Absolutely shocking experience,
I paid a £227 deposit for car insurance, only to receive an email after payment telling me the policy wouldn’t even go live until I confirmed details over the phone. At no point before paying was this made clear.
Because I urgently needed to get my new car home, I had no choice but to take out another insurance policy elsewhere — which, unlike this company, provided documents instantly and without hassle.
A few hours later, I spoke to Broker Experts to cancel. I explained the situation clearly, but instead of any understanding, I was told I’d be charged a £75 cancellation fee — despite the fact the policy was NEVER active and I couldn’t even use it. When I challenged this, I was told to “read the terms and conditions” — terms I only received AFTER making the payment.
To make matters worse, they didn’t just charge £75… they took £152.
This feels completely unfair and misleading. Charging customers for cancelling a service that was never even active is unacceptable. The whole process seems designed to trap you into fees once they’ve taken your money.
Avoid this company at all costs. There are far more transparent and honest insurers out there.

Bob was helpful, courteous and patient. He emailed me the policy and confirmed to us all was in order. Also added some more missing details on our policy. Other queries like increasing the annual mileage and price were not answered though.

Except service every time, Tom was very helpful and had everything sorted in minutes!!

They take your money before insurance is finalised and then if it isn't finalised they charge you £75 for returning your payment. Beware.

Guy on the phone was very polite and helpful.
