Rip off merchants.

Scammed my mother out of £260 quid and then tried to charge her an astonishing £800 to replace a part that didn’t need replacing.

Apparently offer a ‘mobile service’, arranged to come and collect the car twice and on both occasions they failed to show without explanation or contact.

Just told them not to bother fixing the car and said I’d take it somewhere else. The new garage I took it to were baffled at Whites trying to charge me £800 for a new part and charging me £260 for a ‘recognition’.

Don’t go here basically, you cant trust these people, they’re looking to make a quick buck out of vulnerable people. The manager/owner is the one that dealt with the situation and is quite frankly vile. Making excuses and providing the worst customer service ever.

Dreadful, dishonest rip-off merchants and terrible customer service.
My disabled, vulnerable mother-in-law had trouble with her car and she thought it wasn’t road-worthy so didn’t want it driven to a garage in the state it was in, but saw online that Whites offer a ‘mobile’ service which she thought meant they would come to her to try to fix the car. However this mobile service was actually a person coming to her house to drive the car to the garage anyway. Possibly a misunderstanding on her part, so fair enough, expect everything that follows after is unforgivable.
Firstly they took two days to actually collect the car, mucking her around with when they were coming out. Then when they had the car they took out a personal item from the car. They then returned the car, without this personal item in it, which they essentially held hostage for over a week. When they returned the car, they explained they couldn’t fix the car as they didn’t know what was wrong with it, nevertheless they charged her £266 for the pleasure of not fixing her car and stealing her stuff. Then they had the audacity to suggest she pay them £800 to replace a part that ‘might’ fix the problem that they couldn’t identify. Baffling.
She then took the car to another local garage and it took them about 5 minutes to identify the problem and they charged her £230 (so LESS than Whites charged to not fix the car) to fix the car. They laughed when she asked whether she needed the mystery £800 part Whites had suggested.
To add insult to injury they then made it incredibly difficult for her to retrieve the item that they’d held hostage although her partner was eventually able to collect it.
When my mother-in-law spoke to the owner, he was exceptionally rude to her and obviously has no customer service skills. I’m disgusted that she was treated in this way, and would urge everyone to avoid this so-called-garage like the plague.

Don't use this garage. Had a problem a few years ago where i paid for tyres and front tension rods for my MOT. Car was returned without steering control and i was without a car for the weekend. Unfortunately i recently used an online mechanic for my latest MOT and Whites failed my MOT with dangerous faults. An independent garage passed my car 2 days later with 2 advisories. There is a problem in this industry if we are trusting these garages and they aren't consistent, safe or honest.
