David Woodward A bully and a lier

David Woodward was the solicitor on the seller side while we were purchasing a property. He withheld important information for three months, resulting in our purchase finally falling through. He wouldn't disclose the property we were buying had un adopted roads, he hidden the fact there were 1.7M of debts from the building company falling into home owners. He was constantly bullying our solicitor and his actual client. People involved in the process were scared of him. He costed us so much money and losing a home we really wanted. Awful person to deal with.

Oh how I wish I’d read these reviews first

Took 10 months to complete my purchase of a shared ownership flat. James communication was really bad and at times unprofessional. A email was sent not ment for me and the response was “lol same first name”. As a first time buyer I had no direction on the steps I had to take. I was sent my file with no direction what I had to sign. One document didn’t even include my name - it took me going into the office to make him realise that it was not the correct document. My file contained part of report for a property that wasn't mine. Worst part was that I had a issue with the staircasing part of the mortgage that resulting in my mortgage running out - I believe he didn’t submit the mortgage application correctly because my housing association had never had a problem previously. I ended up a giving up 5% in the property just because I didn’t trust him to handle the stair-casing transaction properly as I was getting know answers or direction. All in all a horrible experience with this firm and would not recommend to anyone.

I am giving one star generously

I am giving one star generously. Both David Woodward and Ashley Harrison are very rude. David was saying that quotation will be provided should your buyers don't use us and Ashley completely said find another firm. Quite rude in their response. On 9th January 2025 Harrison Solicitors were fined £25,000 and £1350 cost by SRA. Check this on SRA website.

Executors house sale

We have recently completed a sale through Harrison's as Executors. James Westwood and the team were helpful throughout the process and provided guidance on any enquiries from the buyers solicitor. Any queries and clarifications were dealt with promptly. Charges were clear from the beginning and a clear break down of the fees was listed on the invoice. We have no hesitation in recommending Harrison's.

Efficient and prompt responses

I have recently completed a purchase through Harrison's as a first time buyer. They were helpful throughout the process. All queries and clarifications were usually acknowledged or responded within 24 hours. Charges were clear from the beginning and a clear break up was provided in the final invoice. I have dealt with Sallie and she has always provided appropriate and helpful responses in order the complete the deal. Many thanks!

Awful experience with Harrisons

I had a very poor experience with Harrisons Solicitors, especially as a first-time buyer. What should have been an exciting milestone quickly turned stressful due to their lack of transparency and poor client service.

From the outset, the documentation was unclear, and we encountered hidden fees that weren’t disclosed until after we had already paid the initial £450. When we raised concerns about the lack of clarity, and politely asked if there is anything that can be done, as we would not have chosen them, should the additional fees have been clear, the situation only got worse.

We were passed on to Julien, who was not only unhelpful but outright rude and dismissive. Rather than offering support or attempting to resolve our concerns, he focused on correcting the spelling of his name and was incredibly patronising throughout. His attitude was essentially: we're right, you're wrong and if you don't like it, go elsewhere. So after a lot of stress and upset we did move.
The communication and attitude of Julien was appalling.

Since switching solicitors, the difference has been night and day. Our new firm has been proactive, clear, and supportive throughout the process—highlighting just how poor Harrisons' service really was. The delays, lack of initiative, and poor communication at Harrisons were not just frustrating, they were completely avoidable.

I've also spoken with others who’ve had similarly negative experiences with Harrisons, including repeated delays, unprofessional email exchanges, and even confidential documents being sent to the wrong recipients.

Based on my experience (and that of others), I would not recommend Harrisons Solicitors to anyone.

Unresponsive and slow

Unresponsive and slow - Lack of communication is inexcusable. Everyone knows there can be delays but the seeming lack of care assures me that I'd never use this firm again nor would accept any prospective purchasers who intend to use this firm.

Warren is apathetic, uncommunicative, and needlessly blunt.

Warren is a poor communicator and at no point in my home buying process did I feel reassured as a first time buyer that he was acting in my interests. Warren made no attempt to accommodate me and, on several occasions, he was needlessly blunt when I asked reasonable questions (and that is if I received a reply at all). It's not a surprise to me that there are other negative reviews specifically aimed at him here as well. I cannot believe he can't grasp that, as he is being paid thousands of pounds by people making the most expensive purchase of their lives, they might need questions answered and timelines met.

Based on my experience with Warren, I would not be using Harrison's again and nor will I be recommending them to friends.

I wish I could give less stars

I wish I could give less stars! The staff are completely rude and arrogant. Our legal rep was David (seemingly one of the owners) and our paralegal was Julien. On multiple occasions we called the council and other PubSec bodies (Julian refusing to make a single phone call himself, preferring to stick to emails at all times), to chase documents we had been waiting for between 2-8 weeks. On each occasion we were told by the council that they’d responded to Julien or David providing the documents requested within 24 hours by email. They had been using the PubSec’s perceived slowness to cover up their own lack of work.

If you call them they only answer the phone occasionally, and are incredibly rude.

We were unfortunate enough to have Julien negotiating certain aspects of our house sale for us and on each occasion it was clear that our buyers’ legal team had the upper hand and he wasn’t capable of handling these negotiations.

We were lucky to get a single word response by email from our actual solicitor in most cases, despite addressing him directly. If we had to ask any questions he would answer in as few words as possible, leaving us comparing notes on his emails trying to work out what he meant.

Honestly a completely awful experience and I would never recommend this company to anyone I like! The level of work was only made worse by the sheer arrogance of the staff. Julien clearly sees himself as a solicitor despite his lack of credentials, given his attitude. A complaint to David directly through our process was met with a disappointing and dismissive response by email (no offer of a phone call or apology of any form of course).

All of this caused delays with both our Sale and Purchase, resulting in us having to exchange and complete within 48 hours (days after my husband’s major surgery, which we made them aware of months in advance). Harrison’s didn’t have any interest in our completion date and made no effort to work towards a timeline that suited us.

Warren is the rudest conveyancer and doesn't understand that you've paid their company for a service. Ignores you for over a week and doesn't update you until you voice your annoyances. Wouldn't even give his manager's email address to complain.

The communication is so poor that it is the agency that updates you and not the firm.

If you're buying with Parkers do not use them. They take over 6 weeks to request compulsory documents. Parkers are the one's that update you so God knows why you'd pay for this firm.

AVOID!

AVOID!
Not much of a personal service. Communication was not great. Didn’t feel supported through the process.
They breached GDPR rules by sending my ex husband all of my personal details by mistake. (From whom I was under a protection order.) All I got was a useless apology. I should have taken matters further at that point! They should be compensating me for the stress they caused me that day and have compromised my safety.
They take on too many clients and simply cannot cope. Hence the poor service and poor mistakes they make. Reading other reviews it seems I am not the first to say they make mistakes.
So in my strong opinion, find yourself a decent solicitor that offers a good personable service.

Terrible service, inexperienced admin team.
David Woodward was rude, arrogant and unprofessional.
The team do not seem to work together as given wrong advice and information.
Wasted our time just to try and get the process started so decided to withdraw our instructions for selling our property.
We had such low confidence in them that they could not be trusted to act in our best interest.
We have since instructed another local firm who are more professional and approachable.
As one other reviewer stated
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Harrison Bryce stands out as one of the…

Harrison Bryce stands out as one of the most disappointing solicitor companies I've dealt with. They consistently misled me about my file being submitted to the courts, only admitting after three months that an error had prevented it. Due to their ongoing dishonesty and negligence, I've opted to switch to another firm to handle my case. It's been a frustrating and time-consuming experience, and I strongly advise others to consider alternatives. My interactions were with Kashif, whose rapid speech and stammer added to the overall dissatisfaction with their service.

In my experience with Harrison Bryce, Kashif was the solicitor assigned to handle my case. Unfortunately, I found it challenging to communicate effectively with him due to his fast-paced speech and noticeable stammer. This communication barrier added to the frustrations I already had with the company's overall handling of my case.

Professional and efficient

David acted as soliciotor for my residence purchase. I found him and Anjali very professional and responsive. My purchase was moving slow because one of the party in the chain didn't have their act together. but I can't fault with the services provided by Harrisons. They always pick up the phone and respond to queries. I would certainly use their services if I do any sale / purchase in future.
