat was just a dirty unsafe tip. Had to drive back home with all his possesions. Company ignored numerous emails for a whole week. Worse than all this is 11 days later still no resolution.Customer service 0/10. Have sent them detailed photos and videos to consoliate honest and fair concerns.They really don't care about their tenants.He has no accommodation so is unable to access his university course. THEY DO NOT CARE. My advice STAY WELL CLEAR FROM THIS AWFUL COMPANY.

Very difficult and confusing

I was initially offered the standard en-suite that I applied for, however after paying the full yearly rent my offer was removed and replaced with a new room which was £600 more expensive, I had no choice but to accept this new offer due to the short notice as there was a deadline to accept and I was told I would lose the room otherwise. This was incredibly bad practice as I had no choice but to pay more money for a room I didn’t want, even after accepting and paying for my room of choice. The communication from the company was also unclear and amateurish, which caused a lot of unnecessary stress and confusion.

Draws you in with tenancys that don't exist.
The website doesn't work. They offer instant bookings and harvest all of yours and your emergency contacts details then the website crashes and the tenancies don't exist and you are offered worse alternatives. If you contact customer service they are unable to help. Homes for students and the properties themselves often say opposed things and they don't match what is on the tenancy agreement. The agreement with the new conditions is impossible to sign even if you manage to get to the stage of having an offer after failing on attempts to book.

Lying about what rooms are available…

Lying about what rooms are available when you call or email compared to what websites actually says don’t bother contacting them.
Although guy on the phone was helpful after he eventually said what cheaper options were really available after questioning

Bumby Booking with Excellent Support – Shoutout to Ray!

Website has some glitches when booking a room (the site would say not responding) but otherwise very straightforward process. I like that it shows the number of rooms available when booking and that you can sign tenancy agreement immediately you start booking unlike site that are agents which require waiting to see if rooms are available and give agreement a day or two later. The staff is very kind,  understanding and helpful. Honorable mention for Ray who helped me out with confusion I had guarantor details. I really recommend using the site.

If your a contractor beware not good payers and that’s if you get laid at all , uncontactable don’t respond to e mails and not able to contact on phone , don’t take the risk

If I could give 0 starts I would. Their customer service is extremely poor. They send various emails from different accounts but never reply. Trying to call is just as bad — long queues and being transferred again and again without any resolution.

Reaching out to them is practically useless. They send multiple confusing emails and don’t respond when you write back. Phone calls are a waste of time — long hold times and constant redirections with no real help in the end.

Horrible experience at Hamwic Halls for…

Horrible experience at Hamwic Halls for students in Southampton. A compromised building is being let-out to international students. The entire management is aware of 100 things not working but still let students in. The issues do get resolved but its harassing that you keep reporting one issue after the another, practically getting the entire room changed. When I came in my flush wasnt working, it got repaired in 10 days. after a week hot water stopped, it got repaired in 4 days. Then my radiator wasnt working, it was checked and made to function on the same day. The lift was broken for almost 5 months, the fire alarms were extremely sensitive and would go out at 3am before getting fixed. There was no help if you are locked out of your room other than calling veritech services which would cost you 45gbp to let you in your room - mind it that there were wardens who could have helped but they were never given official numbers, so basically you couldnt contact them. MOSTLY THE MANAGEMENT WAS AWARE OF EVEYTHING AND IS DOING THEIR BEST TO COVER UP THE ENTIRE SITUATION. THEY WOULD NOT LET YOU COMPLAINT PASS THE HIERARCHY.

Extremely expensive

Paying £6.4 for laundry every time you wash clothes is ridiculous! Also they made me pay my rent 3 months in advance although I was ready to provide a guarantor.

Carpet Beetles and Moths and Pests Gallery…

Absolutely awful experience at Gallery Apartments in Glasgow. The entire building is riddled with a severe moth and carpet beetle infestation, stemming from old, filthy carpets and mouldy furniture that hasn't been replaced in years. Management is fully aware of the issue but still tries to blame individual tenants instead of addressing the root cause. I ended up needing multiple rounds of antibiotics after suffering an allergic reaction to the pests. The lack of responsibility and care for tenant wellbeing is shocking. Avoid at all costs — this place is a health hazard, not a home.

Avoid Homes for Students

Avoid any accommodation managed by Homes for Students. Our child was forced out before the start of the academic year, under circumstances out of their control. Homes for Students admitted they could not keep them safe on site, so we had to find alternative accommodation. Homes for Students failed in their obligation to readvertise, particularly poor at that time when there would have been a considerable number of students still looking for accommodation before the start of the academic year, maintaining the site was full. They refused to discuss any compromise for the fees no longer required, despite our child being in the accommodation for less than a week before the start of term. The Chief Executive and Operations Manager did not bother to acknowledge our letters and emails, and the site just continued to repeat, “if you don't pay then debt collectors will be sent”.
Less than a week on site, forced to leave due to circumstances beyond their control at a cost of more than £9,500. The trade body for student accommodation don't offer any help, and a key rep happens to be the Operations Manager for Homes for Students. They are in an unregulated business with no integrity or accountability. Be warned, once you commit to paying the full year, regardless of circumstances, you will have to pay. Do yourself, and your child, a favour, look elsewhere and avoid Homes for Students at all cost.

Expelled from a Redress Scheme! That says it all

If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Homes for Students has been incredibly stressful and disappointing, by far the worst of my student life. I lived at Foundry Studios, which they manage, and I’ve never felt more unsupported.

There were constant issues: frequent hot water outages that lasted for days, poor internet that made it difficult to study or contact my family, and ongoing hygiene and maintenance problems. Safety was also a major concern. There were repeated incidents involving unapproved individuals entering or even living in the building and harrassing and stealing students. The door code hadn’t been changed in years, and at times, we had no trained staff or reception support at all. There was a period when I had to call the police weekly, in a place that was supposed to be my home.

Despite countless emails, I was repeatedly ignored, dismissed, or given false promises. I followed their complaints procedures, contacted several employees, and even reached out to their CEO, only to be completely ignored.

I tried to get released from my tenancy agreement, but all of my struggles, along with those of many other students living in the same conditions, were completely dismissed based on a 5-minute internet check. Not only did this ignore the real issue, but it also disregarded all the other serious concerns I had raised, despite the countless evidence I provided for all of them.

I eventually made a formal complaint to the Property Redress Scheme, where Homes for Students were EXPELLED for non-compliance. For context, all accommodation providers are legally required to be a member of a redress scheme. For a company as big as Homes for Students to be expelled from one, over something as basic as failing to provide safe, livable conditions for its students, the very core of their responsibility, is not only embarrassing, but says everything you need to know about how little they care…

At the end of the day, we’re just students trying to belong somewhere, trying to find comfort in a place away from home. To have that taken away by the very people meant to support us is deeply disheartening.

No student should ever have to go through this. Homes for Students needs to do better.

Grim

Countless emails and legal advice had to be provided to get out of this tenancy. I was told I would have a quiet room. There were constructions across my room every morning from 6 Am. The diesel generator, the fumes. The dust, leading to pure direct nuisance and the inability to open windows. The above is horrible for a student wishing to study in peace. I was not allowed to leave the contract until the residency could find a replacement. I was charged full price for the entirety of the stay when my shower was cold, flat was shared with 6 people when I was told maximum 4. Still, to the very end, unclear how much money the company kept and how much it has paid back. I ended up with lots of medical bills due to the lack of chronic sleep which built up over the period. Would never recommend this experience to anyone, especially not for 1500 a month.

I am writing to request a refund of 50 pounds for the accommodation I booked with your establishment. Unfortunately, I have been left with no choice but to cancel my booking due to serious trust concerns I have developed with one of your employees and the company as a whole.

Regrettably, I have experienced [briefly describe the incident(s) that led to the trust issue, e.g., "unprofessional communication," "misleading information," etc.]. This has compromised my confidence in your company's ability to provide a safe and secure environment for my stay.

As a result, I am requesting a full refund of the 50 pounds I paid for the accommodation. I believe this is a reasonable request, given the circumstances.
