It was perfect.

Great set up, I enjoyed my Sauna and Glow Swim at Burton Farm. There was good hygiene practices in place which was good as new people every half hour. Cute little hats to keep the heat in if you wanted it and the smell of wood fire made it more enjoyable than a standard sauna for me

I just had the best sauna experience of my life at Laura's Wild Sauna Club, Hermitage Works, Desborough. Laura has created something really special, that combines nature, heat, rhythm, and tradition in a way that feels both primal and healing. Using birch whisks and aroma/steam therapy in a traditional woodfired sauna, with cold plunge pools in between, resulted in an unforgettable sensory experience. I am a seasoned sauna fan, but this was something completely new and out of the ordinary.

The 2 hour session began with a gentle warm up, as you enter the sauna, the wonderful scent coming from burning logs and the warm cedarwood panelling, greets you, the natural heat embraces you. Then a new level of heat is created - water ladled onto the sauna rocks with added essential oils, whilst Laura uses a towel to waft the steam around in the traditional 'Aufguss' way. Your skin tingles as the steam hits it and your nose delights in the new scents from the essential oils (Laura used around 8 different scents/combinations throughout the 4 rounds of heat therapy.)

Then a brief cool down outside in the fresh air, before beginning the next rounds. This was where the magic began, a new experience for me - birch whisking. A new scent sensation - damp birch leaves, earthy and sharp in the most invigorating way. Laura first shakes the birch whisks, creating gentle drops of warm water hitting your skin, making you feel like you're in a warm Scandinavian rainshower. Then the ritual of rhythmically sweeping the bundles of soaked birch branches over the legs, arms and back began. The sensation is hard to describe, it's like being tapped or brushed by warm, leafy air with a hint of pressure. The warmth of the branches and the moisture from the leaves amplifies the heat from the sauna. Laura also uses the birch water to gently pour over the back of the neck. The final round includes fresh cucumber water to drink, fresh fruit to eat and cucumber slices for your face.

Me and the other participants all agreed that this was a profound, magical experience, feeling the healing power of nature and that we would all definitely do it again. Thank you.

We have swam at Burton Farm many many times and either warm water or bloody chilly, it’s just fabulous to have the sauna afterwards, the girls went back into the lake dipping but i just used the watering cans, so so lovely. If you’ve not tried it, have a go but book early. Forecast was rain and we had a bit - such a treat. Thanks

Another fabulous sauna at Burton Farm today. I decided to make a back to back booking this time, so had a full hour and it was SO worth it!
As always Laura was the perfect host and the strangers at the beginning of my sauna all soon felt like friends.
Can’t wait for my next booking!

I had the sauna and cold plunge whilst camping at Brook Meadow with friends. It was amazing and even though I was quite anxious about the cold plunge (I don’t like being in cold water), I’m so glad I did it.
It was revitalising and so much so, we booked a second session the following day.
Laura made the whole experience even more special and we thoroughly enjoyed the extra pampering with birch leaves!

My friend and I have been twice now, she loves both the sauna and the cold plunge. The cold plunge didnt suit me, but that didnt stop me from using the sauna.
The sauna itself was spotless and heated perfectly, and we loved the views of the lake. The staff are welcoming. It was a truly relaxing and memorable experience, and we highly recommend it!"

I love saunas but have never done the cold plunge pool.

Loved the fact that wood saunas have a real heat (I've been in infrared ones).

I experienced my first wild sauna at burton farm fisheries which felt amazing after doing an hours open water swim. I have booked again in September 😊

We had a fantastic experience at the Wild Sauna with a small group of friends. What a way to unwind on a Sunday. We enjoyed the sauna for an hour and then had a dip in the lake. The sauna itself is immaculately clean and has a big glass window with a beautiful view of the lake. Laura is so friendly; there to offer advice if needed and regularly topped up the cold water outside so you can cool off between sittings. Would happily visit here again.

What an absolutely wonderful afternoon. It was just what was needed and Laura was really helpful and full of knowledge about saunas. Next time I shall be booking in for a swim along side the sauna. Perfect location to do both.

Used this whilst staying at Brook Meadow. It was so amazingly clean and was very insightful to how to structure my session to get the most out of it, my son and nephew were also treated to see how hot the sauna was which they both absolutely loved! Felt so much better and relaxed after the session!

5 Stars – A Magical Camping Getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful campsite! Nestled under huge, majestic oak trees, surrounded by open fields and a peaceful river, the setting was truly idyllic. It felt like a slice of countryside paradise.

The kids had an amazing time—there was so much space to run around, explore, and just be kids. The river was a real highlight for them, and the addition of the sauna was such a relaxing bonus for the adults after a day outdoors.

The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can tell they put a lot of love into the place and genuinely care about their guests’ experience. From the warm hospitality to the pristine grounds, everything was just perfect.

Highly recommended for families or anyone looking to unwind in nature. It as our second time and we’ll definitely be back!

Took myself to Brook Meadow one very hot and sunny afternoon for a bit of 'me' time. It was absolutely wonderful. Lovely and peaceful and I left feeling much cooler (Laura said it worked on a hot day) and full of endorphins. I'd never been a fan of the idea of a cold bath, but after the sauna and in that setting it was great. Laura was on hand for anything I needed and was the perfect hostess. Can't wait to return!

My friend and I went to this for the first time and we thoroughly recommend going. It was such a beautiful setting. The day we went it was 32 degrees outside, but between the sauna and the cold plunge, it was a fantastic way to feel cool on a hot day. We will definitely be going back again!
