It was an amazing experience working with botonics from start to the end. I was so nervous about starting the acne treatment but i had such a lovely and kind doctor, Doctor Maria who was ever so thoughtful and considerate and I was at ease during the whole journey. She explained everything and answered all my questions. She advised me well throughout the whole acne treatment journey and I felt so comfortable under her care.

It was pretty easy to get into contact with botonics and after the initial consultation with the doctor and after the blood test, I was promptly started on treatment and looked after very well. A great experience. I was on their Roaccutane treatment after a consultation with one of their dermatologists. My skin had been my greatest insecurity since I was 12 and began to experience deep and painful acne all over my face, back, chest and arms. I had severe acne for 7 years and tried every sort of treatment out there, from topical creams to antibiotics to expensive skin routines, until I was recommended by my GP to see a derm about starting Roaccutane. The waitlist was incredibly long so I looked into private care and came across botonics. Wonderful treatment even if I was being treated from Aberdeen. It was no trouble to get blood tests done and the regular online meetings with Dr Niarah Ahmad kept record of all metrics throughout the few months of treatment, and the only side-effect I experienced was some dry skin around my lips which has now completely healed. There was a bit of an initial “purge” where my skin flared up in places it hadn’t before but that went away after a few weeks. Any and all recommendations, such as taking the isotretinoin pill with a high-fat meal, are thoroughly explained and I noticed Botonics is very quick to reply via email. Everything is very carefully monitored and dosages of isotretinoin were adjusted based on my experiences. I am very happy with the service I received from Botonics. The initial consultation was free and came with no pressure at all. They were happy to follow up with questions by email and answer a few calls.

When I did decide to proceed they moved very quickly and I had had my blood test and received the medication within a week. The blood tests are very convenient - central London or at home (for extra). I found the central London location always had slots available to suit me.

Consultations with the doctor were relaxed and held by whatsapp video call. She was able to answer all of my questions and give advice about lifestyle and general skin maintenance. The last call was very helpful - basically free advice about how I can manage my skin into the future.

In terms of how the treatment went for me. I had minor headaches for about a week when I started, and then the dry skin throughout - but this is what was expected. I did feel tired at points. It was easy enough to manage with moisturisers and sun-cream. I gave up alcohol but I understand that very limited drinking is possible.

I had suffered acne for at least a decade, and the NHS kept trying antibiotics which didn't do much in the long term, and had their own side effects. For me the change was amazing, I'm now 100% spot free for three months, and it's really boosted my confidence.

I also think the treatment was very fairly priced as it was a wrap around package - 3 consultations, 3 blood tests and the medicine delivered to your door by courier.
