Save yourself the stress and avoid CGT Lettings at all costs. Their professionalism is non-existent, and their handling of personal data is a total farce.

They choose to partner with third-party service providers like The Lettings Hub, who passed my personal information to unauthorized third parties without permission. On top of that, I was sent inaccurate tenancy updates regarding utility notifications, and draft contract documents were sent password-protected with no password provided to open them.

When I raised these serious data protection and operational failures, CGT’s handling of the complaint was laughable. The issue was passed around between three different staff members, up to their Managing Director, who promised to call me directly to resolve the matter and then simply failed to do so. Instead of addressing their failures or showing any accountability, CGT expected me to just "wipe the slate clean."

To landlords considering using CGT:

Do not trust this agency with your properties or your reputation. Because of CGT’s incompetence, data mishandling, and total failure to resolve basic issues, they have driven away a reliable, paying tenant—leaving my landlord with an unnecessary void period and re-letting costs. CGT’s poor standards directly risk your rental income and leave you exposed to public regulatory complaints. Manage your property elsewhere or use an agency that actually respects privacy laws and basic customer service.

I am ending my tenancy and will never deal with CGT Lettings again. If you value your personal privacy, your time, and basic professional standards, look elsewhere.

My tenant reported a leak on Friday at 16.15 and despite being open until 17.00 there was no answer and no response.
I rang again on Monday morning and left a further 2 messages at 9.15am and 9.37am as again telephone not answered and no call back

Avoid at all costs

This agency, particularly Gloucester office, only cares about tenants holding up their end of the agreement, they don’t hold up theirs. They kept moving the goalposts throughout the referencing process.

The worst part: we moved into the flat with our one-month-old baby and had no hot water from day one. We had to boil kettles for weeks just to wash and bathe our baby, and our electricity bill for that first month came to nearly £400 as a result. Despite this being a genuine emergency with a newborn in the house, they treated it with total indifference. Calls go unanswered and emails are ignored or take days to get a reply.

Staff were very rude and wasn’t bothered at all.
They even tried to rip me off when it was time to refund my deposit. It’s such a shame.

They simply don’t care about tenants once the contract is signed. Would not recommend to anyone, especially families with young children.

Nightmare, please avoid if you are trying to let a property.
Ok chronological order
1. Refund of deposit to tenant February was told by Joe that it was my responsibility to arrange. Spent 1.5 hours trying to log on to TDS system can't phone them so phoned up CGT was given a number by Joe phoned up only to be told that the account is CGT. So requested they arranged it.
2. Requested contract on 22 April was asked if I wanted to use CGT chased insurance was given monthly quote I asked if I could pay annually. Joe said that he would check and get back to me on Monday I had not had a response so I took my own out. Phoned up asked about the contract told that it would be prepared. Finally received the contract at 17.06 on Tuesday 28 April could not open it on my phone. Got the contract at 17.25, read it and found errors so could not sign. Sent email explaining issues at 18.14. Received amended document at 10.29 29 April. Went into office, signed contract.
3. Random people entered my flat without my prior knowledge.
4. Checks were carried out I have not seen any documents or reports.
5. When in the office I was told that accounts had to be settled before tenants had keys released. I had not received any prior warning of this I was also told that I could settle by credit card. I could not settle the account in the office as I didn't have a card reader with me. So had to return home.
6. At no time was I offered any appology from the Lettings team.
7. Communication throughout has been appalling.

Hannah took the time to answer all of our questions clearly and made the viewing feel relaxed and well-organised. She was honest, approachable, and never rushed us, which we really appreciated. This company are a total disgrace! They lie, they give false information and they will do all they can to be deceitful and take your money. Do not do business with this company unless you are prepared to be completely ripped off and lose money

This is last company I would entrust my property to as a landlord.
The guy they’ve moved in two doors down from me lives in squalor, and his filth trickles into other peoples property. What have CGT done with the complaints? NOTHING! I feel sorry for the property owner that’s going to get god knows what back when he leaves.

We were desperately trying to find a place to live in Stroud and we came across this fantastic property with an unbelievable realtor called Hannah Roberts who was absolutely superb. The entire way made it extremely speedy was kind understanding and extremely helpful the entire process I would not be able to recommend a better person to go with when trying to find yourself a property. If I had to do the whole thing again, I would’ve just tried to find Hannah from the very start!

Me and my partner have finally closed the gap in our long distance relationship by renting a property together and CGT have helped us massively with what was always destined to be a challenging move.
Our agent at CGT was Saffron and she was kind, understanding and flexible with viewings and always kept us up to date. We had a bit of a rollercoaster ride with Lettingshub but Saffron was there to advise and update us, aswell as contacting them to help sort through any issues we were having with the portal and helping to speed the process up.
While we don't plan on moving for some time now, we know that we would happily be dealing with Saffron and the team again!
