Jon did an incredibly detailed survey of a mid-terrace victorian property for us and then walked us through the results on a 3 hour debrief call. I have never known a property so intimately before. Jon was friendly and supportive throughtout, making sure that we understood all of the information we were being given. I would strongly recommend Jon to anyone else who needs a survey of their property. The advice was all detailed but pragmatic which was exactly what we needed.

I can't imagine a way this process could be better. We feel like every question we had was answered (and many more questions that we wouldn't have thought of). Jon is worth the wait and is a master at what he does. I love the details he provided and would recommend him to anyone

Jon from Domestic Surveys was nothing short of brilliant. This is someone who is doing the job due to passion for helping people truly understand their homes. He's funny, super helpful, was considerate of our circumstances (not tons of money for repairs) and offered really helpful practical advice for our situation.

So many friends label surveyors as a wasted cost, with reports that don't make sense.

Meanwhile Jon provided the most comprehensive and easy to understand report on everything. And even spent a couple hours on a google video call, going through said report.

As a FTB this has been the gold standard of surveyor experiences. I literally have no reason to go with anyone other than Domestic Surveys for future buys.

The best survey experience possible! Jon was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough with our property and provided a detailed aspect on all parts of it. We then had a long session to go through it all with him and ask any questions. He provided quotes for how much the work would cost for us to fix. Can't recommend strongly enough!

We found Domestic Surveys online when looking for a level 3 survey and we couldn’t be more grateful for the service they provided. In the end we unfortunately withdrew from our purchase because the survey was so thorough and showed so many issues, that would have compounded into costs of approx £100k. It helped us make the decision that was right for us. Martin was super organized in arranging the survey and Jon is so passionate about what he does. The online call where he breaks down the findings is fun and invaluable because surveys are overwhelming to read. Thank you guys! You’ve gone above and beyond! Can’t recommend enough!

Responsive, Friendly, Thorough, Value for Money — I’d use exactly the same words as the previous reviewers.
Like others have mentioned, Jon’s report was incredibly thorough and the follow-up meeting to walk through every detail was a real highlight. Ours ran well beyond the scheduled time with no complaints — Jon clearly loves what he does and that passion shines through. He has a brilliant ability to break down building jargon into plain, understandable language, which as a non-expert I really appreciated.
The team are always happy to jump on the phone and answer questions, and I’ve learned a shocking amount about roofs and damp along the way — information I’ll be taking into every future viewing!
The report itself was outstanding — packed with photos, detailed diagrams and thorough explanations of complex terms. So often these reports feel like a copy and paste job designed to cover their own backs. This was nothing of the sort. It felt honest, experienced and specific to our property. Having spent over 4 hours on site, that level of care and detail really showed. On top of that, Jon follows everything up with a complete folder of all the investigation details — a thoughtful and very useful touch.

Even though my house purchase fell through, dealing with the guys at domestic surveys throughout the process was a not only the most worthwhile expense but also thoroughly enjoyable. They are always willing to jump on the phone to answer questions, I've learned a shocking amount about roofs and damp recently, information that I hope to use in my future viewings.

The report itself was of very high quality, almost 100 pages, none of which was not worth reading. The final meeting to go over the report was also very useful, even though Id already passed on the house it was used to educate me on what to be on the lookout for next time so again well worth the time/effort.

Price-wise, wasn't as high as I expected, again great value for money.

This is the second survey I've had done in the last 12 months and once again they have been excellent. I would highly recommend Domestic Surveys, in particular Jon, to anyone who needs to have a survey completed on a property.

Lee's report was very detailed and thorough. The debrief call afterwards was helpful and Lee responded promptly to a query afterwards. Ultimately, Lee's survey and feedback helped me successfully argue a reduction in the price to reflect a major repair he identified.

Incredibly thorough! Jon spent over 4 hours doing the survey and nearly 4 hours explaining it to us in a Zoom call!! He was also an engaging expert! Gave us advice on how to proceed with obtaining quotes for essential work on the property we are hoping to buy. Would recommend as highly as is possible!

I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the survey report. It was highly detailed but also well worded and understandable to the layman. Jon left no stone unturned in surveying the house. The house I had surveyed was Laing easiform, and Jon was clearly extremely knowledgeable and it was well worth going with him over other surveyors. The follow up call after the report was also very good, and Jon clearly talked through the report and answered any questions I had.
Both Jon and Martin were very friendly and approachable as well. I would definitely go with Domestic Surveys again.

Jon has just conducted a second survey for me after I had to pull out of a previous purchase (see review below). With his knowledge I was empowered to make a much more informed decision about the type of property that would meet my needs. Jon from Domestic Surveys has a wealth of knowledge about homes, history, and handiwork. I felt extremely knowledgeable about the condition of my home and what works would be required to mitigate costly issues if left undone. I have used Domestic Surveys to survey two house, after I pulled out of the first due to significant structural issues. I am incredibly grateful to Jon for recognising these problems and saving me a lot of money and stress in the future, but also conveying this information kindly, recognising that I had been excited to purchase my first house. Jon also provided helpful advice on what to look out for when searching for another property.
In addition to providing a written report, Jon also offers a 2 hour zoom meeting to discuss the findings which is an incredibly valuable opportunity. Jon is happy to take the time to explain the findings, identify which issues are urgent and answer questions. Jon has great experience as a surveyor and has previously worked as a builder so is able to provide practical guidance.
Martin has been very helpful arranging the survey and always responded promptly to emails. Domestic Surveys are understandably popular, so it is worth getting your slot booked early.

We used Domestic Surveys when we purchased our house. The whole process from start to finish was exceptional. Communication was great, the report was so detailed and precise. Any issues were clearly highlighted and easy to spot. Gary was very professional and made us feel at ease about the whole thing. Domestic Surveys made a thorough level III inspection of a Victorian property that we are hoping to purchase. What we received was an in-depth and expertly crafted report that will not only help us in feeling well informed going into this purchase but also serves as a comprehensive fix-it list for our future tenure in the house. After giving us a few days to digest the 87 page document we then had a call, which lasted several hours, where Jon went through the survey, page by page, providing additional information, context, photos, and answering any questions we had. We have heard that this follow-up call is not something that every surveyor provides and, as first time buyers, we were very appreciative that he took the extra care to make sure we knew what we were taking on. Further, the team at Domestic Surveys have been willing to answer the odd question over email or on the phone as we progress with the purchase. Would 100% recommend. Book in advance - Domestic Surveys are busy!

I sought the services of Domestic Surveys after being unimpressed with a previous company I had gone through for another property - by contrast I paid the same amount for both services but with Domestic Surveys I got a lot more than just a very basic un-detailed 40 page report.

-We were allowed to come to the property while the survey was taking place and Jon was not only incredibly personable and easy to talk to but very knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed his work and helping clients. (the last company we went through did not allow us to be onsite during the survey)

-When Jon was unsatisfied with the findings from his endoscope on the roof he went back to the property for a short visit to do a more thorough check to ensure we knew what we were dealing with, he offered to do this without us having asked him to and it did not cost us any extra in the service. Jon went above and beyond for us and we're very glad for it.
(Jon discovered that "our" roof had been lined with an extremely rare unorthodox type of felt called "Anderson Sartec" - we were incredibly fortunate that Jon himself had seen this product twice before over the course of a few decades and recognised it)

-We got a 2 hour zoom call to go through the full 90-ish page report for us where he answered all our questions and more - which provided us with confidence about how to take care of this historic property and deal with the problems he found (we got no follow up call with the previous company we used. only a 40 page report.)

-GADGETS! one of the main reasons I chose Domestic Surveys was that their website noted the use of specialist equipment to ensure a thorough and detailed overview of the property, we were not only provided with the written report at the end of the service, but also photos of various bits of equipment in use (we got absolutely no images in our last report)

-Jon told us that if we had any more questions further down the line about certain problems that were found then he would be more than happy for us to contact him again with any questions

I wouldn't go to anyone else for survey investigations after having been spoiled by the services provided by Domestic Surveys, and especially Jon. I would give 6 stars if I could!

Reading other reviews and testimonials does a very good job of painting a picture of the incredible support, service, and depth of information that you'll get when you get your survey report back from Domestic Survey - and subsequently review the entirety of that report on a call with your surveyor.

Martin was easy to work with, quick to communicate and get us the details we needed. Jon's knowledge and ability to explain the nuance of the details of what he found in the survey was astounding. We asked him so many questions and he was able to provide practical answers that left us feeling like we really understood the condition of the house very well, and had a rough idea for the cost to remedy the various issues identified.

Every single review you'll read will highly recommend Domestic Surveys, I'm certain of that and I will join the chorus.

It is worth the wait. It is worth the cost. You will feel like you really understand the property and the details and any issues identified following the survey.
