This review applies to both the BBB Mid-South and the IABBB—because they operate as a single, coordinated system. I filed seven formal complaints against FedEx, detailing ongoing delivery failures, false statements, and a complete lack of resolution. Instead of investigating or enforcing accountability, the BBB helped suppress the record.

On February 18, 2025, the IABBB instructed BBB Mid-South to merge all of my past and future complaints into a single open file. They confirmed that even fully documented complaints would not be treated as new, would be hidden from public view, and would not be marked “Unresolved”—even if the issue was never addressed. BBB Mid-South complied. Valid, ongoing issues were buried.

The BBB also confirmed in writing that unless a complaint includes a tracking number, the business is not required to read it. This policy conveniently filters out countless unresolved delivery issues, even when the company is at fault.

Worse, the IABBB admitted that a business only needs to submit a response—not a truthful one, not a complete one—for a case to be closed. There is no requirement that the business address the complaint’s actual content, nor any follow-up to ensure resolution.

Throughout this process, the BBB and IABBB repeatedly cited “policy” as justification for their actions—yet refused to provide that policy in writing, even after multiple requests. Meanwhile, the only published complaint-handling policies and “Standards for Trust” on their own websites directly contradict how my case was handled. This confirms the policies are being selectively enforced—or ignored altogether.

This is not a fluke—it’s institutional. Every regional BBB must follow IABBB directives. Consumers in any state can have their complaints silenced, and companies can avoid accountability with one vague reply.

This system doesn't just harm consumers. It harms small and medium businesses that pay for accreditation in good faith. When the BBB protects large corporations that fail customers, it damages the credibility of every business associated with the BBB’s brand. Accreditation becomes a liability—not a symbol of trust.

The BBB promotes itself as a nonprofit—but its actions prioritize reputation management over consumer protection. If you’ve experienced similar misconduct, file your complaint with the FTC, your state Attorney General, and your state’s consumer protection agency. The BBB may ignore you—but those agencies won’t. If enough people speak up, this system of suppression will be exposed.

Pathetic service. tryin reaching out to them from past 7 hours and attempted the call for 5 times and every time they cut the call after putting me on hold by saying that we are forwarding you to the concerned department.

Is actually a scam. The purpose of this organization is to sell BBB certificates to the merchant.
It's a form of raket. if the merchant does not pay, he has a bad rating. However, if the merchant pays the BBB seal, he is protected, he will receive a perfect rating and will never be bothered by customer complaints.

Contacted Better Business Bureau early Sunday morning after 4 months of waiting for money from a cancelled flight and by that Thursday the full flight refund was in my account! Outstanding service and communication!

BBB is a sham, you cannot get through to anyone and it's not monitored. So if America's BBB is faux then how can we expect businesses to run properly.

This review is intended to set the record straight, especially to Tim of Canada and the two people who "liked" his inaccurate review. It is clear the claim was made out of ignorance and not out of a malicious attempt to mislead people. First, I am unaffiliated in any way with the Better Business Bureau. My goal is simply to ensure that if we are going to give our opinions, they should be factual. To Tim and the two other uninformed reviewers, the Better Business Bureau is not affiliated in any way with any government. Taxpayers pay NO MONEY to support the BBB. It is a private, non-profit organization. Whether they are good at what they do or whether they disappoint you is not my business, but let's review them with facts and not with inaccurate information. I believe the good people at Trustpilot would agree with me.

I contacted BBB to get the PSAs that I paid for. For doing this SFI terminated my account in front of BBB's very eyes. I have lost over $10,000 and 5 years of hard work because of this. BBB did not resolve the dispute; BBB made it worse! The BBB has condoned SFI's behavior and knowingly has become complicit in SFI's elaborate scam.

BBB needs to go and never be written in the history books.
Spring Financial is a scam company that takes money from the already depressed and vulnerable citizens, keep in mind during the pandemic. They take your money, they right it up as they gave you money and report it as they gave it to you. If you stop a payment because you were educated by a legit and good standing loan company, Spring will report it as non payment to the loan which you never had received. Hence your credit score takes a serious ding with a big lie that they gave you money.
pull your pants up BBB and do what your mission says you do. Stop the scamming and fraud actions toward the Canadian Citizens. Also stop these kinda actions towards the system. There is not difference with paying a hacker to tamper with this stuff to make us look good without even trying.

The BBB and MOST so called " consumer agencies " are a waste of time. They do NOTHING at all. These agencies have no REAL power to get refunds back to customers. If you have any complaints about a company and you want a refund, your only perfect solution is to get a charge back through your bank. DO NOT waste time on these do nothing agencies !!

The BBB: a for-profit organization that protects their members (who pay the BBB membership fees) by blocking reviews/ratings on the BBB site that make their members look bad.

Speaking from personal experience: dealing with the Calgary BBB revealed the truths I've described above.

Useless at best. If you want to experience backlash and or product mishap use this organization. Your best bet is to leave a review in TrustPilot and consider joining this "honest" community.
As a customer and consumer I want to spend my currency and get what I pay for, very simple. Like you, I absolutely hate being ripped off or screwed over!

BBB is a business, and that is what to remember, if a company does not pay for their services, then they do not post the positive reviews on the site. Its a scam and reviews on the BBB should not be trusted.

The BBB has helped me a lot over the years, and even when they couldn't help they let me spread the word about criminally negligent businesses!
