Went for £24 MOT and was told there was over £800 of work needed on my car. I felt there was something fishy going when he said come onto the office and we can talk about the condition of your car. I asked him to print out the work. I took the car to an RAC approved garage and was told there was nothing wrong with my car, except the rear brake could be cleaned out and hand brake could do with adjustment, but not urgent.

This is a scam place.
£24 MOT is not an offer but a long-running business strategy.
I've read reviews and decided to give them a try with the benefit of a doubt but this was a classic scam. It is cheap to get many MOT customers who are then presented with failures that require fixing of your MOT is failed.
Well, when I was told about roll bars that could do with replacement but not urgent, I kept listening. When I was told that both of my rear brake pads needed replacement and a FAIL at them moment, I say stop and I'll be collecting my vehicle 'failed'. Upon my arrival I was confronted for not having listened them to the end and that it was not a big job anyway... I paid my £24, took my failed MOT certificate and went away. What was particularly interesting is that my failure certificate not even mentioned brakes but singled out bushings in my anti-roll bars. Actually in one of them but twice...
Today, I had another MOT test at KwikFit. Yes, it was a pass. I then had a chat about the brake pads and anti-roll bushings. I was told that I have plenty of brake padding milage to go and that none of my anti-roll bushings are split. I was further more demonstrated that on the spot.
So, was that an attempted scam from Dee Bee? I think it was.
Why did they change the failure from brake pads to bushings? Well, because with bushings it was a 'subjective' opinion but brake pads have set limits and it is 'objective' either worn or not. They didn't want to give me a certificate which I could use in court but they also had to justify the MOT failure somehow...
