I bought three pairs of boots on-line, which arrived in good condition and promptly. I had to return one pair of boots, which were too big. The other two pairs were excellent. I was able to return them to the store in Nottingham City Centre. The staff were all very polite, helpful and knowledgeable. I was glad to talk to an actual shop-assistant, rather than wrangle with an on-line robot.

Excellent service at Black's, I wanted to try a pair of shoes that were end of line so they didn't have my size. James the shop assistant made the effort to bring out alternatives that would suit without being prompted rather than just saying they didn't have the particular one I asked for. As it turns out the alternatives suggested were remarkably good so I ended up buying them. Really helpful, knowledgeable and thoughtful staff. Would recommend

After contacting customer service online I was asked to return some footwear to the Nottingham store. Amy dealt with the matter (which wasn’t straightforward) with good humour, patience and a determination to sort things out. Her approach was exemplary and she is a credit to the organisation. Raa also deserves a positive mention. Her near encyclopaedic knowledge of the footwear range together with her excellent communication skills made it a pleasure to shop there. Highly recommended

Plenty of good stock and options in the shop. A lovely and friendly member of staff, Raa, was on hand to help out with sizes and check everything was all right. Really happy with my new sandals. John, who served me on the till, was also really pleasant and friendly. An all round great experience from a first time shopper at this shop.

Purchased a CM Extreme 100 canister and was not informed that it is not refundable. Perhaps I should have known better but a reminder from the cashier would of made me think twice about actually buying the product.

Following correspondence will customer care team they informed me that Gas is not refundable in store due to safety.
This is strange because online purchased gas can ONLY be returned to store as per their website. Absolutely bonkers!

Ok. All is well in the world again! Customer care resolved the issue and Nottingham branch have now refunded the item. So my 1 star is now a little harsh. Faith has been restored.

Excellent service. Friendly and very helpful advice from John who fitted a rucksack for DofE (and for future years). Refreshing to have knowledgeable staff who know what they are talking about. Seems like a rarity nowadays as not many high street specialist shops left. Left with the perfect rucksack and lots of top tips. Thank you very much!

Went into the shop today expecting to see things my son needed for DofE and buy them, but instead what we got was a personalised shopping experience, which offered great advice and support and meant we left with the correct equipment. All three staff in there today were great, but we only got John’s name. I don’t expect this level of customer service in shops anymore and it was so refreshing and unexpected to receive. Thank you.

Really glad I went into Blacks today. I was looking for a rucksack big enough to carry camping gear. The sales assistant waited till I asked for help and the guidance offered was excellent. He had a deep understanding of the items and he helped me to understand what I was looking for. I bought an Osprey Rook 65 which well below the list price and I got an extra discount for my YHA membership. The in shop experience was much better than buying online
