Unfortunately

Unfortunately, our Butlin’s experience was far below expectations. The accommodation felt tired and not very clean, the resort was overcrowded with long queues everywhere, and most activities didn’t feel worth the extra cost. Food was overpriced for the quality, and the whole trip felt stressful rather than enjoyable. Definitely not good value for money and not the fun break we were hoping for.

Soul weekend is a jazz/funk weekend !

A group of us booked to stay at the Skegness Soul Weekend, this was not a Soul weekend, it was Jazz/funk music every night and while some of the artist playing were good I feel that the weekend was not as it was sold .
Butlins you need to rebrand the weekend to avoid confusion.
Rooms were ok as long as you don’t
look too closely. Rooms smelled damp
More bar staff needed as the queues were enormous.

Skegness for a Back to the 2000’s not likely 😡

Skegness for a Back to the 2000’s weekend 9-12 2026.
Check in very efficient much quicker than Minehead but that’s as good as it got. Room was filthy, no towels had to request them, pools of water outside our room which meant feet were wet if your weren’t careful.
Paid £50 extra for the VIP so wouldn’t have to queue at the bar but the very small VIP area and bar in Reds had no beer just lager and cider so had to queue anyway.
Second day VIP area rammed for Bingo Bongo so why not make sure all those who paid could fit in.
Breakfast ok but often cold, evening meal in Saturday was awful. Entertainment was ok but seemed a lack of it compared to other years we have been in Minehead.
Came away a day early as could not be bothered with it for another night.

What a loud of flood

We got to our holiday dropped are bags in our room which we thought smelt damp left our bags went for food and entertainment came back that evening to a flood. we believe butlins didn’t handle this in the right manner they offered us a £50 to spend on site after are stressful move back and forth 3 times from fair ground apartments to a downgrounded one then back up to fair grounds again taking precious time from our short break the following day. We then decided to wait till welder resort and speak to head office and they feel a £50 off your next break is enough absolutely disgusting it was a stressful 3 days and quite tiring tbh

Overall could have been better

Overall could have been better. Just general standard could have been met but Tia from bottomless brunch on Saturday 10th Jan really made us feel welcomed, paid attention to detail. Knew our order and was very attentive when we needed anything. Asset to Butlins. Made the other issues smaller because she had great hospitality. It was too hot and she sorted the issue within seconds. Lovely person

Profits over people

Have been going to Butlins Bognor Regis every year for the last 15yrs. Unfortunately we couldn’t attend our new years break due to my mum being taken into hospital and needing emergency care. Absolutely no empathy or compassion from Butlins customer service. I pleaded with them if we could move our break to a different date… “no” can I gift our pre paid food package to friends who we were due to holiday with … “no”. Instead we lost £800 on a holiday we couldn’t attend. My husband was going to go with the kids, so as to not waste all that money, but the kids were so upset (with nanny being in hospital) they didn’t want to leave their mum either.
Butlins happy to pocket the money this time but have now lost a long time customer

Butlins Skegness Christmas and NYE

We stayed for 10 nights over Christmas and New Year as a family of four: two adults in our 40s and two older children aged 11 and 16.
Accommodation
We stayed in a Gold apartment and, unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The carpets and sofas were heavily worn and stained, which immediately made the apartment feel tired and off-putting. The bedding was clean and it looked freshly hoovered, but the table was wonky and overall the apartment felt neglected.
Crowds and organisation
The Christmas break was busy but didn’t feel overbooked, which was a positive. Even when shows were fully booked online, there still seemed to be some availability on the day, which helped ease the pressure.
What we didn’t enjoy
The food at the Beachcomber Inn was genuinely inedible for us.
There was very little earlier or daytime entertainment aimed at older children and adults. The Skyline has lots going on, but it’s clearly designed for younger kids. With older children, there’s only so much time you can spend in arcades and at the fairground.
When daytime shows were on, they were often held in just one venue, which led to overcrowding and made the experience frustrating.
Some of the entertainment quality was poor. A few acts were noticeably out of tune. We know taste is personal, but as a family we didn’t enjoy the magic show (very overcrowded and difficult to see), Iconic (apart from the acrobats), or the Snow White panto. The repeated jokes about private parts felt excessive and unnecessary.
Splash World had a very strong and unpleasant smell. I’m quite sensitive to smells and felt nauseous while there. The water also felt thick, and overall the cleanliness and ventilation didn’t feel quite right.
What we loved
Some of the evening entertainment was excellent. Bingo Bango and the silent disco were great fun and real highlights for us.
There were also some genuinely high-quality acts. Animal Guyz, McBusted and Weekend Warriors were our favourites.
Chopstix was a fantastic addition to the resort. The food was consistently good and a welcome change.
New Year’s Eve We stayed for New Year’s Eve last year and really struggled to get a table anywhere, as we don’t enjoy queuing. This year was completely different: no queues, plenty of space, and a much more relaxed experience, which made a huge difference.
That said, because there isn’t much happening before 7pm, Centre Stage was often overcrowded, leaving people frustrated. Spreading entertainment more evenly throughout the day would really improve this.
Overall
Despite the negatives, we did have a great time overall. New Year’s Eve was particularly brilliant, and we honestly don’t think many places could offer a better NYE party atmosphere. We would definitely return for New Year’s again, but improvements are needed, especially around accommodation standards and daytime entertainment for older children and adults.

WITNESSED THE SECURITY MANAGER FIGHTING IN THE CAR PARK

Arrived as a family for a 3 day break at Butlins Bognor Regis to be confronted with 2 members of staff on duty in full uniform fighting in the car park area in front of families screaming in horror and disbelief including young children as young as 3 years old. All the time another member of security staff stood by in close proximity laughing. If not for my involvement things would of been a lot worse. One of the members of staff throwing punches at the other member of staff was identified as a Security Manager who advised me after separating them both that the staff member he was fighting with had earlier in the day intentionally assaulted him by driving over his foot but no police were called and the staff member had remained on site for what it seemed was round 2. Seriously who are these people employing? Absolute thugs.
Matt Rake and the title you have given him as resort director should be ashamed of himself and should also be made accountable for his staffs behaviour. Mr Rake is not fit for purpose and hes certainly not superior to his paying customers that he fails to engage with when politely requested in relation to discussing such serious matters.
I put myself in harms way to deescalate a situation that should never have happened and have never received an apology from any of the staff involved or a thank you from Mr Rake. I have lost all confidence in Butlins.

Butlins bognor

We stayed at Butlins bognor over Christmas we had a gold apartment
Which was not cheap. I agree with a lot of reviews it was run down chipped furniture etc boards in the kitchen broken but not enough to ruin our break. It was however clean and nicely provided for. The staff onsite were obviously understaffed most looking very stressed but everyone was pleasant and helpful. We had an issue with a non draining shower tray that when reported was sorted within 2 hours so that was fine. The worst thing for us was the food we booked premier dining. We did this in 2023 and the food was amazing this time not so much it was a bit like school dinners very little choice and very little taste. Disorganised service a lot of time waiting for things to be restocked no cutlery untill you asked definitely corners have been cut to save money I assume. The new play experience was very good but I have real issues with the tokens you buy not being refunded if you have any left over as we planned everything carefully but then couldn't get booked into a few things as they had already been booked up example the escape rooms. The golf and the ping pong we enjoyed the vr arcade was good we also did archery very enjoyable
The two shows we attended mythical beasts and the pantomime were very funny and entertaining however there was nothing else I feel this has really been condensed there is usually a show every night to attend. Butlins you are moving away from family entertainment to try and push people into spending more money to get the entertainment they want. We would return but next time we won't bother with the dining and I will book everything I want to do really early.

Would not go back or recommend

Arrived huge queue yo check in in car- no toilets available. Woman at kiosk couldn't tell us how to get to accomodation. Then took 15 minutes to find a parking space and then another 15 to get in (as was so tight - then had to pull back out to get out as doors wouldn't open due to being about 3" between cars!)

No luggage trolleys to be seen!
People struggling with luggage and dropping things everywhere. No Site or customer service staff to be seen!
Very poor signage to appartment.
I am on my own with 2 kids but luckily some kind people helped us and stayed with them and luggage while I ran around looking for our apartment! This whole process took 30 minutes!

Finally arrived in apartment. Very dirty and smelt of cheese!

Had to use our own towels to clean up water spillage around toilet

Would not give us towels as not in 'right apartment'.

Told customer service about need for basic cleaning, but no one came out.

Then customer service closed over night from 9pm to 10am.

Place is run down also, which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so dirty!

Also could really do with matress, duvet and pillow case protectors and burning the old ones. Bleugh!

Christmas letdown

Really disappointed this visit as we normally don’t have a many issue with accommodation but we like many other seemed too have a lot of problems.
When we arrived straight away the apartment smelt unpleasant and the bedroom cabinet was lopsided with the selves folded in and the bolts exposed through the gaps, definitely not safe for anyone especially children. Big chunks of carpet missing in the bedroom with a loose off cut filling the gaps, holes on the walls and around the skirting boards and exposed screws sticking out. Grim and sticky marks over most the walls as well as what looked like sick stains on the carpet. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly as the last guests soap was still in the shower and a toilet seat one slip away from falling off, a noisy extractor fan that rumbled throughout the apartment if left on and aswell as other bits of rubbish around the apartment and all though we found it amusing two bracelets titled “d**k master” & “omen” so I’m assuming from the adult weekend 5 weeks ago.
Only found out after buying frozen food that the oven didn’t work (thankfully we only stocked up on two frozen pizzas) and the kitchen item like cutlery and plates had to all be rewashed as old food residue was still on them from previous guests.
Lights in two of the rooms didn’t work properly or at all and the thermostat literally come away from the wall exposing the wires underneath and to make matters worse the temperature no matter how much we changed it kept resetting its self to 24.5c so it was boil of freeze as the only option was to turn it off completely.
Swimming pool was about the only thing that was worth going for as the entertainment was the same shows from the summer and other then a snowman and reindeer in the main tent there was no real Xmas show or Christmas things going on so that was really disappointing.
You kind of get the feeling it’s a limited effort as the breaks was the cheaper off peak unlike the ones that cost 5x the price in school holidays.
I had spoken about some of the bits to guest services on the first day but the cooker being the final straw and out of hours I relayed all the issues to them today only to be told the cooker has “child locks” I assume she ment the depressed over buttons most modern cookers have which simply press out that we did. And when I said if it’s something else you have to do then why is there no instructions and the response was just you should have called guess services. She didn’t seem shocked or overly bothered about the rooms disrepair and it gave the feeling that it wasn’t the first time she had had this conversation today. It was simply put that she would log it all as a complaint. We didn’t bother staying tonight and come home.
I remember taking my eldest now 21 to Butlin’s when she was a baby and it’s so sad to see each year we go it going more and more down hill. I’m not going to say we won’t visit again as we probably will but live in hopes it may return to its former family packed self and not just another resort looking to maximise on profit while giving its guests the bare minimum.

currently in another hotel because we had to check out one night after arriving and to be honest we would have checked out sooner if we could but it was too late to find somewhere to stay. we travelled with our 2 young excited children for a festive break, the comfort room they put us in was so bad it was full of mould the shower didnt work and the heating didnt work i conplained to the security as there was no help in the site, 3 security guards knocked on our door after that and scared my wife and children and tbh made us feel very intimidated.
we left and found a hotel elsewhere it was so bad, my sons were very upset and i couldnt sleep i woke up with itches the bedding was terrible it was dirty and they had brought us another duvet which was filthy. so disappointed. going to push my hardest for a refund or report this place, due to my son becoming ill

BUTLINS MINEHEAD

We visit once or twice a year. Young family of four, two toddlers.
It’s the first time we have visited around the Christmas period. We found compared to other stays the entertain was very limited in fact pretty poor. Considering the weather had been awful all week, I thought maybe there would be more shows or more for the children to do indoors. Access to the funfair was a no go in the pouring rain and apart from the odd 20 minute shows there was nothing like we have previously experienced. Instead spent £200 on the arcade machines. The night time entertainment in Reds was ok. So much more could have been done, again very repetitive night entertainment.
We paid for one of the best apartments which was okay. Clean on arrival - unfortunately bins were never emptied throughout the week. No fresh linen throughout the week, but did have clean towels throughout.
The food within the week was very repetitive carvery every day.. which was fine for the first three days but by day four the thought of eating it again was a no. Instead we went to the Firehouse Grill. The food was lovely. Kids eat for £1 with every adult meal. We were greeted with warm smiles and absolutely brilliant service from Simon. Who catered to our every need. He is an absolute asset. Simon went above and beyond and we are so grateful, thank you!
We personally would not return at this time of year in future. Wouldn’t really rate as a Christmassy experience. Look forward to returning in the summer time during tots week where there is a lot more going on entertainment wise for the children. Also look forward to returning to Firehouse Grill!

don’t book! never again

absolutely disgusting rooms dirty sheets windows draughty heaters not working, filthy resort, stolen from and staff couldn’t care! had to call security at 12.45am as a mass brawl was happening outside our window, we booked a tots festive break! all ended up with food poisoning, staff couldn’t have cared less and removed us from site when we told them the food had made us throw up(not poorly no temperatures, checked by a nurse, confirmed no virus) refused a refund and threatened to lock us out of our rooms, left us waiting 6 hours outside in rain with small children until we arranged transport home, restaurant serving raw cold food and every plate and piece of cutlery covered in old food unwashed, glasses dirty had to ask for plastic cups! shows average at best, reds entertainment basic and boring! would never go back to butlins again even if they paid me i’ve never experienced anything like it! customer services absolutely shocking.

A festive wonderland let down…

This was our 3rd year booking and coming to Butlin’s at Bognor for the festive wonderland weekend. Sadly this year was overly disappointing. Firstly, the change to checking in was the first major downfall. Why on earth can’t you check in via car at the booth anymore? You have to lug your luggage and your kids into the tent with no signposting on where to go to get your keys then walk all the way back. The Father Christmas experience lacked massively too, Santa himself was disappointing and didn’t engage well with the children while feeling too rushed compared to past experiences.
Swimming was horrendous. The queue and overcrowding needs to be managed better while more cleaning of the changing rooms and facilities.
Butlin’s has certainly looked better in previous years. Poor communication, poor services and facilities. You can do better and you should! People want to come back and experience those family holidays and you’re taking that away.

Concern Regarding Price Changes During Booking

I was booking Butlins and the price changed right at the end of the process. I don’t understand how the price can increase during the booking itself. I assumed it was because of the Christmas season, so I went ahead and booked it. But now the price has dropped again, which feels really unfair. When I called them, they said they couldn’t understand what I was trying to explain.

BOGNOR BUTLINS IS A DISGRACE!

Arrived on Monday 8th for the first time for a Monday-Friday break and we got into the room at 4pm. It was disgusting!
The table and chairs were dirty and covered in some type of slime in places. There was dirty marks and smudges all up the units, sides and even on the mirror!
When checking the beds, the twin beds, both of them had pubic hair in. Both also had multiple stains throughout the sheets, these clearly hadn't been changed! The double bed seemed ok though...
I also found false nails scattered about the bedroom!!!
The bath was so dirty.
The apartment made me feel dirty!
Outside the apartment was an absolute mess. Bags of rubbish, trays of drink glasses, massive dirty water puddles.
The cleaners obviously don't clean!!!
The place also smells strongly of Cannabis!! It was vile!
These apartments are not fit for purpose and even more disgusting for my 16 month old daughter!!!
For Christmas, this place also honestly didn't look or feel that festive when we walked around. I expected more.
After 3 hours, we packed everything back in the car and left
A complete waste of £129. I'm so disappointed.
This place is disgusting and I will never return!

Butlin’s Minehead

All check in points were closed.
Very disorganised arrival.
Long walks to everything.
It just had a prison with pubs and cafés vibe to it.
The staff were friendly I must say.
The food was bad in the basic food hall.
Major breaches of health and safety for example Turkey warming for hours breeding food poising by the minute.
The family I met all went down with food poisoning and she was a head chef and will make a complaint.
The apartment was basic but clean and warm which was lovley.
You get what you pay for.
Don’t do it on the cheap !!!??

Overal a great time is had each time we…

Overal a great time is had each time we come to Butlins. My son gets bored very easily so a relaxed holiday would not work for us. It is run down but for the price when booked early it is great! 107.00 for a 4 night stay for 2 of us cant complain
