Tried to find out if you could cancel your account and stop payments and the company makes it extraordinarily hard to find this detail. I signed up but after less than 2 days realised the site also did not meet my expectations (no town info is one area). I finally got an email saying I could quit, but they would still take over %40 from me! I argued about the cooling off period but they said that's only for US customers (why is this?) I asked to speak to a supervisor who had no interested in a compromise and told me that the case was closed and they would not discuss it further. Steer very clear of these unethical people.

Impossible to set up an account. Once created you cannot do anything without full membership. ZERO information on how to close or delete your account. ZERO response from the helpdesk. I would be safer walking past the pub at 3am on Saturday night, than using this site, with no clarity, and no access.

Firstly, there were a very limited amount of compatible people in the town where I live.
Secondly, I got caught by the automatic renewal for a YEAR'S SUBSCRIPTION!!! They are trying to charge me $478 in one payment, even though I deactivated my profile 5 months ago.

They do not even deserve one star! Do not subscribe to them. It is impossible to cancel. You email support and they don’t get back to you. If in Australia you can only phone in pacific time. Biggest rip off ever! They just charged me over $300 for a service I thought I’d cancelled 11 months ago. Because I paid by PayPal it was considered a subscription but not one I knew about. So bloody angry right now!!

Dont trust the fancy ads its scam site also under ACCC court action against eHarmony for alleged misleading online dating membership statements.

this is what customer support said after tried to cancel after finding out they billed me for more then what was agreed.

Upon reviewing your account, I see that you purchased a 12-month membership on 12/28/2023 (MM/DD/YYYY) to be billed in a monthly payments. The total price was $448.85 which included a discount of 50% for 1 month.

also to note might be some normal people on the site quite lot are just bots or fake accounts. and odd few will ask for money or medical health problems.

Yes, I got sucked in and am slapping myself around the head.
Thought I was signing up for a month trial. Instead I am now locked into a one year contract for a total of $448, and they insist on payment.
Their profiles are hopeless. I was only offered about 30 profiles (women,) and all were between 500 - 5000 kms from my location. All of them were ten years older than me, none of them could be considered attractive, and over half of them had not logged into their accounts for months.
In desperation, and trying to get my money's worth, I contacted a couple, only to be ignored. No response whatsoever.
I tried to request a cancellation but was told I was liable for full payment.
I'm wondering if, through lack of customers, this company may be on it's last legs in Australia, and they are trying to scam as much money as possible before they go under.
I notice they are being investigated by ACCC.

What a terrible bunch these people are. Predatory, mercenary and horrendously poor at anything resembling customer service. After cancelling their godawful service a year ago they claim I owe them money and threaten me with debt collectors. Pathetic

Awful dating site. I cannot delete my account they have to and and I want to. They asked me to contact them again in a few months? They will also so see if not cancel my payments. They worded the email so badly made me feel awful.

Stay away! Do no join eharmomy they will not cancel your account if you decide you want to and they will trick you into a subscription that you cannot get out of. I have cancelled my payments via my bank. Thankfully the ACCC is taking them to Federal court (lodged sept 23) due to repeated complaints of the same.

Scammers incorporated Eunharmony, with a crap Min 6 Mth contract! This site is full of Overseas Scammers with Fake Females, which You have to constantly weed out, as they Don't! Their reputedly scientific algorithms used for matching, are Fake, False, and completely incompetent. They advertise constantly on the TV, because they have to get sucked-in clientele to join...Don't bother, look for a reputable Co, do Your Own homework on the Net, and don't get sucked in to find Love, and loose all Your hard-earned monies with these rip-off money orientated, Fake scammers!

I am leaving a review for a friend who has been scammed by this lot. After using a trial you end up signed into an annual contract and are pursued for the money even if you don't use the site! I would argue from what I have read the site is full of fake profiles and perverts anyway. The company are mercenaries with no compassion. Even dealing with vulnerable customers! They will hound you to pay your years subscription and close your account.

Bank has advised to not pay them, cancel all direct debits and ignore them.

Eharmony.. more like bad harmony.

If anyone uses this site after reading this then you are stupid.

With their minimum membership setting you back over $300 for their services over 6 months, and no monthly option - they can’t be that sure of their services. With no compassionate cancellations or ability to get out of this subscription, if you “find love fast” you’ll still be stuck paying for it well after you’ve wanted to quit the service. Would recommend you try options with cheaper options, as even with their scientific approach, the options are still what you want to look at.

This app will offer you free membership but then trick you by offering one month at half price but then you are mislead to sign up to a contract for 12 months. If the app was so good why would I need 12 months on a dating site. Contacted them and they said too bad!! Stay away

Many of the 'matches' are fake. Requesting a refund after 3 days realising this I was ignored and then had the withheld payments sent to a debt collector.

This company is incredibly dodgy and not at all genuine or honourable. Stay away from them and stick to other dating sites that are free and offer better and more genuine profiles.

This company is purely about making money!

If only I could give a ZERO star! I joined eHarmony on 4 June 2023 and wish I had checked reviews first.

My situation it seems, is like so many others, and I’m furious about the way they mislead & their outright deception regarding subscriptions.

I joined for a month at $14.99, which, when it went through became $17.99. Not sure why that happened.

I requested a cancellation two weeks later, which was still two weeks prior to the first month, finishing.

After a series of emails, I was finally told that a specialist had reviewed my situation and unfortunately could not cancel the subscription, therefore I would have to pay $30 per month until 4 July 2024.

I contacted my bank and they were unable to do anything to help me in this instance because I had paid through PayPal.

I contacted PayPal and explained the situation they cancelled the authority to take funds from my PayPal account and sent me an email confirming that.

My next option is to cancel my PayPal account and get a new credit card, I’m putting that off for the moment just to see what happens, maybe I won’t need to do either of those things?

I’ve now received yet another email from eHarmony telling me that I am contracted to them for a further 11 months. EHarmony said that I had indicated a 12 month subscription when I joined however I only joined up for one month.

I am positive that I indicated a single month, nothing else.

I’d say that they have a snowflakes chance in hell of getting another cent out of me!

How are they allowed to get away this?

I did read a review from back in 2021 (?) I think it was, that said a class action had been bought against eHarmony in some of states of America & that eharmony had to pay $1.2 million in reparation to subscribers and a $1 million fine.

This would be an ideal case here in Australia, as I believe there are many many many people who are unaware of the scam.

UPDATE January 2024: still getting emails demanding payment, it’s been reported & no money has been, nor will be paid. The ACCC & Fair Trade have been notified & I believe there’s ongoing legal measures are being taken.

Total scam,
They charged me 80 USD per month; I have neved used their useless app.
They renewed the sunscription before a reminder and when I reached out to them they didnt refund the money;

Dont do it especially if you are a guy, as it will always cost more than you think,

The matches are impossible to contact, and if you don't want to continue and cancel or delete your subscription they will go after what is outstanding and will bring a debt collector in.

All the other dating sites i have tried don't do this apart from eharmony.

One star is one too many, dodgy business practices, the site is a total rip-off, do not sign up!

Rip off.......Only about 20 men in my category, and half of them are 200 kilometers away in vitoria

Bought a 6-month subscription, but bailed-out after only 2 months. Their reputedly scientific algorithms used for matching, are incompetent. Was provided with contacts much further afield than I desired while only vaguely matching my profile( e.g., I live in Sydney and was recommended a match from Port Macquarie.)
I politely requested a cancellation. However, eHarmony was adamant that I must pay the outstanding amount.
Now, they are employing a debt collection agency.
Matter is being handled by Dept. of Fair Trading and also seeking advice from LawAccessNSW.
Avoid this mercenary..and amateur... business
