i purchased 1 of these, A complete waste of time and money, Lime scale everywhere Extremely disappointed, They just don't work, I will have to install a new avoca water softener.Bad product not fit for purpose.

Having installed a unit last year I am very pleased with the results. I moved into an all electric house, in a hard water area and am reliant on a direct hot water cylinder. The effects of limescale were evident in numerous areas, taps, shower unit and kettle and I had no doubt there was also scale on the elements of the hot water cylinder. Since install and a couple months of slightly cloudy hot water (result of dissolving scale in the cylinder) I am really pleased, hot water is being heated more efficiently, I haven't descaled the kettle once and there is no scale on the taps. Cleaning the shower unit is far easier. Whilst the unit was not cheap I think its more than justified itself. There are cheaper alternatives but you often have to factor in space and ongoing costs.

3 star given temporary as issue is under observation and team is working on it. It is not working as description team is saying it might be a faulty one but not replaced as they want to check asking photos and I am sending as per required. Let's see how they deal. I will change review if I get satisfied.

I bought one of these and had it installed just before we had our kitchen and bathroom refitted a month ago. We live in a very hard water area, and I can genuinely say it has made a massive difference. I am not using limescale cleaners any more, my new (black) taps still look great and even my sceptical husband says he has noticed how much the washing soaps and gels etc. bubble up more. I obviously haven't had it long enough to see the effect long term, but so far, so good. Very pleased with it.

We decided to give Halcyan a go as we have just had a new kitchen. For us it has meant going from a salt softener to Halcyan. My husband installed it with no issues about 3 months ago. I was anxious about how my hair would be not having the softened water but it’s been fine - in fact maybe better. Keeping the stainless steel sink looking clean is more effort as it does leave splash marks compared to nothing showing with the salt softener and we are now spraying the shower with daily shower spray but it does clean up well. I’m getting into the habit of wiping surfaces with a glass cloth as I go round with the wet cloth and it’s not much effort. It’s nice not having to buy and even more so - store bags of salt. Also nice that we don’t need a separate water tap. My husband is a definite convert - but I do the cleaning! And on balance it was a good choice despite a bit more cleaning

I bought it after much deliberation and reading the reviews, went for the best product and got it professionally installed and have seen absolutely no improvement the limescale in the kettle I feel have gone worse as now I have to limescale ale tablet every week in my glass kettle so very disappointed feel like conned !! Surprised how such products are allowed to sell in the market.

I installed the unit myself in January 2026 so it has been operational for nearly 7 months. I previously had various water softeners for 30 plus years. I do not notice any limescale build up except around where water is boiled for example the kettle. Otherwise white spots on taps are easily removed with a damp cloth. There is no evidence of limescale in dishwasher or washing machine. No longer get blue staining on sinks which in the past may have been the result of softened water reacting with copper piping. This was always minor but not always easy to remove.
Drinking water seems to be improved and water usage is down because the old softener regeneration cycle no longer takes place.
All in all a good investment. Neither this product nor a traditional water softener eliminates the need for regular cleaning of surfaces in contact with water around the home. An effective answer is to do a small amount of regular wiping of surfaces which I find works well without the need for any descaling products.

I've had Halcyon and it beats having a salt based system. Only thing I've found is that you've got to wipe away water marks or drops. Otherwise after 2-3 weeks they are baked in. But still very pleased (so far!)

Great simple installation, took it to a local plumbing supplier who gave me the correct couplings - and that's it. 2 years of hassle free water softening. Our boiling tap water boiler kept failing before Halcyan, now it's trouble free.

We’ve had the Halcyan Water Conditioner installed for just under a year.

My partner and I have always lived in Bristol, so we know how hard the water is here. After renovating our first home from top to bottom, everything inside is brand new, new boiler, new fixtures, and a hot water tap - so protecting it from limescale was really important to us.

We also wanted to keep everything looking good aesthetically, not just functioning well, especially as we’re planning to make this house a rental in the future.

Hard water can quickly ruin new fittings, taps, and appliances, so installing a Halcyan was an easy decision for us.

Since having it installed, we’re really pleased with it’s performance. Our cleaner comes every two weeks and there’s no limescale buildup on taps, glass, or surfaces, which in Bristol is pretty impressive.

Very helpful and friendly staff guided us through the purchase and guarantee process. Although the unit is quite expensive it comes with a 30 year warranty. We live in a hard water area, and had lots of limescale buildup in kettles taps etc. Got a plumber to fit the very small unit as per instructions as he was here to fit a new shower anyway, otherwise I would have fitted it myself. We still get a small build up of limescale over long periods of time, but the difference is night and day, very pleased overall.

Had it for over a year now and still working well. Have noticed better water pressure and any scale residue, if any, can just be wiped away very easily.

Living in a hard water area I have always had a conventional water softener. When it was time to replace it, I was looking for a solution that was effective, but less harmful to the environment. I was recommended the Halcyan conditioner by my son and a neighbour who is a plumber. After doing extensive research and talking to the Halcyan company, I decided to take the plunge and ordered a unit. This process was quick and easy, it arrived within the time frame that was promised. I had it fitted and by all accounts the instructions were easy to follow and soon it was working. It has now been working away quietly in the background for just over a year and I must say I am pleased that I decided to 'go for it'. It is space saving (it doesn't take up an entire cupboard), quiet, requires no settings or filling with salt (so: a green solution, not harmful to the environment!) and I almost forget it is there. This is a good product and I am happy to recommend it.

I like the fact that it improves drinking water, unlike water softeners that can’t be connected to your main water supply.
This small device really does work. I have since recommended it to friends who are equally happy with the result.

The service from first enquiry through to purchase was nice snd easy with no pressure. I found a local plumber to fit the unit and have been very happy with the results.
The fact there is no maintenance costs and no servicing and there is a long guarantee on the products is also very good and saves me having to do anything else with the unit.
It is also very compact.

After having installed the unit, we haven’t noticed any additional limescale and even the drinking water (after normal fridge filtration) has improved.
