This program is the most aggressively unfriendly user experience I have ever encountered. Doing even the most simple task of copying, pasting and resizing basic images is a rage inducing odyssey.

I thought at first that this program must be some sort of elaborate revenge on anybody unfortunate to use it. Then I realised that since it was developed primarily for linux, it's creator/s has copied the linux approach. This entails making it as obtuse and difficult to use as possible as some sort of gatekeeping measure or something.

You'd honestly be better off using paint.

Gimp ist ein Programm dass damit wirbt, ein kostenloses Bildbearbeitungsprogramm zu sein. Was in soweit nicht wirklich funktioniert. Denn Bild Dateien die im JPG sind, sollte man grundsätzlich nicht bearbeiten. RAW kann Gimp nicht, was Gimp letztlich überflüssig und sinnlos macht. Denn man muss zusätzliche Programme und Daten installieren und somit ist letztendlich nicht mehr Gimp. Also bleibt es Unsinn.

This is SUPER LAGGY, I've tried to edit a photo but all I get is LAG...and it almost crashed my Chromebook completely due to all of the lag, literally the WORST EXPERIENCE I've ever had

I have been using GIMP for over ten years and it was so easy to use. I have been searching for an older version because the current version is incredibly hard to use, if it works. Has it been white anted by other companies to make people shift to a paid photo editing program?

Det dårligste program jeg nogensinde har brugt til billede redigering, det virker ikke ordentligt, sletter dine ting og lige pludselig merger den alle dine lag sammen.
Jeg anbefaler virkelig ikke dette program!

Alle Einstellungen gehen extrem leicht kapput und verloren. Alles löscht sich von selbst. Einfügen ist ein Glücksspiel, meistens erfinded es wege etwas komplett anderes. Als ich den Entwicklern eine E-Mail wegen den Problemen schrieb erhielt ich gleich eine Antwort: die wollten nur Geld aber nichts lösen. Benützt es nicht!!!

Gimp was advised by a friend, after Apple made my bought Photoshop unusable.
It's okay and has a bit of a learning curve but obviously not as good as the Adobe prog.
One niggle is that when I use it, it messes up my Logitech trackball software and I have to re-boot to get it working again.
Other than that, it works and does a passable job, as long as you have patience!

GIMP ist eine gute Bildbearbeitungssoftware, solange man sich nicht in die Tiefen des Programmes versteigt.
Die Software ist nicht intuitiv gestaltet und man muß nach allem suchen und ausprobieren, ausprobieren und nochmals ausprobieren.
Für anspruchsvolle Bildbearbeitung gut zu gebrauchen. Wenn es aufwändiger wird, kommen die Probleme, wenn man sich nicht wirklich gut mit GIMP auskennt.
Also. Ein ganzes Stück an Einarbeitung und Einlesen ist notwendig, um mit diesem Programm zu arbeiten. Aktuell habe ich die neueste Version von GIMP installiert; die Bearbeitung von weit über Tausend Bildern wäre aber viel zu zeitaufwändig.

Ich war erstaunt von der eher negativen Haltung hier zu diesem Programm. Ich finde als Freeware ist es durchauchs ein brauchbares Programm auch wenn es natürlich nicht ganz ohne Fehler ist.

Gimp is crap, photoshop rules

I used to love it. The new GIMP deleted my most-used tool: an exacto knife that I could trim away all of the surrounding content from the image I wanted. That editing tool is now gone. Why?

So schlecht in der Bedienung das ich am Ende für das Zeichnen mit Schwarz lieber Paint genommen habe...

Very possibly the worst, counter-intuitive software I have ever used. A steaming pile of excrement which I have gladly deleted from my PC.

The fact that the default automatically pastes every layer onto the background as soon as you deselect then automatically turns the the select tool into a lasso that will further cut apart your image when you try to reselect it is the stupidest sequence of events I could imagine. Who out there could possibly think that this was even a remotely intelligent thing to set for the default? It was enough that after 20 minutes it made me delete this program and forget about its existence forever.

uzywam, jest ok

Seems cool as a concept, but in reality it took me an hour to set text to towns i made in dnd, and even then it was a pain to use when the interface was just so bad and then when i exported the picture it didn't even save. Not even for recent used history like in most programs. Wasted.

A remarkable piece of software... It makes my heart sing to work with free software that is made with passion and love. I look forward to getting better and better at using GIMP as the years go by. Lifelong learning... thank you!

If you are willing to fight with an application to set colors go on its your own problem.
can't believe people actually spent some of their lives in order to make this crap which only made to troll people
