I have had this app for a few years and is my go-to choice to resolve all the duplications that camera uploaders etc. cause.

The guys are mega responsive and the app works flawlessly.

As far as I can tell the programme did what it was supposed to. My problem is that I bought a month long licence and have just found I've been charged for another month. I can't categorically say that I didn't miss the small print saying I'd set up a subscription but if I did then it is definitely sneaky to say the least. I've since tried to replicate buying it without handing over money to work out where I went wrong but have not been able to. My emails have been met with silence. Once you know this happens you can cancel the subscription but I had no idea I'd signed up for one and the £30 I lost as a result I will not be getting back.

Duplicate File Finder loses its registration after 1 or 2 uses. I have to email the company and sometimes they respond with a new registration key, sometimes they don't, but never timely. They obviously know it's an issue but do not fix it.

Even worse - You can run an hours-long de-dupe and only find out it is unregistered when it will not clean the files.

Ashisoft promotes "Duplicate File Finder" on their website with the text: "Purchase and use it forever. Major upgrades and features come at an additional upgrade cost".

Ashisoft tells you that you are able to download updates in a period of a year, but don't tell the software stops working after a year.... a very dirty sales lie.

After a year the program stops working and you are requested to pay again for the the program. At that moment Ashisoft claims unjustified that you purchased a yearly subscription..., a conscious lie.

if you protest, they offer you a free year, pretending to be of good will. But if you accept that, you wrongly confirm that you have taken a subscription.

An illegal way of scamming that has to be handled legally.

Scammers. They will make your license expire and request you buy a newer version of the software.

I have been trying to contact for almost 4 days to reset my license key with absolutely no response. Very unhappy with support!

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.
The software worked ok until it locked me out. I'm not sure why other than I cleaned out some windows files to gain back some space and for whatever reason it messed with something on this program that confirmed I was a registered user as when I went to use it again it took me to the trial version. I tried to use my activation code to register the program and It said "my activation limit had been reached and I should contact customer support". So I thought "No problem", I emailed them and I've heard nothing since, not even a standard email acknowledgement saying they received it and will be getting back to me. August 29, 2022, and it's now been 4 days and counting. I will remove this post once they have contacted me.

Do not purchase anything from this company. The license will automatically expire within one month. They have zero customer support and will not honor any purchases even though you made a lifetime purchase.

Ashisoft programs automatically become unregistered on a monthly basis. Then it takes about a week of back and forth with "customer service" to get it registered again. What this means it that you will not be able to use it whenever you want. I recommend not sending them any money unless you live in India, because they are outside the reach of law enforcement.

THE WORLDS WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE BEEN EMAILING THEM FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS and they give the same questions what is wrong with it so we can help you tell us in detail and when I tell them every time the same thing. I feel like I am emailing a 5 year old kid

Ashisoft asks you to "try" their "free" dupe finder. Only thing is, you can't. They shouldn't call it a free edition. They should call it a DO-NOTHING edition. Yes, it will identify certain dupe files -- but it PROHIBITS YOU FROM TAKING ANY ACTUAL ACTION AT ALL! It's like those phone# look-up sites that claim to find "results," but you have to pay 'em before you can see whether those "results" are legitimate (and not just meaningless chaff).

After you pay for the Pro versions of both Duplicate File Finder and Duplicate Photo Finder, they both constantly revert to the free versions and stop working. I have never had them work longer than 3 months, and they both freeze up on the same day. Customer service used to help, but now they are ignoring my pleas for help.
UPDATE 7/30/24: Ashisoft finally fixed the problem, and both programs have worked perfectly for the past two years.

so unless you live in India, you won't get support. they are only in India and I tried to get support as i am in USA. Then then don't respond back if you mention asking for a refund for an unusable product

Exceptionally poor customer service. Lifetime licence appears to be for one year only then you have to repurchase at full cost. Statements of upgrades at reduced cost are completely untrue there is no such thing from them. Emails are met with either silence or statements that ignore the problems and are unhelpful.
I concur with all the above comments.
The software does work well initially although very slow.

The program has constant activation problems. I am asking support for a new license file for the 4th time. The program stops working after some time, even though it is installed on the same computer. If you have a backup of your own computer and then recover from the backup - there will be 100% problems.

When you try to activate online - it throws software errors and a message that there is no Internet connection. If you care about your own time and ease of use. Then definitely do not buy and install this program. Due to the fact that errors also pop up when the program is running and the program hangs. I don't know if it does harm to windows 10. There are many other interesting programs that work and it's a waste of time for duplicate file finder and Ashisoft programs.

The manufacturer provided a lifetime license upon purchase. However, this license is constantly changing. Currently, the new version of the same program is paid extra and there are no discounts for the lifetime license - you just need to purchase a new program. It's really a waste of time for Ashisoft

Deceptive update policy. I have begrudgingly had to buy the software four times. On occasion an popup or email occurs asking if you want to download and install the latest version. What they don't tell you is once you do, you now have a demo version and your paid license is gone. There is no going back. If you want to restore the functionality you had before the update you are forced to buy a new license.

The software works, but you can get similar results from the free version of CCleaner, and I would advise anyone that is looking to remove duplicates to consider any other alternative. Ashisoft's customer support is nearly non-existent. I disabled the sound card on my motherboard and it required re-activation. The software creates a hash based on your hardware for copy protection but it goes overboard. ANY hardware change will cause the software to disable and you'll have to re-activate it. They will only activate your software a couple times before they charge you for a new copy. This is TERRIBLE. This is NOT a good solution. DO NOT BUY.

I always hate reviews from people who write in all caps. Always seems like they're going overboard to make a point. But really, this is unacceptable in this day and age. Constant reactivations, disabling your software, paying more than once to use what you paid for. I'm so angry I paid these people anything, really.

tl;dr - CCleaner is free and has a utility that does the same darn thing.

Wish I read reviews first. Downloaded the free version of Duplicate Photo Finder which did a good job trawling through a huge number of photos - had to leave the PC running overnight. For that I would give it 4 stars.
Once it has completed, then you can do nothing with the files (delete, move etc requires you to buy the pro version). Before I decided to part with my cash I had a look at reviews for the product and came across this. Not going to risk it. For that I'm giving them 2 stars as I haven't lost any money.

It would have been nice to have known the limitations of the free version to save on my CPU and personal time.

We purchased this software on December 22, 2018. We were provided with a Reference Id to activate the software. On February 17, 2019, we reported that the product did not work. Once again, it required activation, when it had been previously activated. Ashisoft responded with another Reference Id. Once again, on January 10, 2020, we tried to use the software and again, it required activation, and neither of the previous Reference Id(s) would activate the software. We now have read similar comments from other users, indicating that Reference Id(s) expire, and users have to request a new Reference ID after expiration. Ashisoft support for resolving this issue is not too responsive. If you want a software that requires a single activation, this in not it!
