A Belated Warning
A belated warning to those thinking of having a towbar fitted by Automotive Control, Bristol. They fitted a removable tow bar to my vehicle some months back. Unfortunately, they failed to inform me at any time (either during my initial inquiry or during the tow bar fitting process) that there would be a requirement to cut and remove a piece of the vehicle’s body work. Had I been informed of this requirement, I would most certainly not have gone through with the fitting of the tow bar, as I only wanted to mount a cycle carrier. I expressed my shock and surprise at the time of collecting my vehicle, but was informed that the work had been necessary.
The hole that’s been cut is twice the size that it needs to be, is excessively off centre, ragged in appearance, and aesthetically has made a mess of my vehicle’s body lines. I have also been informed by my vehicle manufacturer that the removal of part of the vehicle body work was unnecessary as there is a tow bar available on the market which can be fitted without the requirement to deface any of the body work. Automotive Control also failed to re-fit the body panel correctly, i.e. several press studs missing.
