Ordered a car in January 2026 and it was delivered early in July 29th, to the dealer who asked us to take delivery by the 31st to help them meet their target which we agreed to. We asked for car to be PDI'd and filed with petrol only (which happened) but not Valeted which was done as requested and everything was great.

However when I took delivery of the car it was discovered that one of the unique and distinctive side decals was missing from the factory so One was fitted and One wasn't. Unfortunately we didn't spot this until I took the car to the detailer to get ceramic coated, where we took the decision to remove the one decade fitted to one side of the car to make it match and not look stupid until the Dealer could source replacements at Volkswagen UK'S expense.

We were also missing an ordered Luggage Net, and the Unique Numbered Plaque for the car which was promised that both would be be sent to us when they "turned up" as we live approximately 100 miles away from the dealer (we travelled to get allocation of the car we wanted not the best deal, which was a full price purchase although in all fairness the over all was fair - although they did fail to apply for finance on the 30th March at our request to secure a low rate finance deal) In addition to the items to be sent to us which now included 2 decals, a numbered plaque (which the Sales Manager wasn't aware they came with and admitted delivering between 7-8 of these cars missing this unique part-despite there being an email sent to the Sales Executive to ensure this wasn't overlooked prior to delivery) and a luggage net we asked for a printed invoice for the purchase price of the car as the emailed copy was no good as it was sent to my phone. (to date we still haven't had a physical invoice for the car)

Before this the begged us to give them 5 star customer satisfaction review for Volkswagen as it would affect there bonus and to sign up to the Volkswagen app so to get the Sales manager of the Sales Executives "back"

Finally we got new decals sent from Germany, they came in a big long box so to avoid folding them but they took the decals out of these boxes and rather than rolling them in to a postal tube to avoid creasing them they folded them to a small box to presumable save on postage. Needless to say the arrived creased but fortunately our installer worked his magic to fix this and they are now thankfully fitted and the car looks 100% as it should have 2 months ago when we picked it up. There was no Plaque with the decals so I eventually called the parts department (as by now they were refusing to take ur calls or return our calls or emails which forced us to have to deal with Volkswagen UK Customer Service then ultimately the Executive Office). The Parts agent said " the plaques be here for ages as had luggage net I asked if he could send them out along with an invoice and he said probably not but he'd ask a manager and get them posted if it was allowed. Gladly the Plaque arrived but no invite or luggage net.

During the course of the complaint to VW Customer service I was told the Sales Executive called me a liar and his own Lies to VW were exposed but during the course of the complaint I was advised that the dealer was refusing to pay to have the decals fitted and Volkswagen UK would only pay to get them fitted through a VW dealer which we explored but it was established that they wouldn't actually fit them themself but rather sub contract the fitment to a local sign writer which if this was happening I wasn't happy with and insisted on using my own installer at a cost of £140 including VAT (there installer was quoting £180 plus VAT) Volkswagen still refused to pay.

So long long story short I paid full price for a new Golf lost out on low rate finance due to laziness, got a miss built car (Volkswagens Words) no Limited Edition Plaque (till almost 2 months) no luggage net or invoice today and a Sales Team be smudging my name to Volkswagen UK and im out of pocket to the tune of £140!! for my trouble.

If I could mark my sales experience of purchasing the 50th Anniversary Golf GTI and probably the last ever Petrol only GTI a ZERO Star I would Both the Sales Manager and Sales Executive were fine until they were deplorable as soon as the money changed hands and a problem presented itself and to this end id recommend avoiding this dealer and using John Clark Aberdeen instead.

John Clark Dundee volkswagen is an absolute shambles. Phone calls go unanswered at all times of day. Was told I would have to leave my car all day for an MOT which I was told would take an hour.
I used Barnetts on previous VW cars I have owned and service was much better. Moving the VW franchise to John Clark is not a good move for VW owners in Dundee.

Terrible customer service, car was filthy when I picked it up after having been ‘valeted’. No locking wheel nuts- was promised by salesman I would have them sent up and haven’t heard a thing in 2 months. And best of all my warranty hadn’t been activated when my car developed a fault and had to be put into John Clark. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
