I paid £900 for an Aoenik Pro licence upgrade after FontRadar contacted me about my client’s font usage. I asked for help getting the licensing right and understood the upgrade to resolve the issue we had discussed. It was not made clear to me before payment that further charges could follow for the same client’s other country domains.

FontRadar then contacted my client directly about another domain, despite already corresponding with me. When I raised concerns about the sales process and asked why they had approached my client, the response mainly repeated the general licence terms. It did not address what I had been told before paying or why they had bypassed me.

I understand that separate domains may require separate licences. My complaint is about how the scope of the £900 purchase was communicated and how my concerns have been handled. Based on my experience, I would ask for written confirmation of every domain and use covered before making any payment.

We now have to change the font on every platform, since we can't be blackmailed every month.

Font Radar reviewed the actual scope and periods of use, then prepared licences that reflected those details rather than applying a blanket calculation. We paid the licensing fees, and Aly confirmed in writing that their records would be updated and the case closed.

No one enjoys receiving an unexpected licensing notice, but we felt the matter was handled fairly. We appreciated that they listened to our circumstances, took the immediate remediation into account, and reached a proportionate outcome while still ensuring the font designers were compensated.

I do not recommend using fontradar as we have found them to be bullies and unreasonable on the issue of licencing. Do not go anywhere near this company. Check Reddit for similar sentiment that backs me up.

FontRadar contacted us regarding a font licensing matter on our website. Their communication was clear, professional, respectful, and solution-oriented throughout the entire process. I had an issue with a font we did not correctly purchase. The issue is resolved and Font Radar did in a correct, kind and professional manner. I appreciated the contact and process of things.

Although I was intrigued, and honestly a little suspicious, about receiving an email from Font Radar, they were in fact correct: I had mistakenly been using a font without the proper license. They were kind and patient in explaining which license was required and the differences between the available licenses.
They did not add any penalty whatsoever, only the regular license fee I should have purchased in the first place. Not my best moment, but at least they were very professional about it.
Being a designer myself, I am concerned about intellectual property rights so I was at least happy to seem them helping to fix things the right way.

I received an unsolicited email from “Bauer Types” licensing (via fontradar) demanding a response within 3 business days and immediately threatening to “transfer the dispute to our legal team,” plus “additional costs” and a 15% penalty. No evidence was provided. No prior notice was received. Just pressure and implied consequences.

The communication implied that “past usage must be addressed” even though the font files had already been removed and were no longer being served. The tone strongly suggested financial liability without providing any formal legal documentation or clear substantiation of damages.

This approach appears to rely on automated web scanning of publicly accessible assets followed by pressure-based outreach framed around retroactive licensing claims.

While intellectual property enforcement is legitimate in principle, the execution here felt disproportionate and commercially aggressive rather than constructive. The messaging seems designed to create urgency and perceived liability rather than facilitate resolution.

Recipients should independently verify their current hosting status and seek neutral advice before responding.

There is no opportunity to speak to someone with legal expertise. They rely on font licences as they currently stand, not as they were purchased in the past. There is no room for discussion or negotiation. This is not good business practice and it is confusing.

They contacted me for using an unlicensed font, I removed the font from the website, they still say I should pay! I want to sue them for harresment.
