Company who don't want you to know what ingredients they really use!
One wonders what they have got to hide? I have purchased this product several times and thought the formula seemed quite good. However, I noticed that vitamin B9 is listed as "Folate (as folic acid and (6S)-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate, glucosamine salt)". This bothered me as I know that Folic Acid is actually bad for you and has been linked to cognitive decline and cancer. This is not the case with (6S)-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate.
I therefore contacted the company to ask what percentage of the B9 in this product is the dangerous folic acid, and what percentage is the beneficial (6S)-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate. This is the reply I got:
"While we appreciate your interest in our Coenzyme B Complex Advanced, the exact percentages and amounts of the ingredients in the formula are proprietary and we cannot release this information. We can tell you the ingredients are listed in descending order by weight."
I live in the UK and I think such practices would be illegal here. It is fairly obvious that they have something to hide, or they would have given me a straight answer. I assume that most of the product is folic acid and there could just be a token grain of (6S)-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate to fool you into thinking it's safe.
I am appalled.
