Just over 2 years on moving in to a brand new home we had water ingress through our kitchen ceiling.
Gentoo generously asked a sub contractor to repair..
A few years on the leak has returned...
Now NHBC will not get involved as a contractor has been to site without going through them.
Gentoo will not talk to us, now their contractor will not get involved as they don't want responsibility for any Gentoo design issues.....
Now up the creek with no paddle ....
Just hope it doesn't rain.....
Please stay away from Gentoo Juniper homes in the North East....

They say they are aware of situation but don't contact me unfortunately....

Moved in to 4 bed detached home 16 months ago. When speaking to customer service for ongoing problems in November and being promised callbacks by Lisa and Sandra (who I believe is the head of customer service), we have received none to date. Gentoo are living up to their deplorable reputation. I would not recommend this builder.

No customer service , don’t keep appointments, no respect for private property as use it as their own storage facility.
Use underhand tactics to avoid any responsibly going forward .
I strongly advise to purchase elsewhere with a reputable builder.

I purchased a "premium" property from Gentoo Homes in scholar gardens chapel park, but the experience has been a nightmare. It has been a year since I moved in, and critical issues remain unresolved.

WANT TO GET THE LEAST QUALITY AND WORKMANSHIP-COME AND BUY HERE

Major defects include:

Structural & Exterior: Cracked and chipped brickwork that undermines the house's exterior quality.

Internal Workmanship: Terrible paintwork and poorly fitted internal doors—the "attention to detail" promised is nonexistent.

Safety & Damage: Ongoing water leaks that have not been professionally addressed.

Lack of Accountability: There is absolutely no follow-up. They have ignored my requests for 12 months, seemingly exploiting the community’s trust and the buyer's inexperience.

Gentoo Homes is happy to take your money for a high-end property but fails to deliver the quality or service to match. Save your money and avoid this developer.

Literally the worst company I’ve ever had the misfortune to deal with. Months of delays actually completing on the house that ended up being 9 months later than our original date. Since moving in we’ve been plagued with snags; some of which have been serious in nature and actually dangerous. Our roof had not been installed correctly which only came to light when tiles came off and landed on my car. That could have been a person! No use of the main bathroom for 4 months because of a tiling issue only to be followed by no use of the en suite shower for 5 months because of a leak. 1.5 years in and we still have snags to be resolved. Avoid!

Was given a move in date for september. Not a single form of formal comunnication since september. You ring the office multilpe times and they are absolutly clueless every single time.

We have recently bought our home at Scholars Gardens which has been built by Gentoo. Since moving in they have been absolutely amazing! From keeping us updated with what’s happening on site to just being a massive support in general. Jack (site manager) has been amazing, so welcoming on site and again been great at keeping us up to date with what’s going on onsite. The idea of moving onto a new build site is daunting with the noise but the guys on here have been so considerate of the families moving in. Thank you so much!!

From sales to customer care, the whole company is just a shambles. We have been lied to over and over again and still to this day are no further forward. My mental health is in the pan through buying a house from this company.

We recently purchased our new home at Scholars Gardens, Chapel Park with Gentoo Homes, and the experience has been excellent.

From the very beginning, Sheena from the sales team has been amazing, always patient and supportive while our house sale was going through, and taking the time to explain everything clearly at each stage.

The process has felt smooth and stress-free thanks to her guidance. We’re now really excited to move in and start enjoying our lovely new home!

We recently moved into Sweetbriar Park in Darlington more than a year after first selecting our plot.

At the time, Adele was amazing at answering all of our questions and putting our minds as ease as we worked to understand the process of buying a new build property and choose our options. She kept us updated regularly about how our future home was progressing. When Adele left, to be replaced by Callum, we were wary that we might not receive the same level of care. We shouldn't have been worried. Callum really supported us as we progressed to move-in day, battling concerns over stamp-duty increases and last minute issues with our mortgage that delayed our completion by a week. It was through this last week that Callum and Gentoo really showed how far they would go to support us in the move and took so much stress out of the process.

Now we're in the house and Lynne has been a great site manager, working to fix the minor snags that have cropped up. Though we're not yet through the list 100% - so can't make comment about this too much - we've been really pleased with the care and attention we've recieved so far, not to mention the quality of the build - our snagging inspector even suggested the finish inside the house was better than many he's seen.

I wouldn't hestitate to buy a Gentoo home again... but maybe not for a little while yet.

We are buying our Gentoo home in Newcastle and have found the help, support and service from Lynn, Jack and Sheena to be exceptional. They have provided valuable advice, timely reminders and excellent customer relations.

Our family had an amazing experience with Gentoo Homes, especially thanks to Lynn. As first-time buyers, we had a lot of questions, and she was incredibly helpful and patient every step of the way. She went out of her way to accommodate our requests and made sure we got exactly what we were looking for. I spent a lot of time speaking with her, and she was always so kind and supportive. Honestly, if it wasn’t for her, none of this would have come together. She stayed on top of everything, kept us updated, and was always available.

After the purchase, the home demonstration was brilliant. From the moment I spoke with Jack, I could tell he was a great guy, I instantly liked him, which made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable and relaxed. He’s very responsible and professional, making sure everything was clearly explained and taken care of properly. He handled any issues we had without hesitation and always kept us in the loop. I’m genuinely glad we had someone like him to guide us through that stage of the process and happy he will be around.

The team at Gentoo Homes in Scholar’s Garden have been absolutely fantastic. It’s been the best service we could have asked for.

Louise is lovely, easy to talk to and helps with anything you need. She goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and she does everything she can to make the process simple & easy. She dropped off documents to our solicitors which was super nice as its out the way for us <3. Was the main reason we decided to buy our first home with Gentoo Homes

Just moved into a new build on Sweetbriar Park in Darlington .
The sales process was a breeze thanks to the sites representative Callum's expertise and care .
The house is beautiful and is built to a high standard inside and out .Lynn the site Manager has been to see us and has quickly arranged to fix the few minor issues that will always arise with a new build.
We expected a stressful few weeks after moving in but thanks to the positive attitude of the on site staff and their superb after care we are relaxing in our new house like the Cadburys caramel bunny. Thank you Gentoo and your staff for a first class product and service

Trying to apply for a 2 bedroom house to be told because my son doesn't stay 4 night a week I can only have a 1 bedroom, Gentoo penalising single fathers and preventing them from spending quality time with there children

The customer service provided from Michelle is truly unmatched. From the first phone call, to getting our keys, Michelle has made the whole process seamless. As first time buyers this was completely new to us and of course we had many questions, Michelle put us at ease and answered every single one of them without making us feel silly! The house itself is amazing, Tony is absolutely brilliant, also answering any questions we had. The support and warmness from both throughout the journey of buying our first home was second to none. A big thank you to the Gentoo team.

Buying a new build with Gentoo Homes has been an absolute pleasure. Michelle is absolutely amazing, and I can't think of when I've received better customer service fom anyone. The process was as quick and straightforward as it's possible to be buying property, and she made sure I was informed and looked after throughout. Of course as with any new build there are snags, but Michelle and Tony have been brilliant at getting them raised and fixed. The house is beautiful and im particularly happy that the ceiling is higher than a lot of new builds, which really gives a sense of additional space, especially for a tall person like me. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

We would like to say a big thank you to Michelle who helped massively to make our dream of owning a house in the UK come true. Thank you for all the support you gave us through the process and for helping us all through. We were at the brink of changing our minds because the property didn't tuck all our boxes but for Michelle's help and encouragement. You sold us on the property at Chester Gate.
