Friendly efficient, communicate well

Our installation was a long time in the planning for a couple of reasons. Firstly we are in a national park so there were restrictions on how we could set up. Secondly, we regularly came back to James at Dartmoor Energy with questions and clarifications. During all this time he was patient, responsive and knowledgeable. The resulting installation, solar array, air source heat pump and radiators was first class. It works exactly how James said it would; keeping the house comfortably warm with constant hot water. In the two weeks it’s been in, we’ve been completely energy self sufficient. We would recommend Dartmoor Energy and James in particular , without reservation.

They have responded quickly to my enquiries and have provided much needed expect advice on the best way forward to make my home more energy efficient using renewable energy sources. The provision of solar panels was a surprisingly pleasant experience from start to finish. Everybody I met or spoke to from Dartmoor Energy was polite, knowledgeable, helpful and proactive. And, non-judgemental.
Communication was easy and responsive. The installation of the solar panels and inverter was swift, and Jordan was non-invasive, polite, knowledgeable and tidy in his work.
All in all, this was a perfect example of positive interaction with service recipients.

Dartmoor energy did an accurate Heat Loss survey and calculated that we could have a heat pump with micro bore pipes if we replaced two radiators. Also we only needed a 5 kW heat pump not 7 kW which had previously been recommended

I really don’t like leaving negative reviews but I was let down by this company and given there is so much hype at the moment about energy company scams I thought it was important to warn others especially as it’s often older folks like me who get lead on.

Be wary when using this company. I was badly let down after having a survey down by Mark Watling - the Head of Retrofit Assessments- in March 2025 who visited on two occasions, did all the paperwork and reassured me that I was an ideal candidate for a retrofit of a heat pump and solar panels with a full grant due to my health conditions and age (62). He checked my cavity walls and again reassured me that everything was in order. I waited and waited, he kept reassuring me that everything was fine and the funders were slow. Then 6 months later I have just been told he’s left the company and that I was NEVER a candidate for the grant as my property has cavity walls which their head assessor knew and actually checked! I’ve been strung along all this time and all I got from his replacement Max Roper, the Retro Fit Director, was an off hand apology in an email telling me Mark Watling had left the company.

I was initially reassured by the reviews on Google and the apparent award winning credentials of this company but sadly I was duped. Fortunately I wasn’t left out of pocket but I have wasted months (I contacted them in the Spring so it would be done by the winter) when I could have been looking for other alternatives and now there is little time before the winter sets in.

So be wary and do your homework and don’t trust this company too easily. If you are reading this I hope you have a better experience than me.
