I had the pleasure of meeting and being coached by Pep on my recent trip to the Maldives.

I had never been coached before so I did not know what to expect - well it was humbling.

That said, Pep was amazing from day one, he’s tips and techniques forced me to think about my surfing from another perspective, and with slight adjustments I could see and feel immense improvement on my part.

Pep helped me out my cut backs - moving a lot of boxes 😆 and foot placement on my board to generate more drive, speed and turns.

Pep was always approachable and patient in our one on ones, and honestly I look forward to my next trip with him - as I will be with him again to take my surfing to another level.

Over and above surfing, he is a genuine human and I really appreciated getting to know him during this trip.

I’m grateful for Pepijn, a phenomenal surf coach. He has the qualities of a master teacher: he meets his students where they are, identifies realistic goals and strategies to achieve them, and is unfailingly supportive along the way. He’s as adept at explaining the technical aspects of surfing as he is reflecting on the psychological dimensions. Specifically, this past summer, he helped me think about my cutback turns in a new way, which unlocked the movement for me and immediately helped improve my speed and flow. This trip was an incredible experience from start to finish. I came into it hoping to improve my surfing, get more comfortable in different conditions, and have a great time and it exceeded my expectations.

What really stood out to me was the quality of the coaching. Pep took the time to understand my surfing, identify the small things holding me back, and give me specific adjustments that I could actually feel and apply in the water. I came away with a much better understanding of my technique, positioning, and how to approach different waves.

The best part of the trip was probably the combination of fun waves, an amazing group, and having Pep who was genuinely invested in helping everyone improve. It felt like a surf trip with friends, but with really high level coaching built into the experience.

I’d absolutely recommend working with Pep to anyone who wants to take their surfing seriously, whether you’re looking to break through a plateau, improve your fundamentals, or get more out of your time in the water. The combination of technical knowledge, personalized coaching, and the overall experience makes a huge difference. I left the trip surfing better, understanding my surfing better, and already looking forward to the next one.

Have had the pleasure of being coached by Pep twice on a boat trip. Not only is he a good guy to be around his knowledge and expertise when it comes to surfing is second to none. From spending time and creating personal programs relevant to you, his patience and positivity, having clever techniques that make learning easier to even making understanding board shapes a bit easier, Pep is a quality coach. Whether you’re just starting or are an old surfer with lots of bad habits (me) I’d recommend 100% letting Pep spend time with you to make you a better surfer.

I have received coaching from Pepijn both online and during a coaching week in Portugal. Both experiences were excellent.

Pepijn is very good at identifying what you need to work on and how to improve it, both in and out of the water. He works from sound pedagogical principles that I recognize from my own work as a teacher.

I was especially impressed by the quality of the online coaching. I sent him footage of a few waves from a wave pool and received detailed feedback on my surf technique, including drills to work on specific areas. He also gave me advice on improving my surf fitness and recommended which boards to bring to the coaching week.

The coaching week was equally good. We were taken to quality waves every day, even though the swell was larger than I had anticipated for that time of year. The accommodation was also excellent.
I have been to Portugal several times before, but this was my first visit to this area, and it was a great way to explore a new region.
It was also more reasonably priced than some of the other coaching alternatives I had considered.

This was my second surf trip with Pepijn, and once again it was excellent throughout,
The first trip was amazing, and this one left me with absolutely no doubt.

One of the things I appreciate most is the atmosphere he creates with such care,
Everyone feels welcome from the start, and people are open, supportive, and fair.

You're encouraged to push your limits, to try new things, and not be afraid to fall,
Because taking risks is part of learning, and Pepijn actively supports it all.

His surfing knowledge seems endless, and he's always happy to explain something new,
Whether it's technique, wave reading, mindset, or fears, he helps you work your way through.

I particularly enjoyed our one-on-one chat about learning while still having fun,
A simple lesson, but an important one, and a reminder I sometimes overlook when all is said and done.

This trip delivered everything I was hoping for and even a little more,
I'll definitely be back for another surf adventure, that's for sure.

Had a great experience in one of Pepijn his surfcamps in France. The whole thing was well organised and the communication was on point.

One of the things I like about Pepijn is that he can make surfing simple and concrete to the finest detail if need be. While also he can dive with you and the group into softer subjects such as mindset etc. if that is what is needed.

This was my first experience with Pepijn, and it was fantastic! The entire surf trip was very well organized and thoughtfully taken care of. Pepijn genuinely cares about his guests, both in and out of the water, which makes a huge difference.

He is a sincere, authentic, and approachable coach who creates a great atmosphere for everyone. Thanks to his coaching, achieving your surfing goals becomes much easier and more enjoyable.

Second surf trip with Pepijn! Just like the last trip, he’s calm, warm, and incredibly supportive. During the trip, Pepijn creates a safe environment where you’re allowed to make mistakes, try new things, and step out of your comfort zone. Most importantly, he believes in you more than you believe in yourself. (I know it sounds crazy, but it’s true.) Unlike your surfer dude friends who only yell “go go go,” Pepijn actually knows your limits and helps you push through them in the right way.

He also has a very special energy that somehow brings all the kind people together. I mean our group and our amazing videographer Alex, no matter how terrible the weather is, he’s always there, probably sitting under a tiny umbrella with his radio on. There was one session when I was seriously doubting whether I could surf in those conditions, but Alex’s words encouraged me to give it a try. And yes, it worked! (Of course, with Pepijn encouraging me in the water too.)

I really enjoyed this trip. Honestly, part of me almost doesn’t want to recommend it too much… cuz I’m afraid it’ll become too popular to sign up in the future😂😂😂

Once again legendary trip! I've started surfing "serious" about three years ago and found Pepijn's coaching trips. Since then i've already been 5 times up till now, next one is already booked this year and every year i will go at least once, there is no doubt in that. After the first trip i was hooked and the feeling never goes away, each trip i go to i'm more exicted to book the next one again! (Hooked on the trips and progression i make)

Why you ask? Simple, Pepijn is a legendary human, one of a kind! His coaching is sublime, his personality is just epic and pure and his knowledge about surfing and training is so deep that you can ask anything.

Doesnt matter what you are working on, he will give you the little details you need specific for you and he will explain it over and over in different ways until it clicks for you. He really looks to what you need as a person and will be truly happy if you are seeing the results you need. Not only surfing technique, but also things you need in the water emotionally (talk about fear/safety etc.).

Can say alot more but you should just book the trip if you want to improve.

He will set your surfing bar so high it turns into a rooftop restaurant with champagne and jacuzzi's in downtown Tokyo.

Your surf feeling will be higher dan you can imagine, higher than reenacting a Tolkien story with amfetamine.

When they asked Chuck Norris if he ever surfed the 100 foot wave, he replied 'Yeah, but only after Pepijn showed me how'.

He makes me go to work with a smile, he makes my wife more beautiful, he makes me love my kids even more, heck he even makes my guitar solos sound better.

He is the grip -no he is the wax you need on the slippery slope between kookiness and cool.

He is that guy.

I can’t recommend Pepijn’s coaching enough, put simply, he is the best.

I have been on multiple trips with Pep now and every trip I learn something new and build my confidence.
We were able to surf every day in different conditions which was ideal for learning how to read waves and use different sections of the wave for different manouvres.
Pep has such a kind, encouraging manner and reads people well to identify how different people learn and adapts his coaching to that.
The 1 to 1 coaching is a great way to focus in on what each individual needs to work on and we do different on land exercises to aid that.
Pep has become such an important person in my life, he is so much more than just my surf coach, a true friend I look forward to many many more surf trips with.
My favourite day of the trip was the final surf and it was just me, Pep and Alex the photographer and I felt so proud and lucky to be there.

I booked this coaching week right after attending the first one and I was not disappointed.
Pepijn is not only a great surf coach but also an amazing human being. He has a natural ability to make everyone feel at ease, even in challenging conditions.

You truly get more than what you pay for. The video analysis, the technical surf sessions, the off-the-water activities and always great vibes.

A special thanks as well to Alex, our videographer for the week, who didn’t flinch in the face of pouring rain and howling winds always kepping morale high and ready jokes.

If you’re unsure about booking this trip, don’t hesitate and just do it. You won’t regret it. In fact, you’ll probably want to come back for more.

I just got back from Pepijn's surf coaching week in France and it was unforgettable! I learned so much, both about my own surfing and about surfing in general.

Being coached by Pepijn was a real highlight. Instead of just feeding you the answers, he makes you think for yourself and stays with it until you actually understand what's going on.

On top of that, Pepijn creates a fun, welcoming environment, the group clicked right away and the food at the house was great.

I'd really recommend going with Pepijn. You'll come home a better surfer and with and a huge smile.

Like last coaching trip, I had such a great week with Pepijn, the other people in the group and the staff of SURFinn. What made this trip even better than the one I was on two years ago, was the fact that photographer Alex was on the beach and Pepijn was with us in the water during the sessions. We had all the footage for the analysis of our technique, which made me learn so much about my surfing and how to improve it. I have made a lot of progress since my last coaching trip, and I look forward to reaping the benefits of this week's feedback once again. I thank Pepijn once more for helping me breath through some of the ‘out of my comfort zone’-high waves, and eventually catching and surfing them. I also enjoyed the food at the SURFinn a lot too. It goes without saying that I would definitely go on one of Pepijn’s coaching trips again

Best coaching i ever had. The difference with other coaching i had, is the very high quality of knowledge, very well analyzed, prepared, structured and in dept personal build up of layered explanation with a ton of examples to illustrate and analyse together (video’s of your own surfing, Pepijns and other professionals and daily examples of your shredding teammates (yes it felt like a supportive team doing it all together). This analysis then connects with the physical practice supported by on-land try-outs like surfskating and feeling how to lean into the wave for example. Besides the expansion of technical knowledge i also got challenged in the conditions to surf and paddle out in. I had a lot of fears holding me back in my surfing. Thanks to the trust, safety, thoughtful and supportive help from Pepijn and the amazing backup of my teammates, after this week most conditions now seem perfectly manageable to me. I really feel i broke trough some walls this week, it helps me to be a better surfer in all sessions that follow. I have alot to work on, but i now know exactly how and why. I feel the effect of this week already is expanding outwards into all my surfing. Thanks to Alex (also master in good vibes) everything got documented in amazing pictures and movies to look back at with a big smile on my face. Already looking forward to the next trip!

In April 2026, I was fortunate enough to experience a week of group surf coaching with Pepijn in Figueira da Foz, Portugal. For me, as a long-time free surfer, it was the best coaching I could have imagined. The small group size created a very pleasant surf-life vibe while simultaneously allowing for intensive coaching from Pepijn. Daily video analysis and theory sessions provided highly individualized support for improving each surfer's style, and throughout the week, training priorities were developed that could be valuable even after the camp. Pepijn was present throughout the week, not only as a coach at the camp but also during all other leisure activities and meals. The coaching not only improved my technique and focus but also increased my confidence in riding big waves. I can definitely recommend Pepijn as a surf coach and greatly appreciate his professional yet personal approach. I'm already looking forward to more sessions with him.

I spend a week in figuera da foz, portugal with peppijn. A genuine kind human being who loves to go indept on the surfing techniques and give you constructive and onpoint feedback to help you improve without overloading. During video analysis he also tunes into what the group wants to learn and improve overal techniques on for instance top and bottom turns. The week is well organised, beautiful location and the joyfull and relaxed manner of peppijn’s coaching make it a really good week wether you want to go hard and surf three times a day or if you want to go a little more mellow and chill by the pool.

I got injured 2 days before the start of the retreat and had to be creative on the “how can i still grow eventho i can’t surf that much”. I ended up having a lot of energy to put into observing, going out with flippers to bodysurf, fear management, surfskating, visualizing and analysing some “older” video’s.
I ended up having a really good week, not feeling pressured once but always invited and welcome to try.

Since my week there i have noticed that i can slowly start to implement the feedback that i received. I start to do duckdives with my 7.6 now. My turns are more smooth, less locked and the board responds faster, plus I keep more speed. I’ve also got more focused key words that i use while i am surfing a wave to make sure i can actually work on what i want to progress and not get lost on the sparkly green wall 😉🪩

Was an awesome trip. Pepijn has deep knowledge on surfing and knows how to explain this. And equally important he then knows how to dumb it down to a single thing that you need to do today to make a real change. It really helped me surf less erratically and that feels very good. Also what is really cool is the vibe of Pepijn and the group. Everybody was there to help each other get to their best surfing. So it was simply a s lot of fun as well.
