This is the worst experience anyone’s teeth can ever go through. I have never regretted spending money this much in my life! Complete waste of money. To think I used my hard earned money to buy this level of pain. The sensitivity that this product causes is indescribable. How this product is still being promoted and sold by anyone still shocks me. There are tonnes of review here about the horrendous sensitivity that this product causes to the teeth and the company continues to make one excuse after the other for this let down of a product. The misery I have gone through whilst using this product cannot be explained and I have resigned to fate that I have wasted my money because I won’t be going anywhere near those syringes again. I have left this review here so that no one else goes through this dark ordeal!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear that you experienced such discomfort during the whitening process. We try to mitigate sensitivity in every way we can, in that we do over 2,300 cases a month and only find less than 10 cases of high sensitivity in that same period. This is around 0.43%. These 10 are usually due to specific clinical causes, ie. personal dental circumstances.
Dentists are usually able to spot enamel issues or bruxism (ie exposed dentine, thin overall enamel or grinding and/or clenching) and treat them prior to, or during, treatment. Has your dentist mentioned anything before or during your treatment?
From our records, we are unable to find your case. This may point to trays that have not been manufactured by us, which we are unable to vouch for. Just to confirm, have you received the full whitening Kit containing 3 whitening syringes, one Enlighten Serum toothpaste, one Enlighten White toothpaste, a desensitising Comfort pen, and custom-made trays?
We do have protocols in place for if a patient has sensitivity, which we implement as soon as we are aware of the struggles faced. We're sorry to have not been told sooner so as to help you earlier on your journey. We are always willing to try our best and assist you, should you still wish to do so.

I am really liking this duo of toothpaste. I can notice my teeth are whiter and although sensitive they are not affected. If anything they are less sensitive. As an aside to the benefits. The black and white tubes look really nice on my shelf!

Great results
I used the enlighten smile home teeth whitening via my dentist in November 2024. Very effective product and I am really pleased with the results. I had some teeth sensitivity in the cold weather when I was using it, but this went away after the course. Now I just top up by using the gel for a couple of nights every few months.

The best long term option
I’ve had the best experience undergoing whitening treatment with enlighten smiles. I would recommend this over all other whitening systems- I have done thorough research into all other whitening systems and this seemed the safest and most effective. 6 months post completing it, I can confirm this. My teeth are still at B1 and I had little to no discomfort during the treatment. I’ve had no sensitivity since completing the treatment and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
The company’s customer service team was amazing as well. Especially Katy who I spoke to- she was so helpful and friendly.

Whiter teeth but unbearable sensitivity
I’m in week 2 but have had to stop due to unbearable pain that ibuprofen does not touch. I used the trays with the desensitising gel overnight which helped but now have a horrid metallic taste in my mouth and excess saliva, so not keen to do that again. Any suggestions? Teeth are whiter but not sure I can continue due to pain.

Thank you for your review and we’re so sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this level of discomfort. While some sensitivity is normal, the extreme pain you’re describing is quite rare, and we absolutely want to help make this process more comfortable for you.
Given what you’re experiencing, we’d recommend skipping the at-home sensitivity management steps and going straight to your dentist. They may suggest switching to a lower concentration gel, which should be much gentler on your teeth. This could mean your treatment takes a little longer, but rest assured, your results won’t be affected!

Overpromised...somewhat delivered
I have completed the Enlighten process, including a free extra tube / ~ 1 week of gel.
Overall: Largely succeeded in making my teeth at least partially white, but not consistently as the (high) expectations set by the advertising, 'guarantee and price. Not despondent about the results...but will go elsewhere next time.
Pluses:
- Easy to do
- Took only 3 weeks (4 with my free extra)
- Minimal pain - and they provide a solution if you need help with that (I did not use)
Negatives:
- Advertising and 'guarantee' sets expectations well above reality. If you don't achieve the whiteness like the photos then the 'guarantee' is more of the same treatment...not clear what happens if that also does not work.
- The whiteness is excellent at the end of the teeth - noticeably less so closer to the gums. Apparently you cannot whiten teeth if gums have receded, but for me this issue starts only a few mm in.
- The dentist / clinic you buy Enlighten from have no involvement in the treatment - they just hand over the kits and say 'good luck'. I found this aspect the most disappointing and felt rather ripped off - given the huge amount of advertising for the product in my clinic pretty sure the sales commission must be huge.

Firstly, we would like to clarify a few things that might help:
🔹 Regarding the guarantee – we’re sorry if this felt unclear. Due to legal regulations, we’re unable to deal directly with patients — our guarantee is between us and the dentist, who then provides it to you - their patients. That said, we’re absolutely happy to speak to your dentist on your behalf to review your case if you this the guaranteed result was not achieved. Was a VITA shade guide used at any point to measure the shade and confirm whether B1 was achieved? If not, that’s usually the best first step to establish your result.
🔹 On the variation in whiteness near the gums – this is a completely fair observation and actually a somewhat common biological limitation. The outer ends of the teeth are mostly enamel, which responds brilliantly to whitening. Closer to the gum line, the dentine layer becomes more prominent — and dentine doesn’t whiten in the same way. Unfortunately, this is a natural limitation, and for cases where this contrast is very noticeable and upsetting to the patient, other options such as cosmetic bonding or veneers may have to be sometimes considered.
🔹 Your dentist’s involvement – we’re really sorry to hear you felt unsupported. Dentists are expected to guide patients through the treatment and review results when needed. If you haven't yet shared your concerns with your dentist, we’d really recommend doing so — and if you'd like, we can reach out to them for you. We hate the idea of a patient walking away disappointed, especially when we know just how transformative the results can be.
