Butlins Bognor Regis- July 2025

I am an ex-pat living in Canada, having been raised not to far from Bognor, I had a trip planned to visit family in the area and needed a base. Butlins (on the face of it) seemed like a great idea having two teens with me, the park and pool would give them some entertainment!

From the moment we 'booked in' it went down hill.
Having to gone to reception to be told tp go into the cafe next door, where two tables had been set up right in the way so the cafe is unusable!
Loose directions to find our place to stay.
Oyster Bay seems to be some of the older accommodation and it shows.!
Stepping into the room...the smell and flies!
Looked at the bathroom, beds and carpets...walked back to reception to be told to talk to the people who booked us in.
Who told us to call a number for guest services...the bedding had either blood or poo (or both) and had clearly not been changed since the last guests.

House keeping came in and did a clean...I will say that the staff are fighting an uphill battle...these rooms need to be condemned!

Butlins will NOT deal with requests for a refund (policy!)
There are no towels just a shower mat type, two loo rolls and a hotel size hand soap, which I used to clean the loo and sink before we could use them!!

At around 11pm the 'neighbours' started arguing/fighting...and again at 5am...by the third night another guest had found a way of getting hold of security which Butlins DO NOT make clear.
A second neighbour starting on each other...so by midnight I'm calling security...this area had a number of young families, the domestic violence was distressing for those who could hear it ALL!

Throw in the mix drunks trying the door handles in the night, incessant Seagull noise, another family being moved late at night due to an ant invasion...black mold in the shower, broken toilet, thin walls where you can hear a conversation and staff who looked stressed, stretched and p'd off...the place was strewn with empty glasses and rubbish.

We joked that one glass, containing either beer or urine ( wasn't going near that!) had been there for 3 days...add's to the Biohazard this place is.

The grounds are poorly kept, weeds, more rubbish and cigarette ends thrown around.

Glad to say we refused to eat onsite and could not wait to escape.
All in all, a dangerous/unsafe place to be.

With the amount of competition for peoples money Butlin's need to up their game 100-fold.

This was in the week when a new report says that Bognor Regis is the worst town in the UK!

The HO corporate bod's need to do more regular visits to justify there wage...or better still the CEO needs to get his hands dirty and work onsite for a month!!
Not rely on the brown nosing suck-ups that say all is good on these sites...things are worse than you know!!

We came home after one night

We came home after one night, the comfort apartment was filthy, stains everywhere, dirty walls and smelled of stale milk. We used to come to butlins every year but it as gone down hill massively. We won't be returning

As regular visitors to Butlins

As regular visitors to Butlins for over 25 years, we booked a week in May advertised as an entertainment week. After making the final payment, we were notified that this week had now changed to a tots week. As 2 adults we did not want that, Butlins said that we could change the week, but when we tried to do that, they demanded a £50 amandment fee, which was unfair as it was they who changed the weeks entertainment. We refused to pay so went on the week we had booked. We complained but it did no good. We compained again on arrival and when we returned home, but all to no avail. The entertainment consisted of just one evening show, the same show every night for 3 nights, they even took our payments for VIP passes which were not needed. After receiving lots of excuses and having some messages ignored, l wrote to the CEO, this letter was also totally ignored, so after 25 loyal years, we have decided not to go there ever again. If the CEO ignores your complaints then it is no wonder the rest of the staff do also. Quite disgraceful customer service. We noticed that the standard of food had gone down quite considerably too, despite the high charges for it. The only good thing was the weather, it was very hot and sunny. I notice a very poor response to any of their reviews, and that itsels speaks volumes.

Absolutely filthy accommodation felt…

Absolutely filthy accommodation felt like I needed a good scrub when I got home! Not good when you have a child that needs a really sterile environment because he has a condition! Now on antibiotics because how filthy the place was! Staff rude in the all you can eat buffet! Food was ok not the best.. we came home early due to not enjoying as much as we used to such a shame he place has gone down massively! We will never come back again

Accommodation does not offer what has been paid for

Currently on-site in Minehead. The television and oven don't work in our accommodation. Offered £20 "goodwill" gesture which i declined but was subsequently credited anyway.

It is not "goodwill" to offer a pitiful amount for something that I have paid for. £20 for five people over three days equates to £1.33 per person per day, there is literally nothing on site that can be bought for that price. I spoke with Chloe, who was quite helpful to begin with but, in the end, it's frankly embarrassing for her to offer that amount with a straight face. It's no better than the scammers who phone you pretending to be from the bank.

I was a little surprised how dated the site looked when I arrived but thought it would be ok but not only does it look like the 70s, it feels like the 70s with the lack of such basic amenities.

I booked using my Blue Light Card. If this is how they treat people they're meant to be supporting then I dread to imagine how they treat other customers.

Was very disappointed this time round

Was very disappointed this time round. We were placed in one of the two restaurants at Bognor - turned out the smaller. When we tried to move as no live stations as promised on plan and omelette station closed 2 days in a row, we were told we were allocated one, and that hotel guests were given the more lavish one. On last day - all attractions that are free were closed, and so nothing to do - kids were really disappointed. What's worse is i left feedback, and Zoe from customer relations was very unhelpful stating the guidance of attractions can be closed at their discretion, but unable to after asking twice tell me why they were closed. She also told me i should have resolved issues with guest relations whilst their, and there was nothing more now they were willing to do, let alone apologises and explain why any of this happened. Really poor

Disgraceful Butlins

Myself and 4 lads booked an adult only stay at bognor Regis butlins we payed over £900 on a 3 bed comfort room the photos looked good that was until we arrived !!! We opened the door to find an overwhelming smell of old urine. This was on the hallway carpet and the double bedroom the carpets were full of stains dust and dirt. The back of the bathroom door had human feces wiped down it the bedroom with the urine smell in had a stain that looked like a few days old feces on the carpet. The shower pipe was split and the head boards of one of the beds was falling apart.

As we arrive late I did not want to miss the entertainment we paid for. We went to deal with this the next morning shockingly there was no reception on resort only in the play experience building that opened after 11 o’clock we called guest services and two hours later, they sent a cleaner to the room. She was disgusted And said that we should not have been putting that room in that condition and that it was human feces on the floor. She did her best but only sprayed eliminator on the floor instead of carpet cleaning the shower was fixed but the stain still reminded and the carpet not hoovered. The overwhelming smell of urine meant I had to sleep in a single bed in another room with one other person.

I have since contacted buttons. They’ve offered me no compensation only a discounted booking that anyone can get returned to Butlins this is shocking and the worst thing of it all these are also family rooms stay clear do not put your family or friends through this.

First holiday in a long time with my 2…

First holiday in a long time with my 2 boys.
Both are on the spectrum.
The bedding was disgusting!
Pee stains all over it.
My boy was crying and didn't want to sleep there.
We didn't sleep all night.
I phoned straight away in the morning, and was told I would be contacted asap. 3 hours later I phoned again to then be told someone will be with me at the apartment. This was another hour. She was very abrupt and quite rude!
Said she'll get bedding for us. She didn't care that my boys were upset hadn't slept all night, and waited nearly half a day for someone to sort this out.
I said we're not sleeping in this filthy apartment again.
She said there is no where else as it's full.
I explained another member of staff said we could move to a better apartment. She went away again. Then phoned and said yes there is another apartment and will be down with the keys. Another hour again passed. We went on a Friday to Monday, 2 days already wasted.
I have filed a complaint about this, but they don't seem to care about their customers.
I want some kind of compensation for all the upset and loss of quality holiday time with my children.
All they care about is getting your money and not customer service.

It was disappointing to hear that you had concerns with the linen provided, during your stay. Our team work hard to ensure all is as expected upon arrival and have been provided with additional training and coaching to ensure that each and every accommodation is cleaned thoroughly prior to a guests arrival. Your feedback has been provided to the Head of Housekeeping to address.

Our team work by a 'solve on site' policy and if they are made aware of any concerns they will always do their best to resolve these. Our Guest Services team can be contacted via phone/live chat and are available until 9pm on arrival day and 5pm all other days with our Resort Safety teams taking any out of hours calls. They would have arranged a re-clean or potential move to another accommodation.

We hope this stay has not deterred you from visiting again in the future. If you choose to re-book in the future, please get in touch with myself directly and I can ensure the Head of Housekeeping oversees your unit, including the bedding, to ensure in pristine condition for your family.

I had a weekend at Minehead beware

I had a weekend at Minehead with the family,first problem was the very long walk from the car park to the accommodation not ideal if you have heavy stuff to carry.The accommodation Comfort Plus was clean but very tired with broken shower door & shower head,TV remote had no batteries or cover and stains on carpet & furniture.there was long queues for food & drinks and the very strong smell of people smoking cannabis everywere.The only good point was there was no dogs.But we enjoyed being with the family for the weekend with the hot weather but never again.

Sadly not good!!!

I went to Butlins as a child with my parents and It was great. I returned this weekend with my grown up children and my grandchildren and "Butlins" was one complete let down. Firstly we arrived, told to park our cars in the car park given a map and then left to find our accommodation. Having very small grandchildren, so having brought cots, suitcases, bags etc...and being told by the staff there were no trolleys available and given different directions by staff, we struggled to find and get to our
accommodation which was a good
800metres plus. The comfort apartments
were ok ish, very tired looking, stains on
sofas, carpets, tables, pieces of wood
broken off of the furniture etc..
Queues for everything, not nearly enough staff, a constant smell of weed everywhere !!!! Then finally staff were outside our apartments at 9.15am on our last day, waiting to get in, even though we had until 10am to leave our accommodation, causing us a lot of stress. They left clean bedding in the hallway on the floor, making it impossible to get the pram/pushchair, suitcases past when we left. Would I go back, sadly no I would not, which is a shame because many years ago it was a good family holiday.

Having sleep apnea needing a plug next to the bed and not having one asking for an extension cord and the staff saying that they are a fire hazard
But it's 32° we could hire a fan so we asked for a room change on Friday and the staff said no and try Monday so we did and we rang at 9am and had to wait for a call back so after getting to 6pm and still no call rang back for them to say sorry we can change room so we had to go out and get an extension just so I wouldn't die in the night and don't bother with the food package unless you are 10 years old

I'm going to be very specific here, the 'All inclusive drinks package' at Butlins is a complete con. Unless you are a raging alcoholic (although drinks choice is limited) it's significantly cheaper to buy per drink. However that isn't my main gripe. Initially there was a separate que for serving drinks in the All inclusive package which made the expense more acceptable, however this was withdrawn on day three meaning a 25min! Que for a drink, oh, by the way they also ran out of some choices on the All inclusive too. I really do believe that Butlins are operating a boarder line con. Get you to pay up front then making it as awkward as possible to get served.

Statement Regarding Racial Profiling Incident at Butlins Skegness

I am writing to formally report a distressing incident of racial profiling that my family and I experienced at the Sky Park in Butlins Skegness on [ Wednesday 9th July]. During our visit, we were subjected to racial slurs, specifically the term "p****” which caused significant distress and offense.

This behavior is completely unacceptable and goes against the principles of respect and inclusivity that should be upheld in any public space, especially one catering to families. We believe this incident constitutes a clear act of racial profiling and discrimination.

We are deeply concerned about the impact this incident has had on our family, and we urge Butlins Skegness to take this matter seriously. We request a thorough investigation into this incident and appropriate action taken against those responsible to ensure that no other family has to endure such a degrading experience.

After going to Butlins as a child and…

After going to Butlins as a child and taking my children I had fond memories and finally managed to take my Grandchildren last Friday. Looked forward to it for months but wish I hadn't bothered it has destroyed my memories. I booked every extra and asked for a chalet to drive in my mobility scooter close to the entertainment and was told it was no problem. I was given a room with two steps. My daughter managed to get it changed to one step and was told customer services would arrange a suitable room on the Saturday and call me (they didn't). The lift to the main entertainment area wasn't working neither Saturday or Sunday so I couldn't get to watch the show with my family after paying for the passes to get in 15 minutes early. The evening meal on Saturday was disgusting and for Sunday we decided to eat in Papa Johns as it was listed as a venue included in our package. We checked to make sure it was included but told it was closed due to technical problems so we paid to eat fish and chips and gave the buffet a miss. I'm going to take them away again in the school holidays but it certainly won't be to Butlins.

BUN BUTLINS !!!!!!!!!

First of all we tried to keep it as clean as possible but was difficult as there’s not a single thing to clean with, no cloths, no dish soap, not even a tea towel I cleaned the side with one of my socks, feel like I’ve been living in the slums. The pots and pans are growing a new life form, had 1 fork and 2 spoons. The fridge is warm basically cooked the food in there, but the freezer was so cold froze all my alcohol, sort it out man.There’s no plug sockets anywhere if you want to charge your phone have to go sit on the floor, I know it seems minor but has put me in a rotten mood all weekend. On website is says “towels included” hope you don’t mean the tiny hand towel, the shower was absolutely shocking could just about fit which isn’t a massive problem but the door didn’t close so flooded the bathroom then attempted to cleaned it up with the towel, tried to call customer service to ask for another towel but no one answered the multiple times I called. Theres nothing on the website to help the staff are no help don’t know a single thing and are just plain rude, get a new job if you really hate your job that bad you miserable people. All info is wrong would tell you things are open or going on but would be closed. Surely Butlin’s is a multi million pound resort, I just think we could splash out on a bit of cleaning spray ???? Or maybe a bit more toilet roll got 3 rolls went through it in a day definitely a blokes doing. I’m not the type to write a review every but just so fuming and had to let someone know how passionate I am about my hatred for butlins, I’m only 19 come for a fun weekend with my friends just spent my time fuming because I wanna chin ur staff. Met 2 helpful security guards give them a raise. I have never in my life been possessed to write a review but really needed to get it of my chest. Spoke to the neighbours and they had the exact same experience weren’t happy at all. Everything cost an arm and a leg if I wanted to spend loads of money would of gone abroad your butlins not Disney, would have generally spent less money booking a flight. If someone knocked the door a bit harder than the average person the door would of fallen of its hinges, I could of opened it without the keycard.

Dirty, dark and unwelcoming.

Dirty, rundown place. Rusty, dusty and not well maintained. Staff are confused, attitude problems, not any smiling and the 'dine around' package leaves both customers and staff confused as to which restaurants it includes and what items it includes. Fun fair is old and half the rides closed, so massive queues for the rides that were open, which are awful and rusty. Ride attendants looking miserable.
I spent £500 on a weekend that I want to forget. We came home 24 hours early, just to get back home where it's clean. Disgusting place and never returning again.
Skegness is better run, but accom needs sorting out. Minehead is rotten to the core though and would avoid.
This visit came after my complaint about the poor accommodation at Skegness. This was worse.

Far to many visitors for the…

Far to many visitors for the attractions and restaurants on site, butlins now promote their drinks packages but they don't advertise they often only have on member of staff serving so being able to get served takes the best part of 30 minutes now, have enjoyed butlins previously but this is our last visit
