Fraudulent use of my credit card
Tried to renew match of the day. Struggled on line. I therefore called them. They said I could have 12 months no commitment deal for just £44. Good deal, so gave my credit details. But they actually signed me up to a 6 month recurring contract at £44.99 per month. Called 6 times, and they just ignore everything. Reported as fraud to my bank and currently being dealt with by my bank. Absolutely dreadful customer service, and fraudulently used my credit card details.
Would give less than one star if I…
Would give less than one star if I could. Avoid at all costs. Terrible company. Charged me twice - two different amounts - for a BBC History magazine subscription. They refuse to reply to emails and if you call are just put on hold until you lose the will to live. Will only refund if I give my bank details....no chance. Seriously think this is a scam. Am having to go through my bank for a refund. AVOID!!
Don’t give them any of your money
Don’t give them any of your money! I paid for a years subscription for a magazine as a gift for my mum, I’ve done this for the past 3 years, only this year did immediate media take over this subscription, despite me paying for this, we have no access to it, I’ve been told it’s a fault on the system however 3 months later and after providing proof I paid, still no subscription or refund. I just have sent close to 30 emails, many without a response and been on the phone for hours, told I would get a refund in 7 days, 2 weeks later still no response or refund. This company is a massive con
Beware - Misleading Charging and Poor Refund Handling
I had a very troubling experience with Immediate Media Company Limited (the subscription administrator for BBC Gardeners’ World magazine). They charged my credit card more than once and refund timings were unclear and inconsistent, causing confusion and financial inconvenience. Their billing practices felt misleading — charging a renewal only to refund days later — which resulted in having to cancel and destroy my credit card to prevent further unauthorised charges.
Despite multiple attempts to get clarity from customer service, the communication was slow and left me unsure whether refunds were processed correctly. The lack of transparency and apparent billing errors caused unnecessary stress and disruption.
I strongly warn others to be cautious when subscribing with this company — make sure you monitor your statements closely, and be aware their subscription system and refund handling appear to have significant issues.
Magazine subscription exasperation…
Last Friday tried to renew a gift subscription for Olive magazine. Website 'renew' just wanted to start a new account. Phoned the subscription number . A Kent number.
Goes to a call centre in South Africa. Polite but hopeless agents. Was put on hold more times than info sub gathering. They took all details including card details.
Then put on permanent hold.
Used second phone to call same number. Another agent appeared to have account details then said she was going home for the weekend and that ended both calls. An hours call.
There is no email address and there has been no contact since.
I asked the agents for email confirmation. Both promised.Tried phone at weekend. 'No agents available'
Still dont know what is happening.
London office phoned but doesn't seem to deal with magazine subscriptions!. No help.Terrible service.
Can't face another hour.
Bank contacted but need to wait for card charge.
Awful service
Awful service. I cancelled my Olive magazine subscription ahead of my 6 month renewal to say I did not want to continue. They still charged me, ignored all my emails and say there is no trace of payment despite it being taken out of my bank account. Have reported to trading standards. Avoid this company!
I wish that I had looked at the reviews…
I wish that I had looked at the reviews before I subscribed. This company is terrible. I subscribed, had confirmation, but no BBC History magazine appeared. Several calls made and promises that a Manager would call me back - nothing. "The system" had cancelled my subscription but of course kept my money. 10 days to get money back but told by the call handler that it would probably be longer!!!!
If there was a lower score it would be…
If there was a lower score it would be a minus.
I've been trying to subscribe to BBC History since beginning of October. Nothing even after chasing emails. I have now received 5 confirmation emails of subscription-different details each time. I've tried 3 different phone numbers and haven't spoken to anyone as yet. If only I'd read the reviews first. I am wondering if this is a scam.
Taken my money but not delivered
Taken my money but not delivered! I want an immediate refund - do not sign up for a subscription folks!
Awful company
Awful company. They took £50 for a subscription of Radio Times on the 14th of October, and I have not received a single edition yet. I have made 4 calls, and they promised a refund every time, and still nothing. Their customer service is appalling. Avoid at all costs, or you will be rippid off
I'm not sure that this is a legitimate company
I'm not sure that this is a legitimate company, it appears that it may have taken over Our Subscriptions but such is the administration that they cannot inform me of when my subscription is due in fact they appear to have no records at all.
Dreadful company
Dreadful company. Took my Radio Times subscription DD off 3 weeks early when I cancelled subscription. (bank returned it thank goodness) But all emails only get stock answer after a week by a BOT. After a month and many emails I still haven't got them to agree that my subscritption was cancelled. Just BOT answers. I have dificulty with phone because getting Deaf.
Does not refund cancelled subscriptions.
Cancelled my subscription and was told I'd get a refund on 1st October within 3-5 days. A month later, nothing. Luckily they didn't respond to the PayPal case I opened and PayPal refunded me.
I cancelled my subscription for over
Edit:
On December 15th I got an answer (email) from Costumer service. They told me that due to their recent system migration, they are unable to process my refund automatically. So they told me that to complete my refund manually, they wanted me to provide them via email with my full name, bank sort code and bank account number. This is crazy. I expressed my concerns regarding sharing sensitive information and that such sensitive information should never be transmitted via email for security reasons. I told them to close this case. Once again, stay away from this company.
---
I cancelled my subscription for over a month ago and I reached out to customer service for a refund and I still haven't seen anything credited back to my bank card. So stay away from this company.
Stay clear!! Total scam
Another week has passed, now a month since I set my subscription up, 2 weeks since payment was taken, 2 weeks passed since first weekly magazine was promised and still nothing or reply.
Shoddy business practices and intolerable new direct debit terms
I have subscribed to Radio Times since 2021. The usual offer of very cheap first 12 weeks, then "£49.40 every 6 months".
Except that they wrote to everyone in November 2023 that they were having to increase the cost because the price I had been paying "is no longer sustainable". But at £117 every six months I would still make a saving. Yes, the annual price was then £238 (which they quoted only at the foot of the email) and I would be paying £234 -- just £4 of saving, then. How generous.
I stuck with it, but the two main changes this autumn make it intolerable:
1. Their new website means I no longer have access to any subscription information, such as when they propose to take my money by DD, or when the issue delivery period ends. (They take the money about 7 weeks early, by the way.)
2. They changed their payment processor to Stripe. Stripe themselves sing on their website for business how the DD Guarantee means businesses must inform customers 10 working days before taking any DD payment and must quote the amount. But what do Stripe now do according to notification in September? From 17 October they will give you just 2 days --TWO DAYS-- notice, so that you don't have time to cancel the DD if you disagree with them.
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS BEHAVIOUR BY IMMEDIATE MEDIA.
No wonder the German owner is a multi-millionaire!
Oh, and as for the "no longer sustainable" prices: they offer new subscribers at present the same old deal of 10 weeks at £1 a week, except they then get to pay just £55 every 6 months, not the £117 I am fleeced for.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED: GIVE THIS COMPANY AND THEIR SERVICES THE WIDEST BERTH YOU CAN.
Immediate media are awful
Immediate media are awful. I wrote a negative review a few years ago and they haven't improved since then. Malfunctioning website still dreadful. Thankfully they no longer have a strangle hold on the Gardeners' World subscriptions (which I renew for my Mum every year) - can now get through magazine.co.uk which is a much more pleasant and glitch free experience.
Shambles
Three subscriptions, two gifts.
Tried to renew the two gifts. It’s changed. Created account with the magazines. Unable to link gift subscriptions. Emailed, no reply. Called not helpful at all. I wanted to know the last dispatch to then add the new gift subscription so as not to overlap or miss. ‘Likely date’ was the response.
Clicked link from reminder email. Renewed. EMail received to me addressing me as the gifted recipient and noted ‘my’ changed address. I contacted the giftee who then said they have received an email with my name in it. What a complete mess! Called and emailed but a complete renew shambles. I have no idea who or when the magazine comes as unable to link. No response on eMail. And I’m meant to renew the other subscription for Christmas time. Nightmare.
I suggest customer service line that actually know what they are talking about.
Please stay away from these platforms
Please stay away from these platforms. They are all a scam. They conned my sister out of £500. Please look at reviews before you invest in any company. This is sound advice
I subscribed to this by accident I…
I subscribed to this by accident I thought I was getting a manual for something and they took £18 from my account and now want £10 to unsubscribe, what a joke!
