Absolutely awful accommodation
Absolutely awful accommodation.
I booked for 4th August for Skegness butlins to the 11th for one adult a teenager and a 5 year old we paid for Gold at £1,379.00 .
Upon arrival the Guest check-in colleague did not acknowledge us for at least 5 mins , which our journey up by train wasn't pleasant as we had huge delays getting us there at 5.45 instead of 2.44pm .
When she did attend to us she said we were right at the back of the resort ( a good 15 min walk with a 5 year old) .
Anyway we finally found our room with no help .
When we got in I was shocked 😲 it was smelly like damp or mould. there were brown stains on supposedly clean bed sheets?
mould around every window, window seals broke causing drafts and window not closing fully .
smear marks all over the walls
stains on the sofas and carpets and curtains.
it smelt that bad in the girls room I had to move a bed into my room as it was the room that didn't snell foul.
the shower was mouldy too.
Honestly in my opinion that wasn't gold I've seen carvevans with more class on a bronze standard.
No I didn't bother going Guest service to complain as after reading one others comments on butlins room they said " well if you slept one night you accept the conditions of the room"
it's appalling how down hill the accommodation has gone , I thought fir gold I'd be at least near the activities and the room to be in better standards.
I'm currently awaiting an email I sent as we actually went home on the 7th staying only 3 night as we were fed up with the room and the resort, still not heard anything back I'm not holding out that I will . but I will not be returning at all

They offer a drinks package but have removed it for a football tournament it is offered when i have looked everything is booked through Butlins to start, Tried to remove someone off my booking and the price went up they are an absolute joke.

Visited minehead butlins for a long weekend.
Accommodation, not clean looks very tired, things were bodged rather than fixed properly, needs a good overhaul. Kids duvet that was provided, covers were clean but duvet itself stained allot and looked very old. Outside "patio" was strewn with rubbish and cigarette butt's.
The hole site was very pickled with litter just looks very uncared for.
Entertainment, was ok we loved the silent discos. Very much red coat based activities these were ok but wouldn't rush back to see.
Timings; everything's 10-5 which is ok but during peak holiday season you would expect things open longer especially the pool and fairground rides.
And allot of the shows / evening activities places finished at 10pm, i mean fair enough it's aimed at children but people don't want to pay to return to there digs that early!!
There's a large arcade which is kept on top of allot of ticket winning machines. However the prize room was closed most of the weekend due to staff "shortage" when it did open for a few hours the queue was nearly 2 hours long with one man running it who was rude and quite obnoxious, it was very clear he didn't want to be there, considering it was shut for so long you might have thought they'd put extra staff in to help but no. And after the long wait the prizes were rubbish and over priced, eg. A 10p vimto bar was 150 tickets basically 3 quid.
Food: we opted for a catering package which gave us unlimited breakfast and evening meals, these were very pleasant meals and pretty tasty. Staff in there very friendly and responsive, my only criticism being that everytime we went in regardless of times it was heaving.
Overall not my worst ever holiday but considering how much we paid overall we were very disappointed and would not be in any rush to return

Went as a female party and arrived to no hot water on the site!
Spent 3 hours chasing up to be told they will try fix it. Back and fourth to guest services as they didn’t have the decency to ring me. I had to spend my weekend ringing them to be told we could use another accommodation for one night to shower but not stay and this was after I spent nearly 6 hours ringing them!
So we were expected to walk to another accommodation to then walk back to ours to get ready! Less than helpful and I wouldn’t moan but how much was paid I think it’s disgusting and then to ignore we emails complaining….
Currently waiting to hear back from the complaints after they keep ignoring emails after they think hot water doesn’t really matter and to be told by one security “it’s Butlin’s, what do you expect?”
Erm the basic requirements and hot water is one 🤷♀️
Save you're money, go elsewhere
Absolute dump, currently at the Minehead resort, summer holidays and the entertainment is rubbish, half of it is now just redcoats or bingo etc, no live bands, shows etc like there used to be, too many people on site that you now have to book the shows and can't because there all booked up so can't even go out unless I want to spend 300quid in an arcade, the fair is now shut this evening and only 3 rides available during the day. Couldn't ride one ride today because Butlins now shut the ride if there's so much as a breeze. Swimming is absolutely packed so unable to also book that, I've ended up paying 400quid to use a skypark and stay in a chalet. I might aswell of just gone to the local park back home. Everything 5x the price of the normal high street prices. All they care about is taking you're money. We won't be returning and might even leave early as there's nothing to do and nothing on. Save you're money and go elsewhere.

My partner works in education and We booked a last minute trip to minehead for the beginning of September before he returned to work. However, he didnt realise his return to work date was sooner then expected and clashed with the dates we had just booked.
I contacted the customer service line and got through to a lady called Reena. She was very friendly and listened to our mistake. We understood we would have to rebook for the October half term and the price would naturally be more. She patiently went through all our options including the costs involved in making amendments and changing our dates and accommodation.
We took a moment to consider our options and said we would call back to confirm what we would do. We tried to call but we had just missed her as she popped out for lunch, but another friendly advisor, alex said he would get her to call us back.
Reena called back as promised and we managed to change our booking for later in the year. She was also conscious that we have a under 1 with us and made sure we had a ground floor accommodation for ease with the little one. Reena was polite, friendly, willing to go above and beyond so that we were still able to salvage our mistake! I work in customer service myself and understand the pressures of the role, especially during peak seasons.

I am disappointed I have paid for of peak dining and late check out and went to get breakfast at 10 to be told martyn it was closed at 10am and we should have been informed. We was not informed the staff said on Sunday evening see you monday morning
This was all not noted on the welcome pack. Martin said I should contact guest services to which I did she said she will call me back. This is unacceptable I have a hungry 6 year old child and ended up cutting our time at short to get mcdonalds. I would like a small reimbursement for inconvenience caused, for the days breakfast me and my family missed out on
And having to spend more money on breakfast elsewhere, I will not be coming back to butlins and not recommend it to anybody
The dining options need to be fully disclosed to people who are purchasing dining options especially of peak times. I will continue to express my concerns regarding my holiday until this has been rectified or sorted out
Don't rate for the money
Don't rate for the money. Nothings open late any more either - eg. Papa johns is never open. Everything seems to be falling apart. All the doors to the electrics in the shallots are hanging off, so you can see lots of live wires etc.... won't come again and will tell all friends about my horrid experience too.
Butlins Minehead
I paid a lot of money for a week at Butlins Minehead and I was not impressed. The chalet was ill equipped, hardly any utensils, we had to go and buy some, no can opener, 1 small saucepan, 1 oven tray, not enough plates for a family of 6! There were no plug sockets in the bedrooms, so charging up phones was a mission! The mattresses were awful, stained and uncomfortable. The prices they charge were ridiculous for the activities, I.e for a bike hire £16 for 30 minutes, plus if you have a baby, heaven help you if you want a bed guard or high chair, everything was priced individually per week. I have been to Butlins before and have had a great time, but I'm afraid I will not come back again. I was so disappointed that we left before our holiday ended.

What an absolute shambles of a company.
Booked a weekender, no option of booking vip passes at the time, so assumed all bars would be open to all.
Then received an email to give the option of booking vip passes, great!
Tried to book the passes, no option online?
Contacted Butlins snail mail to be told vip had been sold out. What ?
Usual response of sorry, is there anything else we can do to help? Obviously not!!
So, may or may not turn up for weekend now and they have lost our custom - or may just use accommodation to explore Minehead, Butlins can stick their £6 per pint !!!!!!!!!
They take £millions a year so wont give a toss about this review, but people be warned - it's all about the money to Butlins.....

We had fantastic service from Steve in the dining room from the first day of our holiday he arranged for our table to be reserved for breakfast and evening meal.he was also there if we needed any help.
Butlins Uncomfortable stay
Butlins, never ever again! Stay was not clean at all, bathrooms were dirty and stinky, no pressure in bathroom showers, no towels provided.
In the kitchen , Microwave and freeze were not working at all. All our frozen food wasted and lost 100's of pounds. No fan was provided though the rooms were very hot so you can't sleep at all. Bed mattresses were like wet mattress and very noisy. I would not recommend this place to anyone at all.

Booked a holiday which cost a lot but sadly due to a bereavement im no longer able to attend , so I thought even if it cost a little extra I would gift it to my brother , but no they refused as they said its classed as a resale , no compassion for the situation at all ,all they got to do is change the name there not loosing out holiday is still paid for ect , offered an alternative date for this year but I can't, so money is lost , im not bothered about the money just want to gift it to my brother , that said I shan't book with these again

We stayed in a premium lodge for 7 days, the accommodation was very clean and comfortable for 4 adults and 1 child, although the 3rd room was a little small but manageable, the only downside for the accommodation was the mattresses very very uncomfortable and no one had a good nights sleep while we were there, the lodges are lovely and quiet and stocked with all we needed, the last 2 days the whole of the lodge site smelt strongly of sewage not sure if a tank needed emptying but did stop us sitting outside on the last 2 days. We were about 10 minutes walk to the main butlins site which was easy to access.
Restaurants:
We had the dine around package which in hind site we would not have again, this meant we were allocated the beachcomber for breakfast which had very little choice for breakfast and was missing fresh fruit so we didnt use it every day.
We then had a choice of restaurants for either lunch or evening.
The diner - lovely meal in there food was good but they had only 1 person taking orders and doing the drinks so took a long time to get to the front of the queue, unfortunately on dine-around you do not have the option to order at your table you have to order at the bar, also I had to ask for cutlery and serviettes for both the meal and dessert as they were not replenished when empty.
The beachcomber - really enjoyed dinner here came out hot and did not have to wait long being a bigger venue this seemed to have the most staff and it showed.
Firehouse grill - the food here was very good however the first time we ate here it took 1 1/2 hours for the food to get to us and I had to chase it up, with a 5 year old this was for from ideal, I spoke to Casey who was front of house and I have to say she is the most rude person I have come across. I asked where our food was her reply was we are very busy )they had about 5 tables with people at them) I pointed out it would have been helpful to have told us when we arrived they were running so far behind so we could have had a choice before ordering, Casey told me they didnt know the wait was so long accused me of shouting at her which I hadnt she was just so rude I will be taking this up with Butlins direct, we also heard at least 2 other people complain about the wait, whilst waiting food was sitting on the counter waiting to be taken to tables and only 1 person actually taking it to tables, our starters sat there so long they were inedible, the mains came out and the chicken was incredible but when we had finished no one came to clear the table or sort out desserts until we asked, a man named Mark sorted this out and was extremely polite and apologetic he is an asset to the team and this should be mentioned. We did return to give it another try as the food had been so good, we asked when we arrived about a wait time and was told there wasnt a great deal of wait time between order and getting our food and on this occasion there wasnt the second experience was a thousand times better than the first.
Entertainment - we saw Stephen Mulhern and Mythical beasts both shows were excellent our 5 year old thoroughly enjoyed both shows and we cannot fault these in any way. We also went to the circus which again was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by us all, a little loud so maybe worth taking ear defenders if your children do not like loud noises but it was a very entertaining show.
Swimming pool - cannot fault the pool lovely temperature and lots of room, just be careful with the floors in the changing rooms as they are very slippery and we saw a few people fall over in there.
Funfair & arcades - we didnt spend a lot of time at the fair but when we did the rides had only small queues and the little one enjoyed himself, we did pay for the go karts as he wanted to have a go and cant fault them he had the best time. Again with the arcades the little one enjoyed having a go on the various arcade games hes a little young to fully understand but he enjoyed himself.
Sky Park - we only went once and we found it really wasnt suitable for our 5 year old there were a lot of older children and the slides were too big for him so we didnt stop there long.
Playparks - our 5 year old enjoyed time at the playground at the beachcomber but he really enjoyed the one on the lodge site it was a little quieter and was more suitable for his age.
Overall we had a lovely holiday only let down by a few things and 1 staff member as expected it is very much geared up for the children and our 5 year old had the best time would we go again? Perhaps if the mattresses were sorted out in the lodges we would but unfortunately when you are running around all day after a very excited child you need to be able to get some sleep!
Terrible accommodation
Terrible accommodation, Oyster Bay. lounge carpet stank of urine it was filthy.Someone apparently came to clean it at 8pm but no smell of chemicals being used it was damp so reckon they just sprayed it with water.
Bathroom door wouldn’t shut, glass on kitchen worktop, tomato ketchup on table walls and chairs. Bedrooms stank of damp. We never felt clean the whole time we were there.
No towels . Around the site glasses left from the night before, didn’t see one site cleaner all weekend.
We did manage to have a good time though, but would not go back.
stressful, Awful, uncleaned accommodation, restless nights
Stayed Bognor regis for 4 days. Accommodation was not cleaned. Bathroom smelled, stained and hairs on the floor and toilet smelled. Anyone walking on corridor of accommodation feels like stamping, particularly at night. Mattresses are outdated and springs digging the back. Restless nights. Room was not vacuummed. Contacted guest services three times to resolve the issue. Purchased tokens to book activities but never available to use. Phone the customer services and visited their playXperience desk few times but no resolution till date. Ended up spending double money to book activities. emailed them too. No definitive answers from any Butlins staffs, all are interested in passing the parcel so they don't have to deal with it. Very stressful and tiring experience overall.

I have been here at Bulins Skegness for half a day and already miss my home.
I booked Gold apartments and was allocated Neptune apartments.
The place looks built 200 years ago and never maintained.
I cannot imagine a resort can be so filthy.
The balcony are dirty, carpets never cleaned, spider webs and mould everywhere (I have added some pictures), toilets with yellow stains, bathrooms with non functional locks and no hot water.
It's like a nightmare come true.
And not like its cheap. They have charged me a fortune for this.
So room changes as Maintenance says other rooms are worse!!
WiFi doesn't work.
They try and sit on the problems for a day so that you forget about them.

When we finally got into our accommodation the first thing to hit me was the state of the windows, in a word filthy, then we delved a little deeper, there was a towel airer in the bathroom (electric) supposedly chrome plated, there was more rust than chrome and finally no fridge, there's no-one on site to complain to so out came the phone, now then, they immediately came with a new towel rail and fitted that, the windows were spotless after what must have taken all of 10 minutes, then they dumped a fridge by the window and left it, no they didn't even plug it in, now I'm really not a moaning old git but I am disabled in an electrically powered wheelchair with minimum mobility, the whole place had 4 plug sockets.
I stayed here (in the same accommodation) just 2 years ago where we had a most enjoyable stay with no complaints at all, huw can so much go so wrong in such a short time. The first evening I ate no food because of the way I felt. Butlins, you really do need to get your act together, I noticed you had a few "good" reviews but it was so sad to see so many bad ones, I will say thank you to the guy who arranged to have the "immediate" problems sorted but the one who "dumped" the fridge in the middle of the room "thanks".
Disgusting
Absolutely appalled by the conditions we experienced at Butlin’s.
We stayed at 20 Barracuda, and the accommodation was filthy, neglected, and infested with pests. Yes — actual mice. We complained immediately to the on-site maintenance man who was working directly opposite our apartment. We were not moved. No one followed up. We were left to sleep in unhygienic conditions with rodents scurrying under the bed.
After returning home, I submitted a formal complaint with photographic evidence. Butlin’s replied to say they do not dispute our experience, but they refuse to offer any refund because we didn’t use their formal internal complaints process while on site. So basically: if you don’t chase down the correct manager and fill in the right paperwork on your holiday, they wash their hands of all responsibility — even if you’ve been bitten, exposed to pests, or left in unsafe conditions.
Avoid this place if you value basic hygiene, safety, or customer service. I’ll be pursuing this further through my credit card provider and have already raised this with environmental health. The public deserves better — and so do paying families.

Very unsupportive and do not return any money of £30 . Said I had to pay again for a new slot . Pathetic Can not even reschedule slots for activities . Not recommended. Only good for little children. The big ones didn't enjoy .fridge or freezer in the room didn't work everything was expired . Cigarette in the room extremely dirty dust everywhere . Blocked shower . No bathroom mat only 2 toilet rolls for a week no soap . Dirty cups and plates had to buy our own .rusted pots and pans was disgusting.
