I cannot express how pleased we are with our recent purchase from James and his team. Right from the design phase, they were incredibly helpful in guiding us through the process. Update: the Barrel Sauna response to this review is almost complete fiction and while not a single attempt has been made to rectify the wrongs - we have been hounded to remove this truthful review.

Original: Very stressful experience. We spent our 14K life savings on acquiring a mobile sauna (turned out to be a sauna strapped to a cheap trailer). Paid an initial 5k deposit and then on delivery day and our asset comes flying around the corner towed by a van. With no explanation we were instructed to pay the remaining 9k balance into the personal bank account of a strange man we had never dealt with, heard of, or been introduced to. In fact we had just been told he was the ‘driver’ and any questions I had asked him about the unit were met with “I will take it back with me if you have a problem”. When I politely asked why I was having to transfer to a personal account I was met with a little hostility and the answer that he was “just trying to do us a favour” and if I wanted it any other way I would need to “pay an extra 20% on top”. We couldn’t tow the trailer right away as planned, as it was fitted with a 7 pin not 12 pin plug as we had been advised to fit & it was Sunday so had to find somewhere local to store overnight. Next day took it to our local tow bar & trailer guy (20+ years experience) who was appalled at the improper electrics, cheap components and said he really hoped we hadn’t paid more than £7/800 for it (eek). He also pointed out a couple of elements which rendered it illegal for UK roads showed us why the trailer was both illegal and an obvious import. He advised us to get it weighed at a local weigh bridge and it turned out also to be an illegal weight for an unbraked trailer. We were understandably unsettled by the whole experience and spoke immediately to our solicitors who advised us what to say in an email to Barrel Sauna UK. (One of our solicitors actually advised us to drop it back on their doorstep and sue them). There was no response after 5 days and eventually rang the owner who was completely disinterested in any of our concerns and just proceeded to defend / deny any of the points made in the email. We are currently waiting for a quote for another trailer to be made locally at our own expense that meets legal & safety requirements.

In a nutshell – the sauna is a passable standard, but they have terrible choices in trailers, and have strange choice in business partners and have yet to learn anything about customer service.…oh yes and the sauna was a little damaged when it arrived and there was no thermometer included as promised but these are of little importance when compared to the rest.

From start to finish, the service from the team was outstanding! From design, ground preparation and installation of decking, hot tub and sauna. The craftsmanship and quality was to a high standard.

This was a very helpful team in the design process and it was a really quick and efficient process. Excellent service and the sauna’s were of a very high standard. Great craftsmanship and really pleased with the product - would highly recommend and excited to enjoy it.

Got my thermo wood barrel sauna designed and built by them, so happy with the quality. The globe window is amazing. They took care of all the little details even down to staining and oiling the wood on the final day of the install. Would highly recommend.
