No-showed on appointment made weeks before, stayed home from work for it. When called 20 minutes after appointment time told me they cancelled the appointment as they didnt want to deal with council requirements. Was never informed, person on the phone was very nasty about it and didnt care... "just the messenger", very poor. Stay away.
deck and blinds
We had a deck and blinds installed and were told on multiple occasions that the blinds would sit flush with the deck. Unfortunately, the final result has been very disappointing.
The deck was left with 16 missing screws, uneven and out-of-square finishes, and the blind railing does not sit flush with the deck as promised. It has also become clear throughout the project that there was very poor communication between the different trades involved.
Overall, the experience has given the impression that the company acts mainly as a middleman, applying significant mark-ups on materials while subcontracting the actual work to tradespeople who you pay. with very little coordination or quality control between them. Whilst the deck issues eventuality got fixed the blinds did not... its a pity we cant post photos on here

I guess administration is not great. Started in Jan 2025. Now waiting on the last bit which is issuing my warranty as promised.
One good thing is that being a big company they dont run away and shut down but nevertheless it shouldnt be an unpleasant experience. Stay tuned to hear from me when I receive my warranty.

Watch this space. AOL responded promptly to our request for quote. Young lady came the same day, quoted, paid deposit. Told someone would be out for final measure. That's when it all turned to !@$$. Rory rang to say he couldn't come to do final measurements as he'd been called into the office.
We explained hubby wanted to be here when he measured. He is FIFO with specific days available. Rory's attitude 'too bad, too sad'.
Apparently Rory came when none was home did measurements (no vision of visit on cctv). We were given install date, ordered skip bin and were set to go.
Suprise, surprise, Rory rings morning of instal to say installer I'll will have to be after Easter!! We were not happy but again his attitude was 'too bad, too sad'.
Reception staff and young lady quote 10 star service. So called manager Tory lets whole team down.

What can I say - maybe …don’t.
The lack of customer service, timely communication and borderline rudeness of staff is unparalleled. Responsibility is shifted to the customer for error.
Measurements were wrong for the deck imprint. We were told as we had ‘approved’ blueprints, the error was ours. The wrong plans were given to trades. New measurements were worked towards in real time and adjustments made (by us). And then communicated back to our ‘contact’ at Australian Outdoor Living. These adjustments were not communicated to trades leaving us once again to communicate changes and manipulations to ensure the correct installation. The wrong lawn was delivered. Weeds grew through our outdoor lawn within 2 weeks, phone calls to check warranty specifics informed us that this was not covered and instead we were told that the onus was on us to ensure a weed treatment was requested in the preparation process. We were taken aback to say the least, believing that weed treating should have been standard practise.
Tradies were redirected midway through projects to other jobs, pushing out timeframes and completion dates. Multiple phone calls chasing payments for materials not yet delivered and jobs not yet completed was consistent throughout the 3 month period of our backyard lawn/patio/deck installation.
The quality of materials (labelled Ausdeck) on delivery was good. The construction work of sub contracted tradesmen- also good. Australian Outdoor Living provide the illusion through sales people that multiple elements of the job will blend seamlessly and easily, project managed by a central contact to oversee it all. In reality multiple different people are responsible for small elements of each task, not communicating with each other to gauge a thorough overall picture and instead the back and forth is continual and draining to the point of exhaustion.
Australian Outdoor Living over-promises and under-delivers.
We have a backyard that looks good, however the joy of the project was lost as a direct result of error, miscommunication and lack of customer service.

Poor quality & not warranty support
Paid premium price for their top of the range buffalo artificial lawn. Within a year the levelling has gone all wonky, they must have not compressed the underlay or not put enough. Weeds also come out alot, I have to spend 1 hour each month to do the weeding, its that bad. I called the company several times, they keep taking a message. No such thing as warranty or after sales support, they just take your money and disappear despite having to keep calling. Would not recommend!

Very outdated sales tactics
Was looking to engage Australian Outdoor Living to build a pergola. On the phone when booking in a time for someone to measure and quote they asked "if I had a husband or partner" and then followed up with "as you will both need to be at the appointment". My asusmption is this is a sales tactic to have both people there at the appointment and apply pressure. I found the question and this tactic strange, terribly outdated and off putting - why would this even be a relevant question when looking to build a pergola in 2025?! Have since cancelled the appointment obviously!

Good Patio, Poor Follow-Through and Customer Support
We had a patio installed by Australian Outdoor Living at our Ardross property in August 2024. While the workmanship of the structure itself is generally good, serious issues have since developed.
Following heavy rains, several leaks appeared where the patio joins the house roof and at the base of the gable section. I contacted the company immediately, providing clear photographs and details. Since then, I’ve sent multiple emails and made several phone calls — yet weeks later, I have had little to no meaningful follow-up.
The real disappointment here isn’t the workmanship — which could be rectified — but the lack of customer care after installation. Once the job was done and payment taken, the support seems to have evaporated.
A premium company should stand by its work, especially when problems emerge so soon after installation. Unfortunately, Australian Outdoor Living’s lack of responsiveness has left me frustrated and questioning their commitment to customer service.
👉 If you’re considering them, be aware: the build may be fine, but getting support when issues arise is another story.

Poor service post quote (typical…once you have signed the contract and you are committed…customer service goes out the door).
They failed to get official measurement done other co tract signed ….i had to ring to arrange it as heard nothing after signing g contract. They then missed that appointment and I had to ring again to organise.
As a result Blinds were installed outside promised time period.
Installers damaged property when installing the blind.. They chipped a newly painted (2 weeks prior) external rendered wall that had no damage prior to installation of the blind) and then because I didn’t witness the installer doing it and had no cameras to prove it was them, they denied responsibility.
Product was also expensive for what it is. Over $3k for one blind which is not on tracking but attached in cheap hooks. You need to be aware of this and compare it to other products.
Would not recommend this company for any product and joining the others leaving negative reviews to ensure others don’t make same mistake and purchase products from this company. Have left similar reviews on other ratings pages and will continue to warn others about this company and it’s poor ethics.

A Word of Caution for Anyone Considering Artificial Grass or Outdoor Blinds
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I felt it was important to share my recent experience as a warning to others. Today, I was hoping to receive a fair and honest quote for artificial grass and an outdoor blind. Unfortunately, I was met with outdated, high-pressure sales tactics instead.
The initial quote I received was $10,500—more than double what I had been quoted elsewhere. After I mentioned this, the price was quickly dropped to $8,500 following a supposed call to "the manager." When I declined again, I was asked how much I was willing to pay. I gave a ballpark figure of $7,500, which was immediately accepted—but only if I agreed to the deal on the spot, because "they can’t hold the stock."
Eventually, I was given a couple of hours to decide—how generous! I called them back to say that all I was looking for was a fair and transparent quote, not inflated prices followed by pressure to commit immediately.
In the end, the whole experience felt dishonest and manipulative. I could have ended up overpaying by more than $3,000.
The lesson? Always get multiple quotes and take the time to compare. A trustworthy company will respect that and deal with you fairly—no pressure, no games.

Australian outdoor living is the worst company you could put your money and trust in.
If I could put a minus 5 review i would. They are deceiving and corrupted. They will take your money without delivering. They will try to push their own agenda without your consent just because they think they are all mighty. Hanging up the phone on you, when you actually call them out on ther unprofessional dodginess, threatening you and belittling you.
Please stay away from this company if you want your health and sanity. They are not to be trusted and with so many 1star reviews i am surprised they are still in business, I quess they are a couple of folks like myself that were tricked into this situation. I am writing this review so you are not the next unfortunate victim.

Australian Living Door is nothing but a frustrating, time-wasting nightmare. Once they take your deposit, good luck getting clear communication or any accountability.
Our experience with them has been beyond disappointing. The lack of communication and complete absence of transparency after taking our $1000 deposit is shocking and unacceptable.
Back in September-October 2024, they ran an ad campaign promising artificial turf installation before Christmas. (I have proof of these ads) While we were skeptical, we decided to proceed after a so-called "designer/salesperson" came to take measurements and provide a quote. Attention!! Don’t let these people trick you by their well-rehearsed theatre play.
We specifically asked for confirmation of an installation date before signing the contract. The salesperson (Angus Heawood) pulled the typical "let me consult my manager" trick and assured us it would happen. Little did we know, this was just a scheme to lock us in and take our deposit.
The night we signed the contract, then he was strangely eager, calling us after hours at 8 PM to secure our details. But the moment we asked for a receipt, all communication ceased. I had to chased him up a few times
In November, his manager Rob called for a "final measurement," and again, we asked if they would fulfill their promise. He dodged the question and didn’t provide a booking date. He came over and did this measure and fully ghosted us again after that. Christmas came and went, and all we got was an email from Dylan Aslan, basically saying, “We’re really busy, sorry. We’ll contact you in January.” I emailed back expressing our discontent and requested we were provided with a date or refund our deposit. NO REPLY!
Fast forward to January 2025, no call. No follow. I had to call up their office a few times, they will always deflect by saying the person you’re looking for isn’t available (a well-rehearsed show) and will have you hang up with no answers.
I received a call from Rob (Angus’s Manager) a few days later expecting a resolution and his answer was “I’m sorry it was my mistake I forgot to pass this onto the people in charge’. I asked for a date. I was told he would do his chase this up to get it sorted.
It’s February, and guess what? No follow-up, no reply to my emails, and absolutely no progress. This company clearly preys on customers, takes their deposits, and moves on to the next victim without delivering on their promises.
Not only did we choose the more expensive option, but we’ve been left with nothing but wasted time, frustration, and regret. I shudder to think what the after-service experience would be if something needed fixing.
Save yourself the stress and disappointment, avoid this company at all costs.

BUYERS BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY
I actually had a scheduled appt with this company's rep today the 18 April 2024 and I was appalled at this man's behaviour. Firstly he told me that the job would be over $4,600 (don't actually know the right amount as he failed to leave a written quote). He kept imploring that I should sign on the day (it was hilarious). I then asked about the 30% advertised online and he told me that this had conditions (what conditions?). I couldn't believe the information this man was telling me. He also informed me that no other company could do it for less as he then quoted $4,000 with again conditions. He did say that he did have to make a phone call to head office to confirm this. I then proceeded to inform him that I wasn't interested and he was a little disappointed but it is my decision. I then made a phone call to another installer and they quoted me $2,500 on the phone after I had given them the measurements. I cannot believe that there is people like this in the industry. I do not like to be told that I have to make a decision on the day and I do not like unprofessional people. This is just a short explanation of the scheduled appt.

We are absolutely disgusted with our recent lawn install and subsequent customer service. I would have given them zero stars if this was an option.
Our install was undertaken on 5 September 2023. The installers were originally supposed to arrive at 8am, but text us to advise they were running late and wouldn't be on site till approximately 10.30am. They arrived well after lunch time. It was downhill from there. They were so rushed to get the job done by close of business that day that they just laid our lawn over their incomplete base thus resulting in a severely uneven install. I was then pressured by the installer to pay then and there for the full job without having the opportunity to fully inspect the area. The light was also fading and it was until the coming days that my husband was able to inspect the area and realized the extent of the poor job (he was away working).
Following a phone call to Australian Outdoor Living, we were instructed to send an email with photos to a Katherine Latu (Lawns Production Manager), which we did on 4 October 2023. THERE WAS NO REPLY. Not even an acknowledgement email! My Husband had to call her again to confirm she received the email and it was agreed they would book us in and rectify the install. Again, we waited and waited for contact to confirm the date to rectify the issues. And again my husband had to call them to follow up a date.
We were finally given a date of 13 November 2023. I waited around all morning for them to arrive. THEY DIDN'T ARRIVE....And yet again, my husband had to call them and was advised by Katherine that the installer was sick and this would need to be rescheduled.
Please shop elsewhere and avoid these dramas. It's now been 6 weeks and we are still waiting for the issue to be rectified.
Update:
We've been offered an updated date of 22 November. I've let Katherine Latu know that this is unsuitable as its now been over two months since our original install, and we have an event at home in a few weeks and her response is belligerent and appalling. I've requested the job be completed by C.O.B on 17 November 2023 or issue a refund for the excessive delay to allow us to correct the job ourselves which was declined. She is very very rude.
Again... AVOID THIS COMPANY GUYS!!!!! Once they have your money, their customer service is disgusting!!!
Oh and we've since been advised that the don't have the staff to cover all the work they have at the moment. So again...RUN form this company. They can't even fulfil your job.
I've been instructed by Fair Trading to lodge a complaint directly with them.

First to get us to sign on the day we were told it would be installed by the 2023 school holidays.
Apparently when we did this it was a miss communication apparently which is a lie we know what we were told.
Now since signing in August we have had to contact them to find out what is going on with it.
When doing do so they then say they have been trying to contact us another lie.
This branch in qld is very unprofessional and would not even look at ..office of fare trading needs to contacted..at thus time trying to get a full refund.
